Wonder what will be on eqplayers.com that could possibly make it worth paying for.

The last of Usul's links is worth checking out if you have questions about eqPlayers, Hammerfel's been answering questions as they are posted in that forum.

I think it is lol that eq comes out with competition for eqrankings right after he put a fee on the some of the services on the site (that fee made the info not so useful or accurate too).

Does it provide anything that cannot currently be found on eqrankings, magelo, or any of the myriad web hosts with some sort of eq features built in?

the char profile and UI have to be as good or better than magelo. then i would use it due to hopfully better automatic update with less trouble and faster item update.

the item database has to have a better UI than allkhazams. then i will perhaps use it due to hopefully more accuracy and data quality. but even then i will miss the link to quest and npc information.

the rankings have to be at least as bad as eqrankings. then i will surely use it, due to more completeness and less fake or test char.

the spell lists have to be better than lucy, so again, data quality & completeness is important but user interface wins competition.
such simple.

actually i doubt, after i saw the eq2 stuff. but lets see.

if sony is willing to add over time a npc database, quest database, map database and link all to present it highly integrated with a great UI, i believe in this approach. they have the one and only complete high quality database ( at least they should) with a chance for fastest update. now add a billing plan with attractive 1 year fees and the open sites are in trouble. you bet. but dont worry, this is not what they announced for now.

after all i like this approch. especially to offer complete eq for 20$

the costs of an expansion are usually covered by the 1st buyers and the monthly fee. this builds up a solid business case.
the rest is nice contribution to profit margin.
over all the monthly fee, is much more important than every box price.
what they goal for imho is

- new players of course, but lets see how much success this will be. i doubt. perhaps some game hoppers, coming from wow and others to check out a new experience for low price until vanguard gets launched.

- but a lot of people like to come back and are shocked about the sum of prices of all expansion they need. now its easier for them.

- and more and more people are multi-boxing.

- plus the 1 to 3$ from the website.

you do the math. economically this is fully the right approach imo to keep an old game like eq1 healthy and profitable.

just my 2cp.

i agree, the eq2 stuff was quite sloppy and incomplete... many promised features never really surfaced, or at least not for the few months i was a part of it

and even moreso than that, the SOE sites/forums have always been notoriously slow... i'm not sure whether it's the traffic or bad implementation

it'd be cool if i was wrong and it became the best source for anything eq, but i doubt it

Probably a REALLY cheesy question, but just wondering if you could register Titanium on an already complete account just for the ingame items? I only have the one account, but have a full contingent of the 7 alts that could use a couple of these items in their "quests to glory". I don't like to PL my alts too much, but a few of the ingame claims are cool for lower levels. Got a 16 DE Wizzie that could use the pig for mana regen. ;)

Wouldn't it be better to spend the $20 on pp @ mysupersales? :P you would get more out of it for your money, seriously.

Think the only ingame items really worth anything were the mana/hp potions from DoN (or was it OoW?) but then they are expendable unless you are Houdini and have a way of recharging items (some old tricks may still exist, but I know of none). Other than that they go into the novelty tray - the Piggie for instance is not even as good as the cheapest mount previously available (think it is normal run speed rather), what else were there? A faction stick, hmm, the gargoyle shroud (has anyone leveled a shroud far enough to see if the advanced shrouds are even worth anything?), can't even remember anything else to be honest though they should come to my mind.

I'm pretty sure that Kytherea said if you'd already claimed an item on your account you couldn't claim it again even with Titanium... gotta find that quote now

It is a good way to fill in an expansion or two you may be missing though.

Yeah, I've already gotten all the expansions, was just wondering if you could then claim the "gifts" in another character. I've never bought plat and don't think I ever will. 8K for a slow horse isn't as expensive as it used to seem, so I'll probably go that route if/when I decide to get any Alts a mount. Was curiosity more than anything.

Was curiosity more than anything. hehe yeah, I am definitely not for *ANYONE* spending money at mysupersales, money is far too easy in this game to come by if you put your mind to it... however, I think when comparing buying the expansions solely for the free gifts, I think it is pretty comparable to buying pp, and if you bought pp you would get more for your money :P that is all I am sayin'

Hell, if you were on Drinal I would give you a horse to save you the $20 bucks :P

I purposefully bought a store copy of DoDh so that I could sell back my 10k drogmor and get the free mount. Now I wish I had just downloaded DoDh and kept the drog :) the drog that I never, ever use. ever.
