In recent post Tryal mentioned that Zek was no longer split into teams (Good vs Evil, Diety's etc...) How does it work now? Is it just a free for all?

Rallos Zek rules (they actually just merged the other servers onto RZ), and it has its problems. FFA within 4 levels (you can cast on/attack group and guild members). It mostly comes down to who petitions most/best and who the GMs listen to. Nobody listens to the rules, so it is irritating that any even exist.
And SZ was the only PvP server to actually have teams. VZ/TZ had roleplay teams only pretty much.
My opinion was that PvP on Sullon Zek was hard, PvP on Rallos Zek was a nuisance.

Thanks Aryse,
It's amazing anyone can get anything accomplished like that! Though it would be a nice way to settle camp disputes. ;)

The annoying part is that under Rallos rules its not always legal to settle camp disputes that way. But the rules are very arbitrary and change based on GM's mood.
It's the only PvP option now, but compared to the lawless Sullon Zek of old, its a million times easier to do things.
Sullon used to have no rules at all, meaning even things like intentionally training mobs was a legal part of PvP...now people still occasionally train, but its illegal and now just frustrating because you can't legally retaliate.

It does get rather frustrating, with the 4 level limit. the SZ rules, though a pain in the ass sometimes, were much more exciting.

But the rules are very arbitrary and change based on GM's mood.
That is exactly it. The rules are not clear, not explained anywhere, not consistently enforced, and there is no regular enforcing system.
GMs have actually said, when punishing a player 'we received so many petitions, you must have done something.' And GMs failed to note that petitions on Zek are the new most powerful form of warfare. That is just so wrong.
A GM 'talked to' a group member of mine about attacking someone before they had fully zoned in one day. Against the rules and all. So the next several times it happened to me, I petitioned it, including the text which showed I made no action initially while being attacked. In every case the GM response was 'no proof, we're not taking any action'. Spoke with two of the players I had petitioned about, and they had not heard from any GMs. So there is a clear inconsistency in the rules and how to handle the rules.
This is a simple example on an individual basis, but when you look at guild situations and see that GMs are handling guild situations exactly as they handle individual ones, the inconsistency is a big fat problem. It is one thing to treat a situation involving 2 or 3 people in inconsistent ways. But to treat situations involving 150 people with inconsistency is a problem.
No rules is better. Then it is fair to everyone... doesn't matter which GM you got and what their interpretation of the rules is and what their chosen punishment of the day is. With no rules it doesn't matter who sneaks around the rules best, or which ones you chose to break in a random scale of broken rule importance.
Fair rules in PvP means no rules, or at least hardcoded rules.
GMs are people, and are subject to all the faults of people when dealing with an almost non-existent list of rules they must interpret and apply their own decided punishment to.

what do the actually do in response to a petition? suspend players, or just say "don't do it again?"
all the GMs must be on zek, 'cause a petition on stromm is usually a week-long affair :P

So you can't hide in the rocks anymore?
Is Skelliton on RZ now? Or did he go bluebie?
