Ok, so I've had Combat Stability 1 for a while now. I since then noticed a couple of "You have become better at Defense (xxx)" since then. A few days ago, I purchased Combat Stability 2. Since then I really hadn't been hit that much, and the few times I did get hit by a noc in Vxed that caught up with me, I didn't last that long.

Last night I went to the arena in Riwwi with some buddies and had some fun. I wound up taking my fair share of hits because the lone chanter was well, lets not get into that. Anyways, while I was getting beaten upon, I noticed some more skill-ups... "You have become better at Offense (92)"...

Huh?

I had 3 on me at one point and was getting hit so fast that I went from 92 to 97 from the time the train hit me to the time I FD'd. I wasn't meleeing when I got the skill-ups. I was being melee'd so I don't understand the Offense skill increases. I also checked my skill listing and it was infact that my Offensive skills were increasing, (i.e. it wasn't just displaying the wrong text in the spam window.)

Is this normal or is it bugged, or am I just crazy?

EDIT: I also tried melee'ing and it didn't give me any skill ups either (offense or defense)

Did you have a damage sheild on?

My bet is on the damage shield too. ;) And btw, combat stability AA doesn't have anything to do with defense or offense getting better. It's just that the cap is increased when you reach lvl66 and higher. Dodge benefits from that too. Though I don't know the new cap yet.

Yeah, damage shield damage is counted as melee damage, which always has a chance of increasing offence if you're below the cap. Fastest way to max offence as an INT caster is to get a damage shield and a healer and let some fast-hitting mob beat on you while you melee it.

Not that there's much point in general, though my Mage used to stab mobs with their dagger that proced a 400-ish DD whenever I got bored :).

Ah HA!

Sneaky droods with their damage sheilds. I bet that was it, thanks for helping me think I'm not crazy!

Pssh, I never have DS's on so how the heck should I know that?

I didn't even think about it, I just know there was a mage and a druid with us so the chances are someone stuck one on me. Not like I asked for one or even noticed it.

Usul must be feeling quite spunky lately...

*whispers Banshee Aura...* ;)
Ok, not every necro likes to melee and guessing from your posts I say you did not. :D

The duration of Banshee Aura is too short and annoying to deal with beyond the first few levels after you get it. If I really want a damage shield, I have the 9th Coldain ring in my bags somewhere.... (kidding, I'm anal about what items go in which bags, and which slot in the bags they go in) that I use as one of my junk buffs when I'm not raiding.

Sure but I don't bother with damage shields anymore. And the 9th ring wasn't available at the level I got banshee aura. And I did use it. Especially at the needlites camp. :)
