stacking of focus effects?

I have on my necro burning affliction, affliction efficiency and affliction haste
When casting DOTS, i only ever see 2 focuses kick in- the affliction haste when the spell is cast initially, and the burning affliction at every tick of the DOT. I never get a message saying your affliction efficiency item shimmers.

Can you actually get benefit from the affliction efficiency AND BA foci at the same time? It would seem unlike SOE to actually allow us to save 20% mana cost on a DOT as well as giving the damage a boost.

Similarly, before I drop plat on an extended affliction focus, will it work with BA and other focuses?

Yes, they do stack, but the reason you only see one of them working at a time, is because they're doing different things.

You see one kick in to reduce the mana cost, then each tick you see the other increasing the dmg. As for the extended one, there is no message, but if you have a stop watch, you can time the dot and see that it is lasting longer than the normal time.

I never see a message from the affliction efficiency focus, ever. Should this kick in during casting? Does it give a message? (i have grey flesh gloves, they never give a message whereas my ODS (mana pres 3) gives a message on other non-DOT spells)

Well personally I don't have an affliction effenciency item, but I do have a ODS and I know that it does give a message for all spells. If you have both, take the ODS off and see if the AE items gives a message (the ODS may be overwriting it, I don't think MP stacks with AE).

What level spells are you casting at the moment. Your gloves use AE2 which only works on spells upto lvl 44.

If you're casting spells that are higher level then 44 the item wont have any effect on them.

I use a ceramic gavel of justice and I can remember seeing the message for it when the spell finishes casting.

All of the spell focus items stack but as you will see, to get most of the IV version items you will be spending a lot of money for the nice ones with big stats or buying the Ceramic versions which have virtually no stats. You will find that loading up with Foci can be a big stat trade-off at the higher lvl's.

necro is level 40, so the focus II should be good.....need to start looking for focus 3 and 4 soon, so will have to start saving i think.....

The affliction haste one you will see as soon as you start casting if it is the AH one is high enough to work on the spell you are casting. The affliction efficiency one will show soon as you cast too and reduces the mana cost but only on spells that last longer than 30 Seconds.. so dd spells are not covered by this focus; only DoTs. The BA one will show up on each tick.
