Okie, its me again, and I am looking for more aa advice. I am kind of at a crossroads with Gnek. I am just about 270aa (will get there tonight, and finish off SCF3) which although is not a large number of aas at all but I am once again losing focus of what aa's I should buy that will make a difference in my game playing. My magelo (http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=992851).
My current aas (will add SCF3 just for completedness - tradeskills):
Run3
Regen3
MC1
SCF3
SCM3
CA3
CS3
ND3
Pet Discipline
Life Burn
LR5
Suspended Minion 2
ToL3
WtD3
SJ2
CA3
Death's Fury 1 (eye candy purchase)
Quickening of Death 1 (eye candy purchase)
Advanced ToL1 (should get the next level here)
Death Peace
Mnemonic Retention
ICA3
AotD3
GoM3
AM1 (will finish this but no hurry at ~1% per 7aa - and getting parses with it)
Where should I go now? What would you recommend that might make a difference in your game play? I am not a raider so some of the raid specific aa's are out. I will probably work on more avoidance aa's but I am not in any rush with them either (the next two lines are pricey for what seems to be a minimal return). I could work more on DD Crit nukes / ToL lines, but again I am so rarely casting taps that it doesn't really make a priority for me (I would like to start tap tanking more challenging content but not in any rush for it).
The mitigation aas can be put way on the back burned. I bought CS3 and don't notice any difference really. I am sure it is helping, but to what degree and what cost to finish those mitigation lines?
What about?
Mend Companion (5aa)
Hastened Mending 3 (6aa)
Replenish Companion 3 (18aa)
--------------------------------------
29aa for a nice pet heal... worth it?
Almost seems like a fun aa to have, but the number of times lately that my pet is taking damage and I would even be able to hit the button before it is dead seems to be few and far between. Tap tanking again this might come in handy.
What are your opinions? I know there are still so many options for me but I feel like I am running in a hamster wheel and not getting anywhere with my aa's. My last puchases (in order to show you the chaose) Pet crits1, Pet flurry1, advTol1,SCF1,CS1,CS2,AM1,SCF2,CS3... no direction almost just purchasing to purchase :P
Help a noam out!

how is your self buffed regen? how about your mana regen?
I am about the same boat as you except I raid more. I'm one skinaway from the new lich which has a pricey drain on it and I barely keep my health from the OoW lich drain. So I am starting to invest in the self regen AA's. You are losing one mana per tick from blocked FT, if you get more upgrades anytime soon you may want to bump that up.
As a non-raider, do you nuke that much to make sense to get more nuke crit AA's?
Best bet would be to list what you do NOT want, then what you do NOT need, then work on what is left...
How about your stats?
Planar Power and Innate Enlightenment will boost your man pool by 400ish, and HP by a bit too.
Innate Invis Undead is handy, so is Cloak of Shadows
I would also max out AM3(DoDH) just be cause 2% more chance for crits is better the 2% less chance.
Persistant Minion is worth the 7 AA's
if you pet tank much, then pet mend AA's are good
Swarm of Decay is nice eye candy too
Fiegned Minion is so worth it to me, when I can't get aggro and pet is ready to die, bam, I now have aggro and pet starts to med and I don't need another bone chip. Pet pulling is nice too if you do that often
I also burned 3 into Innate Metabolism just to save a little money on food
Since you pretty much ruled out defensive, go for fun, you have most of your damage line complete.

I find those 2 in conjunction quite ok - use them maybe once or twice a weak (usually when I get careless or lazy or sleepy and poor Goner has to pay for it .. again :D ).
I just hate to lose pets, poor guys. Fight so valliantly.
Mend if the pet gets aggro but fails FD, then try to FD it again.
Mend is also OK for some summoning named where you just sacrifice your pet(s) while letting your DoTs run and 'the more, the merrier' is maxime (pet - enrage , mend, die, epic pet, suspended pet, swarm, wtd, trying to summon one .. something like that) - pretty situational though.
Don't think going from 300 to 800 AA gives the same improvements as going from 0 to 300 though, so it's really up to your playstyle which of the situational AA benefit you more.

I find that I don't use the pet feign/mend aa's much.
When my pet gets agro he tends to get dead in half a tick so it's really more a matter of making sure he doesn't get agro, and isn't attacking at enrage.

Yea, I probably don't hunt that hard content - usually where I can run my 66 boxed beastlord around (NC or WoS, sometimes HoH if I need to relax) or requesting instances with him- so chances Goner survives a few hits for mend to be usefull are better.

