Doesn't matter what race you play. Each has its own good and bad. I play a dark elf on Karana and Erudite on Drinal. Good research for charactor creation = http://eq.crgaming.com/menu/necromancer.asp

Okay, I'm anal. I'll admit it. Please feel free to slam the heck out of me but....

PLEASE STOP ABBREVIATING ONE SYLLABLE WORDS!!! :o

I really don't even mind the misspellings (I wouldn't mention them at least). Honestly, I usually don't even take the poster seriously when they type like this.

O MY FREAKING STARS IT IS ANNOYING (to me)!

ne = any (not saving but a keystroke here)

1 = one (okay, saving 2 keystrokes here)

no = NO, not KNOW!

Thx = Thanks

Oh, and play what you like. If you're just starting off go for whatever looks good to you. In the end it mostly evens out. Iskar get an experience penalty but get Regen.

Crap, I responded anyway.... :lol:

any, although it is only three letters, has to syllables, that's why it takes two letters to spell it phonetically (N E) I usually don't do that myself because it seems to take longer to read a post like that but when you just use a few here and there, like "does ne1 need a necro?" it's not that bad, but you're right, d00d speak pisses me off sometimes.

Hmmm ... ok, I'm going to do a nimble dance and avoid getting caught up in either the "which is the best race for a necro" or the "to d00d speak or not to d00d speak" discussions .... at least I'm going to try :D

I _believe_ that what "MasterOfDark" is asking is : can you give me advice on starting a necro (that happens to be a DE). I could be wrong (it's hard to tell from his post .... damn .... ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H) but I'm going to proceed to respond based on that assumption.

There's really not much to it for the first few levels. It's all pretty much the same for those first few newbie levels (except that being a DE rocks cos you have night vision ..... damn ..... ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H) ie : give the char some gear and spells (if caster), then go hit things till you level, and don't forget to practise your skills for some skillups.

At level 4, you truly become a necro as you gain darkness (snare) and fear and your life of fear-kiting begins. This will be your main hunting tactic until your mid to high 50s or so when it stops working. You also get Gate which rocks.

At level 8 you get MUCH tougher, as you get your first heal other and the first of the lich line which will give keep you in mana forever. You also get invis and your first pet heal.

At level 12 you get your first tap-over-time and your first pet buff and is another huge upgrade.

It goes on like that. At 16 you get Feign Death, 20 you get Harm Shield (DA) and 24 you get Screaming Terror (mezz). All in all, it rocks.

Have fun !

Oh and check out Casters Realm (http://eq.crgaming.com/menu/necromancer.asp) for good starting discussions.

I think there's newbie quests you get from you guildmaster now that aren't terrible, and nektulous forest is as good a starting ground as there is imo. I'd concentrate on getting those coppers, killing anything you can holding a weapon(to sell back), and getting your spells. At level 12-16 goto "sister isle" in OOT and make some decent cash, and work on your gear. Int/hps/mana being the important stats to a necro.

Whatever you do...don't goto pok and beg for gear/money, that's really annoying.

Good luck

Jeb

I think the best newbie area is Field of bone for iksars. They get the best of everything there.

1) Low level mobs close to the zone with guards who will come to the rescue if you have to use them

2) Higher level mobs further out in the pit and LOTS of them.

3) Safe camping areas like in the bunkers close to the zone line

4) Outside vendors so you dont have to zone in to trade

5) A low level dungeon that you can go into very close by in the middle of the pit.

6) An even higher level dungeon (kaesora), when you get even higher.

All in all, the iksars got a very very good newbie area. I think the best newbie area of all the races. imho.

I go to the ikky noob areas even when I'm not an ikky, they are great places for hunting.
