Demi Lich

I am a lvl 58 necro and I have been unable to find Demi Lich for sale on The Tribunal. I realize that this is a good upgrade from Lich but should I stress out over not having it or just keep working my way to Arch Lich (have this one in the bank)?.

Well here is what i found on the spell, according to Allakhazam's the spell drops of various mobs http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=1611

But it can also be researched now with the new research components

Would advise holding out for Arch-Lich.
The only advantage I can think of that Demi has over Arch is the fact that in Demi form you can sit on a mount.
(Unless some clever nec has found a way to park his specter rear on his ride) :lol:
Arch is both a blessing and a bit of a burden because your height perception does not change when sitting or standing.
Also, not sure if anyone else has noticed this but, when you FD in arch mode, there is a fickle animation sequence (which is bitching cool btw). However, if you are a twitchy FD'er, and stand up before the sequence plays out, your char will lock up on the spot and not be able to move.
The only way I have found out so far to escape this lock is to toggle your f9 key and switch perspectives, which allows you to move again.
Has gotten me killed on several occasions.

I just dinged 56. On Luclin the spell and most 55-58 spells are DAMN expensive. For example, our 55 Aug spell is sold on luclin for 4k-7k. Thats just stupid.

i am a 57th defiler on the Tunare serve and based on whats been said i think someone needs ot remind all the traders in the bazaar on all the servers that there are no necros with the surname TRUMP or ROCKERFELLER running around.... they wanted 8k for demilich and im sorry i cant justify spending that kind of plat for a spell ill only use for 4 levels :blink: :huh:

I am a necro of 59 seasons so far, and I got Demi Lich at level 56. Since this thread is about that spell, I'll keep my comment to it alone =)

I spoil my necro. He's my main, and always will be the most important. As such, yes I got Demi Lich at 56, and overpaid dearly for it. Do I regret it? By no means. But at the same time do I recommend it, again probably not. If you're not the kind of necro who doesn't mind dropping too much for something, then don't, because you'll never find this for a price reasonable for its use. But I cannot deny the difference it makes. Same thing goes for Augmentation....doh, said I wouldn't do that.

Anyway, what I really have to say is this. IF you can spend the plats, or like I did hunt the words and research, then our most expensive spells are definitely worth it. But if you cannot afford, or cannot hunt down research, you will still be able to level, just maybe not quite as fast/easy.

BTW, Veksar is Awesome for loots and xp. I found the words to ALL our higher level spells, and even though I'm still only 59, I have Funeral Pyre sitting in my packs waiting to be scribed. I can't wait =)

Agree with Dalemar's comments and would just add that it is worth getting your research skills up. This is how I have managed to finance all my spells from 50 - 60, including Demi - Lich. The research components are ultra rare for those expensive spells and the main component for Funeral Pyre is up for 15k in the bazaar on AB!!

Having reached 60, I suddenly realised that Demi Lich had been a great buy! Although Arch Lich is a great mana regen, I am doing a lot of aggro kiting and I get better mana regen on my Drogmor with Demi Lich than I do running around and trying to sit down occasionally with Arch Lich up. (You can tell that I spoil my Necro too )

Can't wait to use Arch Lich in a dungeon though!

Oh, meant to add something earlier but forgot. There IS a way to mount with Arch Lich (and other spectre forms) on. Although it's not necessarily conventional.

As you know, your spells effect you. You can snare dot yourself, and slowly die while trying to run to the nearest mob trying to tap something to survive. Well this can also work in our favor. Try this sometime.

Cast Arch Lich outdoors. Woohoo I'm a spectre. No way to get out my drogmoor (I named him cow lol) is there? Hey, wonder what happens if I ignite bones myself and take a quick 500dmg? WOW, i'm a skellie again! Quick, click my drum! Woohoo, got Cow AND the mana regen =)

Like I said, a little unconventional, but hey, that's what we're all about hehe.

just to give an update... i stopped by the bazaar after a long night of questing and LDONing last night and low and behold... no words of awareness... so being the optimist that i am i typed demi into my bazaar search bar and HOLY COW..... :blink: someone miss priced it!!! long story short i nabbed it for 800 plat instead of 8k :) So i now have this spell scribed and I must say a very nice addition to my arsenal.

I love it when that happens. One of the items I have "Mantle of the fallen spirit" usually sells for 5k on my server... got it for 500 =D

well i dont know how much this spell is on your server. But on E'ci it is 10 K and i dont think this spell is any were near worth it. so im holding out for arch lich (that only goes for less than 1 K and i got for free) that's all i got to say here.
