8 Year Veteran Reward

Quick announcement: the 8 year veteran reward has been decided! It's called Throne of Heroes and will port 8 year vets directly to the throne room in the guild lobby. ToH will be similar to Origin in regards to its casting and reuse timers. To accommodate this new ability, the guild lobby and its amenities will be made available to everyone, even those who are not yet flagged for Dragons of Norrath.

So, if you tried using it to avoid certain death (like how we use Death Peace now), you'd hit your bind point then "port to the lobby" (nevermind the fact that good percentage of the player base is bound in the lobby already). Be as funny as dru/wiz using exodus like that.

Altogether, minor use to melee classes, pretty useless to casters. Final Score: Worst Vet AA.

I would doubt the majority of the playerbase will see the 8th year vet aa for a while... at least it doesn't make me pissed that I had canceled my account for >1.5 years throughout my accounts lifespan so now I am still an arm's length away from the 5th vet aa.

I would actually like this aa. Combined with Origin and Gate, you have a lot of possibilities of where you want to bind and get around. I don't bind in the Lobby because if you are dead you still have to zone to either the GH or PoK to get to a bank, and the majority of times I am traveling through PoK, the portal in the GH would only be marginially faster for me to get to my desired location.

Been playing since 2000, but since I have to "suspend" my account for about 6-7 months each year for deployments, I just now got my 2nd Vet AA....

I think this would be a cool AA only for binding possibilites. Other than that, I would imagine that each Vet AA would get progressively more powerful.</span>

I bind in GL because loading pok takes forever, the zone to the GH for plat for summons if needed is fast, the magus is right there for porting, and the GH portal itself is one fast zone away.

Why you would bind elsewhere, unless temporarily, is beyond me.

I do not travel through PoK unless absolutely nescesary. It's just too slow loading, and annoyingly filled with spam.

I know it sounds lazy because it's like, RIGHT THERE, but I lag like a bitch in PoK, it takes forever to zone from the GH to the GL to PoK and into the bazaar, and all that spam makes me nutty. Since they ARE so close, couldn't we like, just *pretend* someone happened to discover a previously unknown underground tunnel or something that leads from one building to the other?? Just slip a new door in there somewhere and no one will be the wiser ;)

No I am not retiring, though I have in the past tried to escape EQ. Sometimes I feel a really bad night could have me retire Gnek for a while, but then the next day I am just as excited to log in :)

People are to lazy to even run 1 extra zone now a days lol.Hehe I don't mind running Gnek anywhere... it is when I have to run my cleric there again after Gnek is what bothers me because Autofollow is horrible for me :)

I used to drag my friends all over. But when it's time for bed.. waiting for the freaking PoK to load.. just so I can set up my /traders is annoying.

Nothing like extra time sinks from bad design.

I mean the Bazaar is the ipso facto hub of the game.. make the Guild Lobby an area off the Bazaar FFS.

I don't go to the bazaar that much I guess, so its not a big deal for me to run an extra zone or so hehe. I just use my trader if I ever need anything bought, or sold...and so the onyl time I ever run my main there is to kill time when I'm to lazy to switch toons lol.

I remember way back when, for a player that didn't play a large amount of time, you kind of had to plan where you were going to be xping for the next couple of days/weeks since you could easily spend an hour here and there traveling just to get to a camp.

Heh..Nexus used to be a popular bindspot. PoK/GL keep remaining such a central structure in the game..it's kinda wierd. Abysmal Sea had promise, then everyone realized all they'd really ever do is raid in GoD and people stopped binding there. That or quest for access to raid..