/sigh that is probably the best list
<s>Spell Casting Fury 3 (6aa - will get this tonight)</s>
Advanced Theft of Life 2 (5aa)
Fury of Magic <s>1,2</s>,3 (9aa)
Soul Thief 1-3 (15aa) (what is the % of heal crits here?)
Fury of Magic Mastery 1-3 (18aa)
<s>Affliction Mastery 2 and 3</s>
<s>Mental Clarity 2-3</s> (not sure if I would want to invest 10aa's for 2 FT, maybe much further down the road)
<s>Innate Invis to Undead (3aa) </s>- this is definitely useful when needed... but do you remember the last time I even worried about invis to undead? well me neither... /sigh :)
<s>Feigned Minion (9aa)</s>- I can definitely see the value in this
<s>Persistant Minion</s> hmmm, what situations does this really make any difference?
<s>Cloak of Shadows</s> (have cos, though far far down the road I wouldn't mind getting this
That gives me 80-90aa's to work on... which without a double xp weekend will probably be a couple of months at least :)
Any thoughts on the value of Secondary Forte? I do find myself casting chaos plague/dark plague a fair amount and am just one rune away from chaos venom now... and potentially my guild is starting to really want to finish up the DoDh spell tasks (we have been dragging our heals on them)

What is everyone's thoughts on Swarm of Decay as well? I keep hearing such a mixed bag on it.

That's right, I keep forgetting that you don't keep a suspended pet cross zoning without persistent minion... that does make it more valuable.

IMO archers suck, even with all pet aa's.
Yes they have situational usage, but their damage output is so low (low atk), and the recast timer so long, and the pet crit/flurry aa's so infrequent at max, and their hp so low (they die instantly), that it's very little dps for very many aa's.
WTB some parses of just the archers with max pet aa's plz that shows otherwise.

But they look so cute.
And are always nice to have around to taunt rangers.
(edit: on a more serious sidenote, I think they are pretty useless for dps. Never done any parses, but they barely put a dent into a lvl 62/63 PoV mob in run mode when my dots have run out - I either have to send in Goner or click the pyro pants)

but do you remember the last time I even worried about invis to undead? well me neither...Actually I am using it a lot in Arcstone. Seems they put that undead area right int he middle of my route to everywhere, just about, and it's really nice to just click on the fly between Innate invis and innate invis to Undead.
Btw.. the hunting there is nice! I was getting almost 2 blue a kill pet tanking. I would be doing better if i could ever get some of my DoD spells or Glowing runes, as they have a lot of HP, but they hit like hot butter once you slow them. Just be sure you SLow them! they are a bit of a pain without it!

Just got 2nd level of Swarm of Decay myself. Running around casting level 1 last week, I noticed 1 major thing: at level 1, it got 3-4 attacks as archer. For max of 301.
If you are doing a push for the DoDH spells, some of the 70 spell tasks have quite a few undead. I actually purchased IVU AA in the middle of pulling 70.2, just to make life easier, and also 70.1 has a bunch of undead at beginning. But, if you won't be the puller for them, something to hold off on.

Well it got the general point across...
I'm surprised anyone noticed, I thought it was going to be my little inside joke :(

But, if you won't be the puller for them, something to hold off on. Well if Schaeffer would ever log in again I might not have to be the puller... noted though, I think I will pick up IVU aa next.

Sure, sacrifice the Lizard, what's with that? Why don't you bug the bard to come back, he's in college now, it's not like he's doing homework or anything...
All kidding aside, I heard from Bons that you were the main gnome when it comes to kicking dodh butt, is that not the case?

Why don't you bug the bard to come back, he's in college now, it's not like he's doing homework or anything...Looking at his MySpace account I don't think bard is doing any homework
Heh, I get a good rep because I am the only necro that logs in :) that can solo all these (wish there were more actually) dodh missions :P TP's necro project is coming along though, and Watdis's necro is more active than Watdis though he isn't guilded with us. Soon Phile's bard will be 70 and then he will be the main puller and loot monger for the guild
Soon we will be completing these spell arcs... we have the strength to do it now, we just can't ever seem to get the right combo of classes together with enough play time to run through them.

Spell Arcs were fun. I miss the challenge.

Hey Nekro,
I see you on frequently when I am online (thats the problem with my guild recently, I am on an off schedule to most of our raids/guild events). I have been soloing 69.1 hard for exp and chests, but need to join up with someone to work on the spell arcs (as well as get the dumb runes for nearly all my 69 and 70 level spells). Let me know if you need extra NEC DPS.
