heres what I've compiled on spells, research and drop information for spells. details on pets and regen invformation. The regen information isn't tested, so if someone know or sees something different let me know.

Nerco Spell Research and spell information (http://home.ripway.com/2003-12/48207/necro%20info/Necrospellresearch.doc)

This is by no means complete, I've started looking at lvl 60 and over, lots of stuff there to compile. I only started looking at it today.

Greetings all,
I know it's a bit late in my levels but I just decided to start researching. Everywhere I go to look for info. on Necromancer Recipes, they give me lists, some containing info about a quill and parchment, others not. I have created some low lvl spells without a quill and/or parchment. Is there a lvl of spell research where I must incorporate these materials? Also, while searching around, I can plenty of info. on high lvl research spells, their materials, trivials, etc. My question is, what lower lvl spells can I use to start moving up my research skill. Is there a place that you know of with ~good~ info on all research spells and their trivials (not to mention the info on the quill and parchment)? Thanks! Im just tired of looking around and being led in circles.

I started at the Mythiran Tower (http://mythiran.allakhazam.com/), and kinda poked around. Found this worksheet (http://www.users.qwest.net/~taleisin/Misc/research_necro.zip) for basic research, and this one (http://www.users.qwest.net/~taleisin/Misc/research_necro.zip) for making practice runes.

Writing a research-only spell of level 49 and lower takes 1 to 3 words, in your Book of Dark Bindings (or the Gunthak equivalent).

Dropped spells of level 49 and higher may also be researched. These will take words (in some cases, several), a quill, and a parchment.

Also, you can practice research by making practice runes. These are a pain, but sometimes cheaper than making spells for research.

Last, but not least, you can bank your training points and buy skill from your guild trainers.

Based on my own experience, spells trivial out roughly as follows:
Spell Lev 16 = Skill Level 21
Spell Lev 20 = Skill Level 41
Spell Lev 24 = Skill Level 71
Spell Lev 29 = Skill Level 101
Spell Lev 34 = Skill Level 122
Spell Lev 39 = Skill Level 144
Spell Lev 44 = Skill Level 162
Spell Lev 49 = Skill Level ? (180s rumored)

Not every spell of a level has the same triv value, it seems.

Hey NeSikWay ..Nice job ! The one thing I noticed is no info on the drops of Words for lower levels. One place I found a LOT of Words of various types was in Oasis of Marr from the Crocodiles and Gators ..I had a lvl 16 Enchanter before and he had tons of words in bank...the Only place he hunted much was Oasis. Just a heads up for research ,hope it does someone some good.

Well, I thought about doing zones for lower lvl words, but I've not gotten enough info from others. (i.e. if there is a word others are having problems finding, when found I put it on the list) But since I didn't start the document until I was in my late 40's I didn't stop and put in all lower lvl words. But if anyone wants to post the information I'll be more than happy to add it to the document. When I farm for stuff I'll add it, but I've been taking an EQ kinda enforced break the last couple of weeks.

I take all suggestions for necro spell information to be added to the document, its here to help everyone so I'll add it if I have confirmed information.

I found a good many of the lvl 16-34+ words in HHK, I frequently checked the merchants and they had several words for sell.

Words of Pain are EASY to find. Go to Natimbi and buy them fromthe merchant at teh dock. People sell them there like candy. I bought them for 7 plat a peice from him. He sells one other Necro word, but careful he has Mage words too.

PON in the SouthEast corner with the werewolves there (whatever their names are) drops high level words like Control, Anguish, etc. Not too often or fast, but they are there and these buggers drop gems pretty fast. Made 1500 plat in a couple hours. These mobs are low 50's and hit HARD, take a group.

For the 24 lvl pet and focus words... I got them all in about 2hrs in loio... at the snarkfortress entrance. I was killing the two spawns there and the wanders. Took about 2hrs and had at least one of all the words... with 45 research I did not fail either of the combines.

Hiyas all.

How do i find where different words drop.

For all the lower spells most words drop in Lake of Ill the giant fort in warsliks, rathe mountains paludal caverns, HHk etc. For the higher end word drops you are looking at Veksar, Chardock, City of Mist etc. But as with all word drops they are random so kinda makes it hard to pin them to one mob in the zone.

If you are looking lets say for the level 24+ spell word drops then farm/hunt in Lake of ill rathe etc or go around vendors in PoK, alot of people do not wish to trade them i baz and i have found many words needed for researching 24 pet and the pet buff there, just takes a bit of time to check em all but it pays off.

The higher level words tend to be baz only seeing most know that these words are harder to come across seeing the zones tend to be a small group to 60+ solo areas and mobs take some killin i.e. Veksar.

I have heard the words drop in zones repective to the lvl of mob you are fighting, and that the words are a random drop across zones. But I have seen over time, that certain words drop better in certain zones than in others. I've also noticed that words will drop that you need now in the next higher lvl zone more readily. So for example if you are in OT, and getting ready to go to DL, you might want to run over there and see if you can pick words off a mob or two, most people don't always mess with the words. I was floored one day when I found the person looting in our LDON was destoring words!!!!!!!!!

even the rare ones

That's been my experience too. Sony is only *mostly* correct with what they are telling us. I guarantee that certain words and pages, especially the rare ones, drop more in some zones than others. I'm not a statistician, but sony seems to be fibbing a little bit about this.

They also tend to up the drop rates in revamped zones, probably as a carrot to get us to go there instead of PoP zones, or maybe they paid more attention when they re-coded the zones.

ive noticed the words mostly drop from mobs in the level range of what spell the words are used for

I just wrote out all the words for all the spells that I really wanted to eventually research and put them in alphabetical order then I just ported around with my druid to various locations with merchants and purchased the words I wanted from vendors.
Until my Necro has 200 + skill in research I get other high level necros to do my research for me.
