View Full Version : AA Exp FLYING!!

Just dinged 65 last night and I have only Bot, 65 Pet, Night Fire and Nights Beckon. Asked a vet lvl 67 necro in my guild if Nights Beckon was worh memming and he said no. (Another topic another day)
Anyway, AA exp FLIES at 100% in Veksar and NC just doing Murkgliders. About 3 kills in NC is a full blue. So roughly 15-17 kills is a full yellow. Now I see how you high lvl necs farm so many AA points. I know somebody will say "Take it off of 100%, ur missing out on exp." I plan on being 65 for a bit because I want to work on some AA's for the 66-70 haul.
P.S. Love the 65 pet. Scares the hell out of me when he self buffs his DS, Im thinking one of the mobs is casting on me. ;)

Ah, the good times when three kills netted a full blue was good exp. I'm not knocking ya, but when you get 1.5 yellows every two kills, you'll see how we farm AAs.

DAMN you speedy Dranul!
Yes, love, that is fun and nice. And you should enjoy it.. it's a rush.
A Lost Notebook: Hard (for example) 6 kills = one AA. Tryal can do it in one round of DoTs.. it takes me more like 2ish. But about the same time as a Murkglider Stinger took when I was 67.
Oh.. and then there is that double XP Vet AA..
But I am glad you are enjoying yourself, bluesie.

Heh..13% aa per kill in Pofire at 65 was just rediculous. It wasn't common to walk out of there with 15-20aa's in a day(after clearing time..there wasn't much incentive to do much else, pre-gates).
I really do think 80% of the "high end" raiders aa comes just from being bored and doing something to keep busy.
When droga was first revamped and those hammers off of the king were selling for 50k, I'd solo that for hours, corpsing several a night and making 200-300k an evening from 3 camps...also gaining 5-6 AA a day. Which got me really neat things like "fear storm"!
You're a necro *rejoice* (evily) we can kill repitiously faster and more consistently then any other class(if played well) in EQ.
Now if we only had more then 400-500 good AA's in which to spend....

Just curious Jebasiz. How many "Banked" AA's do you have?

The Nest, the Hive, Fire. All non-instanced, no MMs, all solo. Three best places to exp at 70, as it gets ridiculous. Fire is really, really, really lazy exp. Only 900 hitters, though fairly fast, they crawl when snared, and have the social aggro of hermits that live five thousand miles apart.
Nest and Hive are harder, death is more probable, but not once you get used to the high frequency of casters and how fast they run. Of course, I've grown to absolutely loathe cleric mobs because of the Nest.

Lol you are funny!
ONLY 900 hitters? I only have 3.7-3.8k hps buffed with my own spells. 1 round of a triple and Im at 25% life, assuming the first round ate through my forceshield, while I was liching and at 100% health, and not stunned whatsoever. In theory...I could survive a round from one of these things right? I mean anything IS possible?

I'm not saying they ain't nasty, but I do forget sometimes that my gimpy 8k buffed is some people's dream. I spend too much time talking to FV people like Feli and Anguish people like Jeb and Xel, where my 8k hp/7k mana really is gimp in comparison.

Heh, I've been REAL slack since like early 2005..I only have 1070aa's. I went like 3 months logging on raiding and as soon as raids were over../q and wind up at the zone line/entrance of txevu/tacvi, anguish or outside whatever DoN instance...which conveniently enough, half the time was where the raid that night would be...
I ran out of drink, bonechips etc it had been so long since I had banked..

*giggles*
From watching me get mooshed on an "oops" in the Hive.. my kids call that zone "one one-thousand, two one-thousand, three one-thousand, dead".
I think it can happen faster.
Quads for 1300+ are no joke. When there are two or three on you.
Of course the other night we did spell mission 70.1 "Easy" style with our friend Croix (http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=1065059) who was getting routinely whacked for 1770 by the "easy" Shades.
It's a hard new world.
I am about 9k with Conviction, barely over 7k self buffed. *blush* Xel and Jeb have the reckless disregard of the invincible.

