Just got my WTD3 and Army of the dead 1 over the weekend, and noticed that when i use the alt activate for WTD, army of the dead greys out. Now if i change my hot key to the atl activate for army of the undead, will that automatically use wtd Also? or is there something im missing?
Any help would be great thanks.

WTD and AoTD share the same reuse timer. You can only use one or the other every 9 (or 6 depending on aa) minutes.

I think they're on the same timer. Or it may be more accurate to say they're more or less the same AA, just different levels of it. So you've got a choice: One pet or three. (Or four or five as you gain AotD lvls.)
When I first got AotD, I figured using the WTD hotkey would simply summon more WTD pets. So I was getting frustrated seeing only one WTD pet every time. (FYI for other AotD noobs like me: Create a new hotkey for AotD. :))

Thanks for the info :), is kinda what i figured, but i figured i would check with the people that know more than me. Guess i got some new hot keys to make when i get home.

I keep the WTD hot key off on some secondary toolbar, cause sometimes I want to WTD a Caster corpse so that it can dispell charms, root the mob we are kiting, etc.
Then I remember why AotD is so much better.. *nods*

I don't know. Might be my imagination, but WTD pets seem to hit harder than AotD pets, so unless I have at least three corpses to wake, I usually just pop WTD.

They both share a timer.
WTD wakes 1 mob/pc and it can cast whatever the mob/pc could.
AoTD wakes between 3 and 5 mobs/pc's, and they cannot cast, just weak ass melee. I wish I could optionally have them cast, as it would be great in some situations and terrible in others.
Unless you WTD a big nuker, like a wizie corpse, it's almost always going to be better to use AoTD imo, especially if you're soloing and got a ch'er, those bunch o pets can interrupt spells much better than you can with the lame 500dd stun spells with obnoxiously long refresh timers.
I had something funny happen the other day. I was soloing at tables in pofire and I used AoTD, and after the mob died I turned and saw some pc following me. I was surprised, because there were no corpses near me when I was kiting. I look around and see a PC corpse right at the ent to tables, and it wasn't there a second ago.
10 minutes later I get a tell from the same PC:
Him: "Hey, did you know you charmed me?"
Me: "What?"
Him: "Yeah, I was following you around charmed, I was dragging my corpse to tables and all the sudden I'm charmed and following you around"
Me: "!"
So, I don't know if maybe he went ld or something and he just followed me around, or if AoTD can charm players (albeit unintentionally) who are dragging their own corpses or what :)
So, who wants to take an xp death to test this with me? :)

i use both situationally and have both hotkeys up in my UI.
WTD
- if just 1 corpse around
- if mage or wizzi the dps is higher than aod5
- if sham it may slow (low chance, but....), and other.......
AOD
- if more corpses, best 5
- about just 10-12 dps per corpse
- stuns nicely
- pushs nicely if needed
- 20k tank meatshield

Shadow Knights are also pretty nice to use WtD on (harm touch!)

I once talked a sk to let me drag around her corpse in VT, way back when. Had to stop doing that though, since every cleric reflexively rezzed the corpse every five minutes, and she was tired of clicking no and getting rebuffed from buffers reflexively responding to the cleric's rez message.

Mages make the best PC WtD corpses. They nuke alot (and debuff) and they do not root or dispell.
But, Harm Touch is nice..

So does that mean if there is only 1 corpse lying around, AOD will still only summon 1 pet? or can i get 3+ from 1 corpse?
sorry for all the questions.. but the aa still really new to me :)

yes,
aod just summons as many pets as corpses available.
for aod5 you need 5 corpses or you get less pets.

1 corpse = 1 pet. I've used AotD on one corpse, simply because I didn't want to WTD a caster (chanters can be bad)

AotD, at max rank, requires five corpses to be as effective as possible. It will only summon as many pets as there are corpses, up to five, within its range, which is thankfully fairly large.

I haven't seen that, hmm. I have used my own corpse and mezzed The Creator, that was interesting for a spell that only goes up to 55.

Well once again, thanks for the reply's. Never knew about it requiring a corpse for each pet. Would explain why i was only gettin 1 pet each time.. heh thanks again

Dammit, Usul, now I'm gonna hope a woken necro fears Quarm every time I manage to wake one now. THAT would be comedy.

actually pets are npc. so the rules for pc spells dont count for them, obviously. they can slow the unslowable and fear the unfearable. at least if they didnt nerf it in the meantime. some guilds used dead shamans to slow mobs which are supposed to be unslowable.
i prefer mages, because they really cant do something harmful. usually they just nuke for about 4k mana and then go infight. thats more dps than aod5. 80-140 dps was reported. of course you cant parse the nukes, you have to calculate them manually.
so in terms of dps, imho: epicpet > wtdcaster > sodpets > rogpet > warpet > aod5 > wtdtank. well wtdcaster vs. sodpets vs. rogpet depends on the wtd pet as mentioned.
