Hurricanes suck, my friend in NO lost everything cuz of Katrina..she got out ok, but has nothing except what she could take with her(not much). Going to Texas now could be a horrendously bad Idea. For one, you might not be able to evacuate should you need to(it's a HUGE state, I'm sure all of it won't be affected) due to traffic. Keep your gas tank full(as possible) and pack light/fast.
In florida(where I live now), we're pretty well versed in hurricanes and conditions can get very bad, very quickly...also get a working flashlight, batteries, and some bottled water/ice. You never know what can happen with such a powerfull hurricane some close to where you're headed. Stay safe..and watchout for falling hous..err everything.

I lived in Biloxi in the 80s. It was pretty depressing to look at the satellite shots and see the place where I lived for 4 years, and where my oldest daughter was born completely gone now.
I can't even fathom the grief and dispair the people who still lived there went through.

Hello,
Fiance and I used to live in New Orleans. We evacuated the day before Katrina. Dont even know how the house faired, although we looked at satelite pictures and didnt notice any water near our place. I hear lots of mold and mildew has grown inside many buildings not flooded, so we might still loose everything. And to boot, we dont have DSL anymore (grrrr) because we are living in the mountains in Va LOL. But we are happy, the weather is great and we got free dial-up installed, and we're alive. Also no work for a few weeks, so its a mini-vacation for us. Sucks having to buy clothes and such knowing that you might have some not destroyed back in NO.
As a tribute to the storm and our displacement, i semi-retired my 68 lvl, 150AA necro on the namless and moved my address to Firiona Vie. Got the "new"Saenayar to 21 in a day or so. I always wanted to play on that server (i.e no no-drop). One question for fellow FVer's, how do you communicate? LOL
BTW this is my first post, although i have haunted this site for more than two years. Im shigh LOL.

The closest thing to Common on FV is "Elvish". It is the most spoken language by a factor of 100. Note that some groups (like RP Iksar guilds) will only speak in character to you if you know their language.
If you really really need to communicate, use either Emotes:
/em asks politely if %T would be willing to teach her Elvish
Or, you can use ;tell commands which are "languageless", like chat channels.
/tell Saenayar Hello - would be in whatever language that window is in (Dark Elvish atm).
;tell Saenayar Hello - would be in clear text.
Most people know all the languages.. just speak in your racial language (which is often not the default for new characters.. bug!.. you often start speaking /lang 1 {human} even if you are not a human).
So check which language you are speaking (right click on the caht window)! Someone will understand you.
If you play West Coast evenings, look for me.. or /who all Gift of Darkness.. surely someone will teach you Elvish. We also run a House for wayward Necros.

Yeah, come on now. You're mucking up my rant.
In the Eye-wall...
It's well documented that we can "gay up" any rant. Or that nude pictures can become a discussion of home repairs in 2 posts.
So why do you think your rant would go any differently?

Intraweb points are like votes in Florida... they don't count for anything.

Hmm, solid point. If only we could harness the power of the eye-wall and sell it as an amusement park ride. While I'm gone, someone figure out how to do this.
Ok, done...but I can't reveal any parts of the solution as I am waiting on patents now...sigh

Nice to know you're back safely. Between the traffic, floods and wind damage..it was a very serious storm.
