Struggling with finding words

I have gone to many of the zones where I was told to go to get words for research. I have played those zones for hours and killed the monsters I am supposed to kill. I don't know if it's luck or random, but none of the words drop when I kill these monsters I am supposed to do. I don't want to buy my words. Any advice?

here's a great list for L50-L60 word drops by zone (http://mboards.eqtraders.com/eq/showthread.php?t=4627)... and yeah, it's completely random and can take a LONG time

It isn't completely random, only mostly random :oP
Words that make spells typically drop from mobs that are slightly higher level than the lowest spell level that can be made from them. So if you're trying to get a word drop to make a spell of your current level (and no other spells of lower level use it), those words likely drop from mobs that are white, yellow, or just barely red to you. Looking on merchants for the words you need can be a faster way of getting lower level words.

I've noticed a lot of research components dropping in LDONs. Seems like 2-3 necro usable words or Yaeth's drop each one. That observation covered EF, NRo and MM LDONs done with groups averaging level 64-66. Can't discern any real pattern.

i agree... i think this may have been intentional... even the very rare ones can drop in the higher-level hard LDoNs (like torment)
