Okay. Just got myself lvl 66, and my 41st AA. With leveling to 66 I purchased Death Peace ( OMFG I LOVE IT WOOO ), And then I got CA1 for effect. Now I think I am gonna take advantage of this 2/4x exp situation to burn through some AA's. I really dont want to get too too far ahead of myself when it comes to spells.
So I have:
Spell Casting Mastery 3
Combat Agility 2
Combat Stability 1
Natural Durability 1
Theft of Life 1
Critical Affliction 1
If I try to fill out my archtypes, I am gonna be looking at 26 more aa's. If I look into filling out the ToL & CA lines as far as I can get at this level I am looking at 30 aa's. Cant decide what to do =P
Gonna attempt to get my hands on some runes so I can get the 66 dot before i try to level up anymore. Still trying to find Funeral Pyre around somehow. Need to find a good place to mine some aaxp over the next few days if i am looking to get my hands on 56 aa's quickly.
I am always torn on what aa's to get

Critical Affliction! That's my vote.
Heh, as to where to xp... during a double xp weekend, its almost a matter of grab any place that you can find.

Your tellin me, sheesh. Its crazy. I was farting around in NC and for the heck of it started doing LFG for some exp grinding, and lookin for some people to do some spell arc missions, hello 69.1 anyone? and NOBODY was biting. lol.
Although i had a REAL kick out of the fact that a 70 war, 65 zerker, and a 69 cleric joined me farting around with the murks near the DS zone in NC....
I was oom, so the tank was pulling. I go afk a min, come back and the dude says "2 inc." He acually pulls 3. They start freaking out, I am at 60% mana, snare all 3, and start kiting 2 of em.
The war and zerker start in on the remaining murk as i kite the other two around.
A minute later, i drop one murk and they freak like "dang! your killing them faster than us!" and then i drop the second one about 5 seconds before they drop theirs. AND i was running by dotting the mob they were fighting.
I was laughing so hard at that i almost screwed up my keyboard with a soda.
I loved it. was doing over 1k dmg a tick at times with Night Fire, BoT, Dark Plague, and Pyro ;P
cant wait till i get bigger spells, and CA maxxed, hehe!
Goddamn i love being a necro. :D  :P

I was basically in the same situation as you a few levels back
What i did at 66 for steady (but boring) exp was HoH guards. with the double bonus they're about 10% AA per kill, and drop fairly quickly.
I found i could do an AA in maybe 30-45 minutes depending on how hard i was trying. There's a guide for it both here and on eqnecro or whatever, it's very easy once you get the hang of it. You have to do some FD splitting, the hardest part is the unsnarable sentries but they're still quite doable.
I'd suggest going for CA, it's a pain, especially level 3 which costs 9 AA, but it's awsome to have.
I did CA3, finished 66 and ICA1 in maybe 8-10 hours there (so 30% of 66 and 12AA's) while watching Dr. Strangelove and other stuff, and i'd suggest going for at least CA2, the crits are a Godsend, especially when DN crits twice for 1400 in one cast. Other stuff is nice but CA directly translates into DPS.
Once you get to 67 you can train ICA1 which i think is another 3% chance to crit, and it's only 3AA.
Also, get Funeral Pyre. You can farm for the words and get a friendly nec researcher to make it for you, or you can farm cash or you can farm the words or you can go kill the mobs that drop it but you really should get it. If you don't have the cash for it now though, just kill without it and get it after the double exp is done.
Oh yeah, HoH guards drop hero parts semi-common which bazaars for about 250pp per on my server, if you camp here for long enough to max CA you should walk away with maybe 10+k worth of stuff, so put that into your FP fund! You will have to deal with the unsnareable sentries however, so make sure you have a affliction haste item.
My guild wont stop asking me to pull 69.1s. I don't mind but that gets old sometimes.

