Hey All,

Fleebones (62 Gnome Necro on TheNameless) here...

I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question, but here it goes anyway: I've recently been soloing underbulks in the PoDisease, and much to my dismay, they are fookers when it comes to spell resists. 20% of the time my SNARE doesn't stick, and I have to run circles trying to get enough distance to re-cast. Since snares (i.e. our "darkness" line) are magic based, are there any ways to increase the chance that they stick???

I can only think of the following factors that affect a snare landing successfully:

1) your level
2) the level of the mob
3) possibly, the level of the spell
4) ... ?

are there any focus items that can make out snares stick better?

Thanks guys.

Evily,
Flee

Partner with a shaman, Mage, or chanter that can debuff for Magic and see how that works for you.

yeah the Magic resist level of the mob is a big one, that's why we get some lifetaps that are diseased based. We also get a disesed based snare that is a nuke, but i've never tried kiting with it. I've used it as a snare in situations when the mob is gonna run and i wanna snare it without using a big mana spell in the darkness line. It's called insidious retrogression, a 500 plus nuke wth a snare. Not sure how long the snare component lasts (MoB is usually dead before it wears off or is overridden by druid / ranger snare), so i wouldn't try it myself, but if you're willing to give it a shot, let us all know how long it lasts.

See here (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=2545&source=Live) for Insidious Retrogression. It works well, lasts 1:36, and is disease-based instead of magic, so you might have more success with this, although in Plane of Disease you might find that mobs have high DR.

Another tactic is to use a low level darkness like Engulfing Darkness (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=355&source=Live) which is fast to cast and has a low mana cost. It also has a -20 resist check, so you never know. Then once this lands, you can use a higher level one to slow them down even more.

Or just team up with a ranger / druid who's snare lasts 15 mins :D

I used dooming darkness there...with Csod it was fast enough, using dmf and landscape to my advantage to cast til it stuck. With the exception of mobs that buff themselves I believe your list is fairly accurate. In general if your fear kiting you could dark, fear, proc an orb of tashani on it, to lower resists for a refresh, other then that( and *that* is for mobs 54 or lower) there isn't really too much you can do solo. Except goto pon and kill birds and trees until your higher level.

I've found the insidious retrogression, is a high agro spell, cause it doesn 3 things, snare, lower attack rate, and is a 500 plus DD spell. Well worth it, and isn't as resisted as the regular snare, but sometimes doesn't last as long.
