View Full Version : Looking for good soloing at 55+
My necro is halfway to lvl56 and Iam in need of a new soloing spot. I group in the planes and solo when I dont have alot of time or just feel like it.
I've soloed in Dulak from 51-55, but the exp has slowed to 1% for 3 kills. Maybe this is normal for the lvl, but I am not sure. Dulak is nice and safe and has great loot, but I'd rather have more risk and more exp if that's possible.
Do the reavers in SD give more than 1% for three kills?
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

I soloed in PoN for awhile and at 55 you could deffinantly do PoJ. Im not sure about the reavers. If you have the time. Howling stones was nice too. You can also do veksar and droga. Droga takes some mad skills though because the pulls are tough.

Eyez:
A good place I found was the scounds in Echo Caverns. They are in the area behind the stone wall (turn right once you have passed the guards as you zone into Echo) you just have to click the rock. Once through the rock follow the path around until you come into the open area.
The Scounds are to your left, they will be seen guarding the opening to the castle (looks like a castle). Cant remember if you can single pull at 55, or you need 56, but they can be FD pulled. Once you have killed those there are two apprentices and a Blade Master to your left and two apprentices and a Bow Master to your right as you enter the castle potal. There are also two merchants that are hidden behind the entranceway, one on either side. Leave these guys alone till you are higher (they are red to me at 57).
The method that I use (assuming single pull) Darkness, Envenomed Bolt, Fear, (lvl 4 because of pathing), Splurt, back out aways and sit. When fear wears off re-Fear, then sit again. On next "Fear has Worn Off" re-Darkness then re-Fear then just wait for the corpse.
In between just Lich and Shadow Bond as needed.
Use your lvl 53 pet, he will do some hellacious damage. Pull to the open area where the tents are. The merchants there will not assist, neither will they sell or deal with you either (that figures eh!!)
Now for the nice part. If you go up the stairs (you should see these as you are pulling inside the castle) you will find two archers, (they do not move when hit. But fire arrows) just fear, send pet, then DOT. Rinse with the other Archer. They drop two bows and a arrow every time. The bows sell for 23pp each (with steins), so the exp is good and you can make cash also. When you get higher lvl (the addition of extra manna) there are two more scounds up by the bank (it is back in the opposie corner of the castle. Up some stone steps) you can kill.
Oh! one last thing. Keep DMF up all the time as you can easily fall from the ramparts.
Hope covered everythig. Hehe!
Good Hunting ;) ;)

There's always the old standby of Katta, no idea whether the XP will be better or worse than Dulak but it's certainly not 1% per kill. Set up your pet in the graveyard or behind the bar near the bank, Lich/Demi Lich, pull a guard with Splurt, run back to your pet, throw on Dooming Darkness, send in the pet, throw on Bond of Death, Invoke Fear and wait for the guard to die. Not sure if you can single pull every time at 56 or whether you need 57 for that... when I was there and got double pulls I normally just kited both.

I would try the Gargoyls that sit on the fence surrounding PON City. PON city/graveyard is in the southeast corner of the zone. The easiest way to get there is head to the hedge by traveling north from the grave yard/zone in. Then circling the entire zone along the edge till you get to pon city. The gargs drop diamonds, raw, and BD and range about lvl57. If you camp on the SE side you have the entire hillside to kite on (DMF makes this easier to deal with the slope.) groups of pet classes tend to kill the fastest here, with a necro kiting. But your traditional balanced group can do well too, but the adds will need to be seperated from MT or group will wipe. If you bring a group of friends with you there are banshee (summoners) that can be pulled once the gargs are cleared from the walls. You will get more then one banshee a pull, however, if you root and slow only, the add mobs will not summon any group members. A simple divide and kill stratagy works well for crowd control. The banshee also supposedly drop a +int waist item, however, I killed probubly 50-100 banshees' and never got a drop. The banshees' are in the same lvl range as the gargs and the multiple pulls makes for exciting game play. At 56 you might need to do some FD pulling to migigate the adds, since the gargs and banshee crypts are in very close proximity.
Spell notes:
Dooming darkness for snare since you will be resisted often at sub60 and there is nothing worse then getting Insuffient mana to cast when you really need a snare. If you single pull with snare and you get resisted, root imeddiatly and try to resnare. That works best since these things run fast unsnared.
DOTs - pile every dot you can land on them... and the key here is to keep the dot stack refreshed to keep your pet from grabing aggro, which if it does will be toast in secs.
PET - Backstabber (until LoZ pet,) taunt off

I tried some of the suggestions....
The Reavers in SD are a waste IMO. Takes 3 kills for 1% exp at Lvl56, they cast on you, and the loot is crappy. If you're gonna go for exp like that just got to Dulak and grab a ship. The loot is good and its pretty safe.
Echo Caverns was also a waste for me. Same 3 kills for 1% exp and mediocre loot - very easy though.
Agro kiting near zone-in in PoN was 1% exp per kill - very nice. Also, very dangerous, but higher risk should equal higher reward ;) No loot at all here.
I'm looking forward to trying the gargoyles in PoN today.