Getting Funeral Pyre sohld be an easy task. But when the words sell for 10k, and the spell consistantly is offered up for 25-30k. Its a little tricky.
I have been using Night Fire, Blood of Thule, And Dark Plague, and occasionally for extra dps casting Pyro, Splurt, and Morternum.
Been killing Murks and stuff in NC near the WoS zone, so when they run I just use skullcap clicky so keep my health up.
Funeral Pyre has been my bane so far. I just cannot get my hands on this spell. I got the words for it before, had to shell out 10k just for torment (i think?) , The dude charged me 1k for the combine, then failed it, and /q'd on me without giving it back. F*cker /ignored me after that...so i have been very leery of having people do the combine for me. My research is only at 165, so i know i cant make it yet.
When i get home i am gonna post screenshots i took in the bazaar, I just dont know why it is so damn much on Quell.. =\
Although i must say, seeing Pyrocuror crit for 344 dmg was pretty fun :)

The 2 places I would recommend is HoH or Vxed.
My first choice is Vxed. Instance zone so np having camps filled. Its an easy solo and can be used for AA exp or regular exp to 70. Not alot for reward for this camp so this doesn't help your Funeral Pyre issue. Possible decent mask drop off the trash if you haven't gotten the 69.1 mask. Not as fast as other zones for exp but doable with crappy equipment or missing spells without much hassle. Remeber mites can't be snared. Dogs run dam fast, pooka's can be resnared if first attempt is resisted. Also watch for names down the left passage from the enterance, they summon and will ruin your day. Worse part of Vxed is getting new missions when mites block your way. You will run thru good patches and bad point were you see nothing but mites. You can split mobs pass mites pretty easily, they are faster then pookas but slowed then the dogs. As long as you kill 1 mob from a mission you can get another mission immediately. If you don't get at least 1 kill you will have a 3 min delay between getting a new mission. Overall the exp is good and worth the frustration.
If you choose HoH it would be for 2 reasons. 1 Vxed is still acting buggy. Yesterday I was having problems getting into the zone. Would get the mission like I have a million other times but it would not see me in the mission and let me zone over. The exp in HoH will probably be less then Vxed, but still should be decent AA exp. Plus your spell economy is probably similar to ours on Zek. I would check on Spec Parchment prices. I farmed AA exp for a longtime in HoH and was able to get alot of spec drops that I sold for decent plats. Bought me most of my runes and a chain horse. I would imagine you could do the same. I found Nec and Cleric spec spells sold the best. You might kill 2 birds with one stone farming HoH. There are guides you can search on this site. NE basement is best spot. Named spawn in the room doesn't summon or have friendly aggro and is on a faster respawn time then normal mobs and should be dropped whenever it up. Can make the cycle easily be a 9 mob cycle or you can pull guards from next room if you still have time. The center dark square is a safe zone and mobs won't aggro there when you uninvised.
Hope this helps.

Definitely max out as much of Critical Affliction as possible. If you solo alot the Combat agility and combat Stability line are excellent as well. However, due to different playstyles other AAs may seem more important. At 66 HoH is a decent place to kite. Vxed is also a good choice. I would recommend hitting 67 before working AAs though. Once you get Lost Soul you will have more versatility.

CA3 is huge
ToL3 is really nice too, but not essential
for defensives... i'd suggest working your entire way through the avoidance lines before bothering with mitigation... with the way mobs hit these days, unless you plan on becoming a 10k+ necro in the near future, you'll get much more return from the avoidances when you end up in a situation where you might get hit... ND is similar, as it is only adding a relatively small amount on HP
don't get me wrong, the above are good, just not as good as avoidance
run5 is also huge too as you expand your kiting options

I agree with most of the opinions here. Finish most of those archetypes. Spellcasting Fury is good to have along with ToL. I did Combat Agility (avoid) and Natural Durability (raw HP) without mitigation. Channeling Focus as well. Crit Affliction, of course, is a must.
I'm 65/100+ since I can't afford most spells for now. Been grinding out AAs by the handful in HoH and Noble's, mostly. The first double exp weekend - what, 6 weeks ago? - I was 62 with about 25 AAs.
My only problem at the moment is that I don't have GoD and can't get CA or Run5. :( As soon as I start working again, though, I'm definately picking that up. Keeping a few AAs banked just for that occasion. ;)
