Hey guys.
I have a 49 paladin, a 36 Ranger, a 24 Beast, and a 24 Bard.
As you can see none of those are casters. I have created a Necro on Ayonae Ro Server and was wondering how you create a successful Necro. I put all the stats in INT bc they need mana. I was wondering what items i should buy for beginning armor. I have about 7k of pp to spend. Also i would like to know what spells i should plan on getting which are useful at my level. Thanks

No matter which race you start a Necro with they all have decent Int to start with and int is very easy to raise. If had it to do over again, I would have put as many points into Sta as I was allowed. Once you get to higher levels Int is no longer a problem and HP's and Sta become much more important.
I would buy some decent Int items as well as some Lev II focus effect items. If you can, then start off with Mana pres II, Affliction Efficiency II, Burning Affliction II and Spell Haste II items.

AFAIR at 59 each extra point of STA gives me about a whole three hit points... maybe it gets better over 60, but at the moment it seems to me that those extra points of STA would be a waste, at least until you reached the point where you could max out all your other useful stats easily.

With the gear available currently, it doesn't really matter where you put those points in. Yeah, initially you might see some benefit..but you'll find as you progress, if you want a stat high, the gear is out there...some of it is even attainable. 15 int or 15 stamina is only 10k away at a bazaar near you. It's really not hard. Any stat I even half-heartedly tried to raise is around 400 atm (if it weren't capped), I don't think 20-25 points in any spot will make or break the success of a new character, it's just convenient to put it in something usefull until you get decent gear.

Everyone has thier own opinion. And mine is strength. Why? Because I farm my butt off with my necro and make a ton of cash doing it. Most of the time the stuff I hunt, drop swords or items. And until I get my gearing done on my necro there will be no 100% weight reduction bags. A rallic pack or so but nothing major. My second choice would be charisma, and thats only because Im an iksar and selling is ripping me off. Yes I know you can buy gear to switch out and have higher charisma to sell. Dont feel like it. Wastes my space to collect more while farming. To each thier own I guess.

Yeah, agreed, Strength is the only attribute that I never seem to have enough of... even with a Rallic pack and one of the Halfling 100% WR bags I'm often leaving valuable loot to rot because it's too heavy.

I know that when I was playing, I would bind my caster near a merchant. That way, if I ever got to the point where I couldn't move I'd simply gate, sell, and come back. To me, stamina at the lower levels has always been the hardest to get up. After a certain level (over 50+) you don't really need to worry about it as was stated above.

One of the things i found to be very important was Raw Hitpoints. The more i had the easier it was to Lich, off tank, tank for my pet when he was running close to death.
Something you can pick up easy and might be good for you at these levels would be a Adamantite Band. the neg 10 magic resists isn't great but its 75 hitpoints and at lower levels thats a really nice chunk. last i saw they tend to go for around 100pp in the Bazaar.

Yes i was actually looking at those.
But i was unsure because i thought necros need to have high resists so i wasnt sure if it was ok to get. I guess when i get more platinum i can upgrade. Ok thanks for your input

Binding near a merchant is a good idea depending on where you are farming. If you farm in veksar and the like. Then binding near a merchant is not a good idea. By the time you come back your camp is gone. Well at least on my server because my server is crowded.

See about getting one of these

And as for a weapon
A blood bladed dagger for damage and I would get a soul reaper for casting since it gives you a bonus to channeling.

Initially, at least, I wouldn't worry about it too much: I've bought a bunch of resist gear lately for raids, but up to 50 or so I managed happily with very little beyond natural resists and the Shielding line. Most of the time you won't be fighting many casters, and most of the time you do they'll be feared: often you can pull with Fear and Darkness them as they run past you, then pet, DoT and re-fear... then they never get a chance to cast.
In the worst case there's that common PoP drop range slot item that gives +10 save magic and summoning haste IV which sells for about 50pp in the Bazaar, which is an easy way to increase MR a bit. I forget what it's called, but I have one on my magelo.
Edit: Ah, decaying bone idol... didn't realise it had a recommended level of 50 :(.

well, by the post you have already started, but wanted to mention that int is still a prime choice to put beginning stats into, sta is my second choice. The reason is that your starting int gives you more mana than int gear. More mana more spells to cast, sure more sta means you can lich longer, but if you dont have the mana pool to have lich go into, the hp only do you good lower lvls when you are doing some of the tanking.
What I'm not sure of, but I would believe its also true, is that you can get more hit points if you put points into sta rather than gear. But as others have said you can get what ever stat gear you need, just have to farm the plat for it.
And as others have said in the end its how you play, and not really your gear or your stats that will show what kind of necro you are.
But if you have plat to spend, I would suggest a FT1 item. you can get the earring of Solstic (damn cant spell it). you can buy most of the things in the bazaar, its a no fail combine in a forage, and then you turn in the ring to Rebecca Cabbageleaf in fungus grove.

As soon as you can afford it, I suggest a Z heart. Mine changed play for me so much, especially when I first got it, it was the greatest thing ever. It balances out some of the earlier liches, and it speeds things up immensely. Don't know what it is like on other servers but right now the price on these is in a huge fluctuation on Sullon.
Heh, that's the cape I wore up until level 55

I put as many points into stamina as possible, then the rest in int (doesnt matter though its only about 5pts).
Reasoning is that Int items are -very- easy to get, while stamina increases your HPs. Necros rely on HP for their lich spells. It will also help at the lower levels while you are forced to melee them.
While going strength doesnt give you that dual usage. It only helps you melee at lower levels for the most part.
Even without that reasoning, stamina/HP gear is the hardest gear to get your hands on.
Int/Strength is not.
Also, use the bank... and destroy copper/silver to save on weight if that is a huge issue.
I'd suggest going Iskar also. But I have posted a thread on AA regen that I would have to get a knowledgable reply to until I could say they are the best class, per se.
Regardless, all Necros rule!
