I think its between 2 and 3% additional savings for that spell line.

50 = 3%
100 = 6%
200 = 11 or 12% iirc.

When I solo 69.1 I use:

Clicky snare
Night Fire
Pyro (clicky ele pants)
Funeral Pyre of Kelador
Pyre of Mori
Dread Pyre

Renare about every minute (they resist now and then)

Refresh some dots, the lower mana cost ones, as needed.

Now and then I'll toss on a Dark Nightmare depending on mana, but I'll run basically the fire lines there for decent mana pres.

i went for alteration for my main specialization and secondary forte conjuration

why did i? and why do i stick to alteration???

well, usually we necs dont need so much mana to stack dots, whatever line.
but IF a nec is in trouble he starts to lifetap, and thats alteration! such simple.

i give a piece of shit on all these conjuration spells lately. i will stay with alteration.

now i got dread pyre. and should i tell you what? me nec was right :lol:

just like to add, before any discussion about main specialization of a nec starts at all here)

I figure like a lot like Usul. Dreadpyre is the biggest mana cost spell we have, thus the savings is the largest on it. The conjuration dots..by comparison in cost and frequency to cast..I don't care, mainly due to how I manage my mana, and when I'm casting those spells.

Lifetaps, when we're LoM and dotted/ae'd etc and that's when mana preservation counts most.

Not advocating changing Primary Spec from Alteration to Conjuration.

or which spell do you nec cast if under fire and decide to NOT go fd and fight.
any other spell you do really miss in eq2 or wow? just a question :lol:

Newp.. too lazy and I am happily casting almost entirely Conjuration DoTs as I solo.

I only Cast Dread Pyre when I am Full Mana or Gift of Mana hits.

Even with Spec Alteration you connot tell me you can cast Dread Pyre on each mob and maintain your pace?

I may be wrong.. but I am not changing again.. it's working for me.

So there.

P.S. For the record, Usul is right.. but I am not changing right now.

honestly,

in a normal group i do cast

corath venom
dread pyre
desecrating darkness (if no other snarer)
MW
perhaps call for blood if next mob is near for next dot cycle, e.g waiting mezzed already in camp.

and no, i got no mana issues doing so. if i do, in a very very very fast pulling group. i skip cv for a while.
if i have not to snare i am fine doing that in the fastest exp group forever

PS: regarding gift of mana, i dont go for it like cfb or other triggered spells. if it triggers, i take it as a gift.

On getting spec conjuration up from 50 to 100, the main thing to make sure of is getting it to 51 over accidentally getting, say, abjuration. After that, a 6 hour xp grind in the the Nest using mostly conjuration dots saw me hitting 100 by the end of the night.

With a spell rotation like Usul in a group..everyone else is going to be OOM before he is even close.

MW is also alteration, so you don't lose a full 300 mana casting it.

The rest..kinda goes without saying that it's not THAT aggressive towards your mana bar. Inevitably you or someone else in your group is going to have to afk to goto the bathroom or get a drink (which'll result in going to bathroom later) etc and cause enough downtime to med back up to full, instead of floating between 60-75mana like normal.

I know when pulling for a non-kite group..it's goddamned hard to not be 90+ mana 75% of the time in most situations.

Either primary spec is fine, you just need to tailor what you cast and when...according to that spec(sometimes..).

When I solo 69.1 I cast DP at least 1x on every mob, with or without GoM in the firts round of dotting on the alteration line. Sometimes I'll toss it on a second time with or without GoM. No down time :P

For none pen n' paper geeks, she has a script that randomly selects between a dozen or so sigs.
