So, who's going to fix out PoR spells now?

As of this week I’ve taken a position on another game team working on an unannounced title here at SOE. It was a difficult decision for me to make as I still love EverQuest. Ultimately after 4 and a half years, 9 expansions, and what seems like a million spells it’s time for me to move on to something new. I wish I could tell you more about the project I’m moving to, but you’ll hear about it soon enough! When you do, I hope you’ll be as excited to play it as I am to work on it.

My time on this team has been great, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’ve very much enjoyed working with all of the players that have participated in all of the betas, and all the people that took the time to send me feedback on all manner of issues. Thanks for making us make this game better.

I’ll still be around a bit to address some lingering issues and answer a few questions on the boards if needed, and I’m sure I’ll run into many of you in other games. Until then, thanks for playing the game that our team has put so much of our hearts into!

I asked that yesterday, too.

Two part answer really.
1)Hes not gone yet, and when he is, he will "advise" so to speak. Death Rune has like 10 bugs in it which I forwarded earlier in the week for fixing etc.... So that should be priority for him before he leaves I hope. Nearly all auras/traps have issues whether it be range, lag, or just flat total gayness factor.
2) His replacement shouldn't be far off. I asked who, but no answer yet. I hope its someone that knows the game well and is reasonable to work with. Before PoR, necros had been doing pretty well spellwise for a while, so Rytan overall was an ally. DoDH is a great example.

Yeah there's much disatisfaction with traps, though some classes really like their auras (bard songs). It's funny the auras are actually so much better than the traps; they last a lot longer, move with the player, and affect an ae range of players (or maybe just the group). Some traps are ae like the shammy one however.

Some things our trap could be:
Aura of Death
ae mini-lich
+7mana
-4hp
15minute duration.

Death Runes
same as death rune only it sticks around for 15min and redots mobs in area as it wears off, and dots multiple mobs, and has all its bugs fixed.

Aura of Power
+10% to dot crits, ae
stacks with bard song
15min duration

Something I pointed out before, dotting multiple mobs is bad.

For groups:
1) Multiples with adds that are damaged enough to summon you, so you can't kite them.
2) If you have a chanter, expect to be bitched at once he dies five times.

For raids:
1) Non-damage aggro is usually the best for off-tanking.
2) Again, you usually don't want adds being damaged enough to start summoning.
3) Prepare for the whole raid to bitch at you if your trap breaks five mezzes at once.

The current version of our Death Runes is broken no matter what you do. It was a mistake that should be fixed.
