I went to potactics last night and started kiting the mobs around the pit in the safe room to the left. There's no spawns there at all, and the room is HUGE. It's alot like HoH, with 8-9% aa exp(at 65) per kill, the best thing is, there's more then 8-10 mobs to kill. The repop is slower, and I managed to create quite a long run for myself, (to the room across the pit, pulling those 3 pops as well) I remember a few dying before I got back to my original camp. The money drops(random drops from diaku, flame of fennin etc) seemed better the HoH, I got 2 EP's in about an hour, and nice exp. I had done this a bit before, but didn't have a UI with a % reading on the exp bar...it's much better then I expected/remembered, so I thought I'd share.... Enjoy

Ive been doing the west room in PoTactics and have never gotten more then 6% AA per kill after the EXP Nerf Patch a couple months back. On avg. I get 5% per kill with an occaisonal 6%.
Are we in the same room?
From your description and knowing the zone I'd have to say we are, but I'm curious how you were getting the extra 2-3% per kill.
I'm not calling you a liar, I'm genuinely interested in knowing if I can get the same exp.

Hmm, I can double check, I thought atleast the sk's and sentries gave 8-9%, the warriors are less. I'll kite a few 1 at a time and double check.

There are also some drops that happen on occassion that make good money so it is worth it. Not to mention it just a good alternate place to go when you don't feel like your other spots. Too many times however on the nameless that room is camped by necro's and druids. It is hard to get it these days on my server. I wonder about druids though.. must take them a long time to kill anything.

The other room(right) has a few spawns but is still doable...you got to know your timing there though. I kinda liked that room better, more mobs, closer etc. If you can clear then just start working your way around the pit, and share those spawns with the left room. I just go here sometimes cuz I'm lazy, and it's easy. (good match!) It's a nice break from your 200th+ ldon adventure, and not as taxing as many named camps =) A nice diversion(I guess) from the norm.

Same, this is my standard waiting for a group solo spot, but its commonly taken by other necro's.
I would love to try to solo this place, or go with another 63 necro I frequently partner with.....from a birds-eye view can you tell me where this safe room is and where you pull from ? I dropped in there one time to have a quick look around, zoned in, invis'ed, ran straight past the guards, dropped into the big pit in the level below, ran left and forward to a big room...to the left was a room with pigs..is the room I was in, between the pigs and the pit, the room you kite in ? TIA !

When u run up the stairs and come into the room with the big pit. Go left. its the room with 2 openings on either end on the far left wall if you are facing the pit.
Just did this the other day and couldn't get more then 6% per kill, even though I was getting more 6% then 5% which is odd I'd say on avg its still close to 5% a kill.

Tumi, where you were is the coral room or piglet pull camp. There are three mobs in that room with one corner with nothing in it. It is a good place to pull the pit to with no adds and a great place to pull the piglet from the the stampede. Just dont accidently pull the stampeding war pigs... lol. they are all 65 and kick butt.

Ya it is 5-6%, I was kiting a few at a time, so when I was done I looked up and said "wow, nice exp" and didn't look at individual kills..it's still nice exp though...
Thanks very much for the replys ! I pulled up the map and see the room. I assume the mobs you are pulling are the various guards standing around the outside pit area you pass on your way in. I also assume it's the standard, snare, Dot like crazy, and aggro kite while your pet beats on em. I'll give it a go tonight :) Trying all I can to get enough AA for DC...Veks being one of my fav zones :)

EXPECT a lot of darkness resists. I've had 4-5 resists in a row, thankfully that isn't common but it does happen.
Plan your pull expecting snare to be resisted and you will always be fine when it does.
Also dont try to WTD inside that room, there are pathing issues and usually your WTD pet cant move around in there very well, you need to wake a mob outside that room if you want one.
Another popular trick is to look around or wait for on one of the random undead mobs that wander around the top area. Charm it and use that as your pet. This obviously gets more involved but its really great exp when you get it to work.

From the camp we're talking about the best things you'll get are: Highly Polished Gem & Ethereal Parchments.
There is some really great loot from other camps in the zone but other then Piggy and maybe one other I dont know of what is soloable.
OK guys, I found the kite room, pulled a guard or two, and though it takes a bit of mana, I pulled it off...until one resisted snare...these guys hit pretty hard and root does not seem to work well on them.....may I ask what your drill is when you see that awful red message that they have resisted Embracing Darkness ?? :) Run, FD, Gate, what ?
Thanks !

You have to pull expecting to have your snare resisted. Which simply means pull at the max cast distance and always look behind you before you cast to make sure there is plenty of room to run.
When you do seem the dreaded red message just turn run your ass away and fire off another shot.
A Ceramic Gavel of Justice or other Affliction Haste item will make this a lot easier since it will reduce the cast time on your snare.
Dont feel bad about getting resisted I have had 4-5 resists in a row on mobs in there and then had snare land first time for 10+ mobs.
I bet an AH item would certainly help though if you are concerened about it. An extended range item also helps but AH is better suited for a necro anyway IMO>
LOL...ok, thanks. So your steps are the same as mine, run like hell and hope you can get off another cast :) In most cases when i get a resist, I immediatly send in my pet, which buys me time to recover, but for aggro kiting, sending in your pet early simple causes a whole different problem. I can see where having that pet suspend ability might be helpful here. They have AA that stops fizzle, to bad they don't have AA that stops resist....at least not that I know of. I go out with another necro from time to time and I know it has come in very handy to have a second snare ready to fire in case the first fails....Thanks again.

Root if snare is resisted? Also, if you clear the inside wall(wall closest to the pit) you can run around that wall and create space/time to land another darkness with NO problem. The pathing makes them take a bit longer to negotiate that turn then it does for you to do it.. Just use that to your advantage and you shouldn't have a problem.

Main reasons I dont root are: 1) takes up another spell slot. 2) the duration is inconsistent, and with that I mean sometimes root lasts too LONG.
I dropped in there for a little bit last night. Didnt have root mem'ed, but I do try casting from a distance, then step forward/cast, step forward/cast until the spell goes off, this way I know I am as far away as possible before casting ( I do have an extended range item as well ) I was lucky, snare never missed. I did not have my EoT pet armed as usual, so it did go a bit slow and was mana intensive keeping the Dots going, but all in all it went well. I was logging 6% AA per. My only complaint was tagging mobs in the first place. On one side was a guard that con'ed white to me, so that left me with one entrance to pull from, and a white con'ing scout or something kept passing by the other ent, so pulling was kinda slow. I guess I'll get more into the routine there after a few trips and get the pattern down alittle better.

Generally when I see that wonderful red resist message, I do the typical: run to build some space and recast the snare, repeat as necessary. Having Affliction Haste IV helps alot for kiting, just get a Ceramic Skull of Decay (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=16785) if you don't have another item w/ that focus on it, they sell cheap enough at the bazaar (2kish last I checked on Veeshan). AH4 will drop Embracing Darkness' cast time down to 2.1 seconds, which is very nice for handling hot mobs.

Not many items w/ AH4. Here's the "official info" from Lucy, which has a list of items w/ the effect. http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=3534&source=Live
