44 Nec... Where to Hunt???

Hello :) A friend Told me about these forums and told me to check them out.. So i did :D I currently have a DE Necro of 44 Seasons and i was wondering if any of you could help me find a nice place to solo?? I'm all up for New Places as there is much of Norrath and Luclin i havent explored.. any advice would be very much appriciated :D

I've always gone through Dreadlands with my chars...plenty of mobs, and the option of grouping if you get bored of solo.

If you pull mobs back between the SE ruins and next ruins to the north of them, once the mob gets there, snare it and fear it....the mobs will path right up towards KC and run into the wall. they run slightly at an angle, but they'll just still be running into the wall while your pet, and your dots kill it.

Oh...and at 45 go grab a kei...best thing till ya get lich at 49. =p

44 is the perfect level for the perfect hunting place IMO. Make your way to the Crystal Caverns and cozy yourself up with the Geonids. Best exp/loot solo spot from 44-49 i've always thought. Can make 1500pp/hr once your able to regularly move up and down the tunnel killing all of them.

No special technique, although I would reccomend fighting from bottom to top, since they walk down when they death walk and you wont have to worry about adds.

snare,pet,dot etc...

You can hunt the Geo's before 44 but the 44 spells are what make the camp doable all the way up before respawn.

Truly great exp off these guys.

I have Hunted in CC from 42 - 44 already :-) and i did find it a bit tricky but i havent yet tried with my new spells... Only Problem i found is that i cant sell to the merchants yet... and thats fairly irritating lol have been killing rygorrs atm... in hope i dont have to kill many more to be able to sell to the merchants their.... :wacko: may try DL soon as its easier to reach thanks for help guys :-)

Well, I try to hunt undead since we did better against them. So I've tried to stick with those areas.

I hunted in Kaesora from 38-46. There is an 18% XP bonus down there. At your level I went down to the church area where Xalgoz himself spawns. Great xp, very good money, and with the bonus even the light blues are good to kill. Find a safe spot, it's kind of a niche in the wall, and Rest the Dead them, then pull with slow, and sick the pet on it. Nuke it or DOT it, whichever you want, and our pet will chew it up.

I'm now, at 47, down in Lower Guk dead side hunting the undead. There is also an xp bonus down there and all you fight is undead so all our vs. undead spells are great. After slowing them, my pet fought 4 blue/light blue mobs back to back before I gave him a break.

Mana, as usual for us necros, is never a problem. You don't have to cast that much. Getting a temperance or virtue helps too but it's not necessary. I hope to stay down in Lower Guk until 50.

IIRC there is no way to up your faction with the city in CC, unfortunately. :(

I did Geos in CC when I could get the camp. When I couldn't get the camp, I went up to Echo Caverns on the side going to the Deep and did the underbulks, stomegrabbers and fungal fiends there. Get to 49 and you can probably do the Taskmaster camp in Echo which can take you to 51 if you really need it to.

Compared to CC, the loot was abyssimal, but the bonus was it was easy to get to, easy to leave to sell and there was the zone line into the Deep if things got totally out of control and I needed to make a run for it. There are a couple of named that drop complete garbage (like under 20pp in the bazaar... if you can get anyone to buy it at all) that might be a trifle challenging at 44, but there's often a higher level camping the Taskmaster for the organs for the EB necklace quest that you might ask for help on the named (unfortunately, most necros start KOS in Katta, so the quest itself is mostly pointless for us). The TM camp also can occasionally spawn a named Thought Horror (Xilinov or something like that). He's a chanter and I found him to be completely out of my league .. tho I did see a 65 druid drop him a couple of times.


Kaesaora, I've heard is good at your level, but I've never tried it myself. You might also want to look into LoY. I didn't really discover LoY till my mid 50s, but I suspect that in the 40s you could hunt in Gunthak, and a lot of those mobs are undead. Unfortunately, tho, since I didn't do it myself I can't give you much advice on pathing, where to set up camp or anything like that.

IIRC there is no way to up your faction with the city in CC, unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure you can raise faction by killing the orcs either inside CC or out in EW. I was getting some faction messages yesterday when killing the orcs at the fort in EW to get Ry'gorr armor for my alts:

Perhaps I'm in the wrong spot in CC. But the Geonids seem to have a 25 min spawn cycle and even with crappy gear I manage to walk through all of them in about 10 mins. Are there more Geonids then just those in the one tunnel?

I have posted this on Sslythers hunting guide, but will repost a little here.

I spent from 40 to 50 in FV at a giant camp near eastern swamp zone. I will admit while the loot isnt as nice as say geos, the loot there is decent. I made one level per 4 hour session roughly. Three mobs there in camp. First always comes single and the other two can be mezz pulled. At mid 40s you might be able to run through all three before repop, but it wasnt untill i hit 48 that i could run through all three AND have decent med time afterwards. Surprisingly they repop fast. They are non social, so you can fear them right through camp with pet beating on them and as long as you are out of aggro range they will stand there and watch.

Back when I was level 44... there was only Antonica and Kunark... made my way from 44 to 47 in Timorous deep, slaying tons of chickens... a few pp per kill and lots of research words for 44 and 49 spells... I know there are more uber places now but just wanted to add my spot anyway :rolleyes:

when i was 44 i hunted in DL at the PlagueBone thief's camp theyre really good for XP and they drop a lot of bonechips , the necros fav item hehe :P

tim deep is the best ever snare fear put pet on it throw a good dot and they dead constant chain pulls pretty much unlimited mobs sense no one ever hunts there and its good money

Aye Echo Caverns By Far the best exp at those levels. I did 40 to 50 there, By 44 you should be able to Hold the room before the taskmaster with ease just fear kite them down the long tunnel. 2 mobs to watch for Trillcor a nasty fiend type mob resistant and hits like a Mofo. And then Fireclaw a HUGE underbulk also resistant and Nasty. At around 48 you should be able to take on the taskmaster as well. And his minions just remember to leave 1 standing. If not you risk Xilmonov?? Spawning a real nasty Enchanter type who'll proceed to charm you. You should be able to clear the 8 spawn cycle in the lower room with 5 mins to spare before repop, to start cycle again.

At 44 I hunted in DL and did a few LDoN groups. I know at 47 though, I'm having a lot of fun in OOT killing Sea Furbies. They drop some decent loot, and it's easy enough to single pull or FD off other adds. But if you can get near the named giant (Gornit or something forget the actual name) he can drop up to 40 plat in one kill.

If you're into soloing, Spectres and SGs in Oasis are still pretty good solo xp for you. Spectres should carry you to 48, and SGs will give minor xp and good loot. So, if your server doesnt have Spec isle camped Id say that you could do 44-48 pretty well. Nice time to try your undead charm spells too.

Yes you can get faction with the frostone dwarfs in cc by killing the orcs down there. This was not allways the case however. I do not know when they changed it, but a LONG time kiling the orcs didnt have any faction hits at all. I went back a month or so ago to kill the spider queen when I was bored and killed a few orcs on the way in and saw the change. Good deal too since when you are down there exping you prob dont want to leave and it is nice to get a faction change so as to sell your loot better without having to leave to get the best price.

I'm currently 42, just went back to the dark world after a LONG playing time with a monk. I now see the ways. ;)

Is it better to exp in a group or solo? I'm looking to get to 44 in the next day or so.

A good group will be faster than solo... but a bad group will be slower.
