Since the < 100 damage per tick that snare does is insignificant (although extremely efficient), we would like a snare line where we can snare effectively like rangers and druids. This would give us greater kiting utility, in scenarios where we don't want to damage what we are kiting.

Heh, if it's in addition to what we already have, has a significant resist mod and lasts 15mins..sure. If not, no thanks.

Our snare is something I really never complain about. Yes, I understand it's limitations.. but.. don't we need some challenge?
I will agree, said in the other poll, the only reason I use 68 snare is it can fire Gift of Mana. I would still be using Embracing otherwise. So.. some (even small) improvement other than (unimportant) DPS would be nice, but hardly crucial to my enjoyment of the class.

I voted against this as well. The only snare I use is potime clicky, and its more then good enough. Resists about as much as our other shit does these days anyways. Ok, well maybe a tad more. But acceptable with the lore of our class.

The insignificant damage difference from 63 to 68 is such that I never load the 68 spell (of course I have the snare stick from time). I'm not sure what kind of modification to snare SOE would have to implement for me to actually allow a spell gem to be graced by it. We simply don't have enough spell gems as is, and new spells every expansion (I like those too!) only make this worse. Maybe make it a 8 minute fixed duration snare, that could work in cases where I cant solo a mob in 2 minutes (and need to recast/reclick), but they'd likely increase the mana as well, making it less than efficient on shorter duration fights... With a clicky stick the duration isn't a big deal at all. Making it a 90% snare for 2minutes or more however could be kind of interesting.

ok, room for complaints, that sony got no clue how to evolve a line of spells. the darkness line is fully bullshit from a design perspective, no doubt)
BUT i am fine with my darkness spells today.
more resist modifier? sure yes. worth a point on our list? hell NO!.
get this darkness line/snare issue out of our class list and replace it by something worthful, please.

PS: no nec tells me please, that he cant solo or snare in groups just because sony is too stupid to design darkness spells, please. some of them are absolutely sufficient for their purpose, solo or group. ****fullstop****.

I would like to see a longer duration snare at an earlier level for necros. Perhaps Six to Eight minutes duration for Necros in their early to mid 40's. I think a 'set and forget' snare would be helpful.
Decrease the damage to a pittance so we still have the liability of breaking mezzes but can at least let less powerful necros kite without always reapplying snare.
I still voted no on this question, though.

I disagree here. You're giving the younglings a crutch. I think it'd hurt them in the longrun when it's time for them to adjust to a shorter duration.
Snare is not broken. It was Darkness was garbage pre-PoP hence why everyone still used Dooming, but they made up for it with Embracing. And yes I use Desecrating for the GoM proc and slightly better resist rate. Who cares if it doesn't do more damage.
Let the Rangers and Druids have their long duration snare, they need the help, we don't.

As has been said short damaging snare is our thang.. long snare is rangers/druids... long as we cant snare summoning mobs for kiting im not a kiter suits me )
Its an idea but I honestly dont rate it as a top ten issue