The Reavers in SD are a waste IMO.
I tend to agree, but one benefit of SD, like Katta, is that they're rarely camped... in Dulak the boats are usually camped precisely because you get some decent loot. In fact I may take my Mage to SD next time I feel like solo grinding with little risk since AFAIR the mobs cast disease spells and the Earth pet is pretty much immune.
Maybe I missed it in skim reading, but if you can handle Plane of Mischief, the experience is really good at your level. Get virtue, DDarkness snare, your best Dots and aggro kite. Keep your fast root loaded for those occasional snare resist. When you tire of this, invis and walk due north from the PoM zone-in and about halfway to the castle start clicking on trees. One of them will port you to Cobalt Scar. From there, zone into Siren's Grotto. As soon as you zone in, cast Levant, and exit Sirens to Western Waste. From there head to Dragon Necropolis. Aggro kite Phase spiders...lots of safe room to kite. Stay near zone, you get in trouble, click the pillar and zone out, med and zone back. Good exp. :)

I had a great time in PoS soloing Hurricane/Typhoon Loroks(frogs).
In the forest area follow the right zone wall all the way back to ?xXx? the Mysterious (Event NPC that does not assist any mobs). Agro kite frogs along the zone wall you followed to this spot. Nothing but giants will assist frogs. Low magic resists but procs a "Froaking Mist" poison DoT. Ethereal Parchments are about 2% chance of dropping. Good vendor trash loot 7-19pp each. No gems however. If more than 2 peeps are hunting these you won't be able to find enough up. I find that early mornings I am alone in zone and have plenty to kite. Sometimes you gotta do a bit of truckin around to find em but they are well worth the effort. Oh and they are a slow mob so if darkness is resisted it's no problem getting distance to recast. Very long kite run is convenient. The only wandering mob(besides other frogs) that you need to look out for is a Grezlan Cub. KOS to everyone but a rare spawn that is only 46th level. The only dire charmable mob in zone btw(I think). Very low hp's and not worth using.
IMPORTANT!! You must not get to far out of spell range as they lose agro very quickly if you do. They then regen at 15% or more per tick untill you re-agro. Big pain in the butt.

Plane of Mischief is wonderful. I am getting 1% exp per kill and 3% aa per kill at 58. Not too damn bad:)

just wanted to let anyone inerested in the Echo Caverns Scounds know, that the archers do summon, so be careful. Pulled the scounds no sweat at 56. Then, from the outside of the castle, i feared an archer...he didnt run, so i darknessed and stacked dots on...right when i got the fear has worn off message, said archer summoned me. I dont know if this was because i was working form the outside of the castle or not, just wanted to give anyone one a heads up. Factions are Shadow Haven smugglers and Paludal bandits (negative) and plus two specific houses. cant remember which.

PoM is just on the opposite side of thugardin in Great Divide. ( aka thug is at one end of the river, PoM is at the other. Click on the castle to enter PoM )

Ok! sorry, :( "Yes" I should have mentioned that the archers do summon. But if you fear them first (again lvl 4 fear) then send pet, wait for fear to fade then fear again. Then! you cast splurt, envelomed bolt and sit. Of course keep your pet augmented. By doing it that way the archers will not shoot arrows nor will they summon. But, its important that you wait for the first fear to drop before casting, that way your pet has agro. Then just keep fear up until the archer is at about 10% life, after that there's no problem. ;)
Don't try and fight the archers from out side, you need to go upstairs and fight. If you keep your pet near you, as you go up the stairs, it can take any agro from the archer. ;)
Before going upstairs, you will have to clear the Blademaster and his appentices. Plus the Bowmaster and his apprentices (kill the apprentices then the master, in each case ) you will be able to pull them singularly with dooming darkness. Pull to the center of the hallway then run straight out to the outside or you could get agro from the merchants. :( :(
Just work with this rotation!...Scounds at the door, apprentice #1, apprentice #2, master, apprentice #3, apprentice #4, master, (watch the female she seems to walk faster than the guys) upstairs for archer #1 then Archer #2.
Keep DMF up incase you fall of the battlement..hehe it hurts.
Ok! I hope that explains it a little better. Have fun and dont forget each archer drops 2 bows. They sell for approx. 23pp with 2 Opal Encrusted steins loaded.
I have had a great deal of fun there. Hope you do too..
Be safe
