I found that prices for dodh researched spells have fallen through the roof the past couple months. You can find spells like night fire at 15-18k where as last year they went for 50-60k.Smudged Parchments are anywhere from 10-12k, so for a 50/50 chance of success you are only making a profit of 3-4k.My question is does anyone really make huge money doing this anymore?IMO the market is overflooded and everyone who could do reseach on my server jumped on the bandwagon and pretty much killed the market.

I still haven't broken 200 in SR, its still the hardest ts out there (to 200), and very expensive. Spells are definitely not moving all that fast anymore.

There still aren't that many researchers on Drinal. Many times I am the only one selling x GoD spell. Prices have slowly dropped but they have been low for many months. Maybe 10-15k, but costs are only 5kish (outside of time). I have about a 75% success rate, though I haven't done a skillup run since before the "beta" merchant fiasco that lead me to lose all interest in maxxing my research. My merchant doesn't stay up very long anymore, but I usually sell 2-4 spells a night enough to feed and clothes the kids they say

Did they ever fix the issue where toons that had 0 in research were all given 254 in research (talk about a motivation killer!)?

on FV they are hovering at 20-22K and thats because Im the only person actively making them. I often sell them for 17K if people send tells and haggle. I buy runics in /barter for 3K and I buy them in baz if they are 5K or less. I also buy 63/64 parchments for 1.5K and in baz 2K or less, 63/64 spells dont break 5K usually. the spell I make the most money on is still FPoK amazingly. I keep my prices based on other factors, on FV glyphed rune words sell 17-22K, thus buying my spell for 3-4K more is better t han buying glyph and having 20% chance of getting spell. For GoD mots of the stones sell 25Kish, so I sell spells 22-23K. You cant gouge people if you want them to sell. So I keep my prices as high as possbile while staying below the realm of the alrternate turnins. If Glyphs and Tael.. stone ... start going up in price, so will I. Same with 63/64 Spectrals sell like 6-8K so the most I can list spells is 8K.

That was nail number two. Actually.. the total deflation I felt after sleeping on that particular item was.. huge.

The one thing my little Guild had was a Serverwide top 20 Researcher. When I figured out that all I had to do was buy a little plat and start making spells with my fallow Mage on Bristlebane and with a few skill ups I could pass Selka's two months of vendor diving and millions spent.

Sigh. Certainly within the evening, I would be top 20. It's like learning the next expansion would give everyone flags for challenges only completed by a few guilds at the time. Why struggle?

Of course they haven't fixed it.. it's like the worst possible bug to the people working Research. It makes buying bags of Runics for 1p each seem like nothing.

What bug is this?? I had purchased most of my previos Necro's points.

Currently with my new necro (took a vacation) I am at 122 research points.

Where is this bug and how do I get it? :D

According to EQ Rankings (not terribly accurate but a good cross section) I am ranked 13th in research serverwide and I haven't done a skill up run for over 3 months. That goes to show how much in recent months motivation (serverwide) has been deflated to master research.

Where is this bug and how do I get it? Felicite could give you more specifics as I believe she was the person that originally brought it to GM attention. Something along the lines that if you had a toon > lvl 16 on somewhere between DoDh release and Januaryish that had a research of 0, they were given a research skill of 254. There might've been more conditions in there but that shot was a big blow to people trying to master research... then came the beta merchant incident which further deflated tradeskiller's motivations (why pay 5k per runic parchment when I can buy them off a merchant for 38pp a pop... /sigh -- most of this was cleaned up but it hurt my motivation more than ever).

...ah poor gnome, I was so proud of you too, I though you were going to be the first one on the server to max research at the rate you were going...

hehe I still might, still 7 points ahead of the next guy according to eqrankings, don't think he does any skill up runs just makes spells as he gets them. Easy to see since he sells like 5 spells at a time, after a skill up run my trader has a couple hundred.

Not in any rush though, with the tradeskill trophies (gotta do it soon) the success rate is pretty solid at the skill level I am at now.