I'm going to say.. I remember (clearly) the day I broke 2k unbuffed.. at 65 with already a "Lich".
It's never been easier to get good stuff! Jeb has a bard-lett in his guild that gained 2K HPs doing DoDH missions. I am wearing many slots of rewards and drops.
Will they upgrade Jeb and Xel, almost totally no. Will they upgrade you and me, hell yes.

Heh a warrior has gained that much to, perhaps a ranger. By time we're "done" I don't really see any caster being less then 6k hps unbuffed, any warrior under 10k unbuffed. DODH = the expansion that killed PoP. The DoN cultural and DODH spell arc rewards can almost completely outfit your toons with ~200hp items. That's pretty damn good.
Heh, my dad's beastlord breaks 9k hps with augs from DoN now...(once he has them). He was less then 7k 2 months ago.
Those shades hit me for 1800 fel..I feel your pain. BTW on hard level, anyone try pet pulling with EOT? That was light blue at 65....It could be green to them?

Sigh...Croix FINALLY passed me in hps. Oddly enough the "hard" level isn't really all that much harder. 1700hitters are like 1900hitters IIRC, it's really not much more. I know I know(before xelgadis corrects..again) their attack rate is higher..so they hit harder on average, and max hit means jack shit..but if you can tank "normal" chances are you can tank "hard" as long as you had a decent margin of error on the "normal" run.

The trick is to not get hit.
Snare at max cast range, fd on resist, be prepared to stand and re-fd if it fails.
As long as you remember to snare before you need to (you get resist in fire, sometimes a lot of them) you should be able to kite in peace and never take a single hit.
To pull you can FD on resist, move a bit and try to snare again after reset, or you cna chose to run away and resnare from max cast range as it runs at you. This depends entirely on your run speed and cast speed, but I've gotten resnares without being hit at 3sec with the Ossien of Limitless Time. As an aside, I've landed snare in 69.1 hard on unsnared mobs coming at me with Ossien without getting hit too, so you really don't need the spell!
The most annoying part of fire is all the people in it. Once tables are cleared you have to grab the 4 statics outside of tables, and then the courtyard and the castle mobs too, and you can probably kill most of those before tables repops. But they're typically camped too, so then you go read a book or make a samich waiting on repops.
When you get more hp though, you start taking hits on purpose to both relieve the monotony of pofire and to get the stupid wtd/aotd pets to attack the next mob.

That or piss off absolutely everyone else in the zone by simply trying to be "busy". I actually had an sk that was grouping by the stage train me in fire once. I was like "thanks" darkness x 5 and more exp. Fire is pretty simple, SJ2 and run...the only thing that happens after that is you create space and time to darkness/dot. You can literally kite forever with the ossein.
69.1 can be tricky pulling from the hive..I normally have a bard friend with me, I pull the field and he pulls the hive. It's pretty sick exp and easy for both of us.

Jeb, to answer your question, I pet pull with EoT all the time in any situation with white cons or higher. He is green, but you gotta make sure to not use a pet focus, since he'll be light blue at that point.

Ahh that would be what I was looking for. I'm so tired of that ahem now 48 pet getting owned.
Granted EoT was never THAT much better, but he may get stunned less.

I had General Reparm and the Omnifiend trained on me at tables on two seperate accounts, that was no fun :(
For xp in 69.1 hard (15%aaxp/kill solo) I just don't do the temple thingies. I drop xped and re-get it at that point. Now I just need two always afk ppl for group to get it /sigh. I can kite 2, maybe 3, but it's a bit of a mana drain.

My list of places to (solo) farm AAs is
1.MPG-find the spots to go and exp flies
2.RCOD-Battlemaster Rhino area ftw
3.Vxed zi-heavent really been there since hitting 70 but Decaying Smurf is 65 and can still get mad exp there.
Im sure fire and the nest are great too but I absolutly hate those two zones.Oh and 69.1 with 5 other necros is godly exp.

Yeah, get to 70 and kite the undead drakes on top of the bridge in The Nest. With double XP, I get More than a yellow per kill.
