Hi again guys, well reached the dizzy heights of 65 with my necro and about to get dc, have heard some differing views as to the worth of dc and wether or not to put points into, i realise there a lot more important things we need than dc, however its strictly a farming tool for me, or at least that was the idea.
My thoughts were that a dc mob would have more hps than my own pet and probably do more damage, im talkin about straight up tanking here because of limited area, ie no kiting, again i guess that depends on the mob im dc ing and the mob its fighting, veksar of course comes to mind, could anyone who has cob and the others and also used dc in veksar give me there opinions as to its worth in veksar and any other places they have farmed.

Well, I have put this in other posts, but will reiterate it since I use a DC pet all the time in Veksar.

Here is a breakdown of DC pet in Veksar.

45-46 Sentry or Crusader
Dmg 123-125 a hit. Attacks just as fast with RoD as our own CoB
Hitpoints ~8000

In HoH "A Valiant Squire"
46 A Valiant Squire
Dmg 149 max
Hitpoints ~9000

PoV (I haven't done this one yet but know of others who use him)
46 "A rusted suit of Armor"
Dmg 149 max
Hitpoints ~9000

Our 65 Pet
Child of Bertox (LvL 60 Pet, LvL 65 Spell)
Dmg 78
Hitpoints ~4400

Now put two gnoll hide lariats on him and he will own the other mobs. Yeah, they can be stunned by the lariats. Just remember to slow the undead. Some hit very hard and even 8000 hitpoints can waste away under an unslowed level 55 mobs attacks.

Also make sure you have greater immobilize up as one of your spells since some of the mobs are really going to dislike you once you cast shackle of spirit on them. Just pull with slow and stand back far enough away to root them on inc. Send in pet, cast SK, shadowbond, and hit ToD on occassion as needed. No other dots are needed or required. Your pet will sometimes do more dmg than you could even if you stuck both FPOK and BoT on the mob. I have seen my pet do over 1000 dmg a tick on a mob. I don't dot at all except on golems.

With a DC pet you can even solo the Behemoth Golem. Something I dont think you could do with CoB.

When you enter Veksar and turn Left using Shadow invis, head up the ramp to the Dire charm hallway (yep that is what it is called on the nameless). Put on Force shield and have death peace up. TRY dire charm on each sentry / crusader in each cubicle in turn till you get one. Might be your first try.. might be your last. There are two hallways you can pick from. For that matter, you can go all the way to the water tunnels to pick a pet. There are a number of them on the way.. Just after you go through the tunnel, you will no longer find a dire charmable pet. They will all be too high after the water tunnel.

After you get your DC pet, buff him with RoD and give him the lariats (or whatever your weapons of choice are or mage trinkets). Then shrink him. This will allow you to target the enemy easier and makes it easy for you to know which one is yours and which you are attacking at a glance.

Just remember, this added power comes at a cost. You will not be able to FD without loosing your DC pet. Not that you shouldn't have DP up at all times, but it is now relegated for emergencies and not for agro removal; greater immobilize is for this.

A Note: When you release your pet, make sure you warn the zone if you are not releasing him back at his origin point (no mob will have spawned there since technically he is still alive and he will return there). I have had my pet whipe a lower level not slower enabled group. They attacked him not knowing I had buffed him with RoD and he had stunner whips on. I came back in the zone and did free rezzing cause I felt bad that they got ahold of him since I didnt warn anyone I was releasing him. Normally I fight my way back to where I got him and FD. He returns to his cubby, and I summon cob and take him with cob after I have slowed him so that I can recover my whips. I hate farming in splitpaw for them but such is life.

Have fun!

Dire charm pets don't taunt(if I'm not mistaken). You also (even in veksar) are limited to the zone in mobs, making it necessary to clear every single damn mob otw to whatever your camping(tedious). For undead mobs the only time your going to have a problem with pet tanking them is nobles and above. The iksar golems aren't undead, and can be difficult. I have found though with the other defensive aa's and a decent amount of hps (IE get virtue before going to veksar, if your not 4k+ self buffed) you can lifetap tank them, as long as they die fast, and come one at a time...there shouldn't be a problem.

We all play differently, I have 270 aa atm and have found better ways to spend them all, then in dire charm thus far.

It is true you have to fight your way in with him if you want to keep him. Not a problem since I am there for exp as well any how. I would love if we could suspend DC pets but I dont see it happening.

However, I differ totaly with you on DC pets. I use one and know how much better he handles EVERYTHING in veksar. Cob is a definite issue when you get more than one mob and they are not slowed yet. 4400 hps goes down fast! with two or more mobs on him. A golem chews CoB up and you have to almost chain cast ToD on him. A DC pet you still have some time to get things under control and can take golems with no issues.

