What are the trivials of the new research spells? I know I saw a list somewhere but I seem to have exhausted my memory as to where it was!

// Got 2 63 parchments only to hear the terrible news that Xis has delivered to us today about Horror not being researchable. I can only hope, though I have my reservations in doing so, that he is wrong.

203 (or 223?) I believe to clean the level 63 parchment and to make the cleaner for the parchment.

Unfortunately this is not a skillup path here as the solutions require Crystallized Sulfur, which while obtainable from lowb mobs, is really rare in the baz, or at least on maelin, and which I have yet to find on any ldon vendor.

Since dod came out (when I started looking) I've managed to find 4 Crystallized sulfur, and have been able to make 1 chealend parchment with them. I've checked the baz several times a day, and ldon merchants a few times, though I guess the constant patching didn't help.

Those evil bastards imply only some pop and some god spells can now be researched. (http://eqlive.station.sony.com/updates/recent_updates.jsp?id=64101)

" The new spell research is a totally different system that covers a large majority of spells that were found in Planes of Power, and Gates of Discord, though not all of them. The new system may seem more complex than the way you are used to doing spells, but is much more systematic than the previous system and will be more consistent."

I would hope they are referring to just "Ancient Spells". The GoD spells that I want to research are really the only reason I am doing it (if only to have them + Night Fire :) ) - pop spells will be just a bonus as being able to sell them (or supply as needed to guildies) after a skillup chance.

I'm with ya (and I doubt the ancient spells are going to be reseachable), now the question is do I buy ts aa's for spell research or bite the bullet and skillup?

Xis, honestly, it's easier to grind 18 AAs than grind 100 skill points.

As for which PoP and GoD spells aren't researchable, I already suspect that the Imbue spells are not, and it seems like Night's Beckon and Night Stalker are either much more complex thatn we originally thought, or they aren't researchable.

Heh at 180+ I think it may be easier to grind 18 aa's than get 20 skill points :) But If I do that I'll have to make more spells and sell em to feel better about spending so many aa's on a tradeskill I don't really like...

Only grind nine AAs then :P ; Arcane Tongues 2 seems to work fine.

For you sure, my spell research is at 173 or so now... Even at 2 aa's im only at 5% chance on the final combine (62.6875% on the subcombines) according to eqtrader's calculator.

Oh, with 200 + 5% and 2 AAs, I come out to abouy 20%

Going for all 3 ts aa's. Got the first last night... and will grind the other 2 once I hit 70... (stuck in 69 atm).

Figure I can moderately cheaply skill up to 227 on old research (the right spells will pay most of their combine cost or even a little profit). Just finding the materials in the quantities needed is difficult. Basically, I have a list of the 56-(er 57 now since I have skilled to 202 on a demi combine)-60 words and just buy anything that is <50pp, <100pp for certain words, and anything that is reasonable on the rare words... slow but another week or two and I should be up to the 220's as I have hundreds of words now.

Skilling up post 200 is miserable, it slowed considerably. Instead of getting a skill up every few combines as I had previously, I now don't even get a skill up every 20. I could just have bad luck with the RNG, but having to do 50ish combines for a single skill up (it happened last skill point) just doesn't make sense in spell research, unless you have one researcher per server serving the whole class. And I sure as hell have not been making my pp back with it, the market is just too small and most of those spells end up sold to NPCs for a pittance. So... cross your fingers that you have much better luck than me on skilling up on spell combines above 200.