Also, a DC pet person does more dmg in the same amount of time as someone using CoB PLUS dotting the mob, which means a necro pet person (CoB) cant take as many mobs in the same amount of time I can. With a CoB pet, you cant take every single mob in the shop before the one at the door respawns starting the cycle over again unless you are using allot of dots. Necros who dont DC a pet and bring him limit themselves to the main room and maybe the upstairs mobs (with the smith). Perhaps if you have UBER gear and mana regen you could do more than that. But I will put my DC pet against CoB any day of the week in dmg output. He will eat CoB up and spit him out and still be over 60% health.

With a DC pet I take all the rooms, and go outside and kill the golem by the door and the massive / behemoth golem in the same time.

All I can say bro is get it and then talk to me about it. I have it and know how much better it is.. and the pet numbers do all the talking.

Spending 9 aa's to farm stuff I do already isn't something I plan on doing anytime soon. CoB or an undead charmed mob with (word of terris) has been completely sufficient to clear golems and the shop in one cycle. It's not very hard to melee, proc a tash on the first mob in the shop and then charm him..haste and shrink and boom..you got a pet that blows the one in at the zone in away. Call me crazy...I don't see a need for a level 46 pet at level 65. Anything you can dire charm..you can use a normal charm on..and a level 46 undead mob isn't going to short cycle you on charm duration that often.

Word of Terris sux. I have used it many times and I would take dire charm over WoT in a heartbeat. WoT is not a full duration charm and breaks whenever the random timer decides to make it do so. I hate to be in a fight with an UNSNARED buffed charmed pet and have it break only to now have him AND the mob you were fighting on you not to mention now they are BOTH summoning you. A buffed pet that was buffed with RoD is a very, very nasty mob to have to deal with on top of the mob you were fighting. It might be different if I had a ranger or druid to snare the mob before I charmed him and had someone watching my back while handling a high level charmed mob with WoT, but that just isnt the case when you solo.

You talk about a level 46 pet being a bad thing vs CoB. As I stated I will take a level 46 DC pet over CoB any day of the week. Yeah.. he is 46.. but he hits every bit as often as our LvL 60 CoB pet (65 spell) and hits twice as hard, not to mention has 2x the hitpoints. I have used both.. I know what I am talking about. Get DC and go use it and then talk to me bro. You stick to using CoB in Veksar and I will use my lowby 46 DC pet.

Well i guess i had to find out for myself about dc and if i was gunna spend the points or not, and of course i did, seeing as how my question related to dc as a farming tool and specifically in veksar all of the following is in ref to that.
First thing i noticed was i was going at twice the speed i would normally have killed mobs at, it made it so easy i became lazy and of course after about an hr my pet was debuffed of his dc, which in hindsight was my own fault, if i had been watching i would have seen the 1st buff debuffed and nuked the mobs ass before dc was debuffed, i overcame this by mezzing the expet and the mob i was originally on, thankfully dc was back up and i redid dc, other than that i had a blast it was great fun if nothing else, and of course i will be back there having more fun and farming.
Was it worth the points? hmm probably not in reality i certainly could have spent it on better things, will it earn me pp? sure in certain places, was and is it fun, hell yeah :)

So bottom line i guess is most ppl will spend the 9 aa points just to see for themselves and in the process have a hell of a lot of fun :)

I agree with you on fun and speed of killing with it. I love a DC pet. I however have never had the DC debuffed as of yet in Veksar. I HAVE accidently FD and lost him though. lol.. was my own fault for putting my root spell gem too close to the FD gem.

I think it is definitely worth it though. I have found undead DC mobs in many zones.. Acryllia caverns.. Skeletal Minion, Halls of Honor... A valiant squire, Plane of Valor.. A rusted suit of mail, Veksar.. A sentry.. or a crusader, etc.. No.. they are not in EVERY zone.. but they are in a number of them and they kick butt over our own pets as far as dmg and durability. For veksar alone it is worth it imo.. A dark blue zone at 65 that necros are the best class in. That my friends is exp when we can't find a group anytime.. any day. Not to mention loot that goes from 5k to 30k (on the nameless) soloable by us.

I personally think not only is it worth it.. but it was one of our better aa points usage. Worthless ones are like fearstorm.. yeah.. fear 20 mobs... what happens when fear breaks or the feared mobs pass non feared mobs and the non feared mobs pick up the agro? Here comes a huge train!! That is a worthless AA.. Must look cool.. but that is about it.

Fearstorm...bah...check out my Mass Group Buff! DMF anyone???

Seriously though, Pet Discipline and Suspend Minion I think are more important than DC. But, I plan on getting DC after those. /grin

Bah... I'm going to get MGB just so I can get everyone in PoK and the Nexus bouncing around with DMF :).
