I trained SCS and I trained the upgrade. Recently i was told that now i'm nothing more than a "raid necro" unable to keep agro for a kiting group. Well first of all i was hurt then i got to thinking. Screw that, I can solo fine, no complaints about my kiting ever (pulling occasionally lol) and i've never lost agro to anyone who couldn't handle it.
Have i really gimped myself forever in some way?
The way I've always heard SCS works is it lowers the amount of hate you get when a spell lands(or gets resisted), not the amount of hate generated over time by DoTs. If you're kiting for a group, most likely you will be pulling the mob with snare which gives you the first hit hate bonus not to mention the large amount of hate snare gives. So if you stack a few DoTs after that, I can't imagine you'll lose aggro often even with SCS maxed.
In my opinion SCS doesn't gimp you since we have tons of ways to pull aggro when we need to, but on the other hand I don't think these AAs are that important since we can lose aggro just as easily.

Whoever said this is mentally impaired.

SCS has long been outdated in general, and has never worked right with dots anyway. Wish SCS I generate 960 hate when a snare lands, instead of the customary 1200, omgz! The damage from today's dots more than make up for any hate lost when the spell initially lands on a mob, anyone who implies that SCS nerfs our aggro gaining/keeping abilities clearly needs to pull their heads out of their asses.

Aye I believe the SCS line of aa only affects initial agro. (That is why it is so good for slowers/healers etc.)
It will personally be one of the last AA I get though, just because I can drop agro in an instant, so don't really see a great use coming from it.

Soembody gives you shit while you are PLing them, boot em or leave the group and go solo on your own.
What is a kite group?
1) Bunch of kiters on their own mobs
2) You're pl'ing other people
I assume it's 2, cause keeping agro for #1 is no problem.
My philosophy on allowing non-kiting classes to group in case #2, since I'm basically pling them, is more or less the following:
"Run bitches!"
When I kite I try to keep it mana efficient, and I never cast anything specifically for agro generation.
When I happen to group with non-kiters or when pling others I still don't go out of my way to agro more than snaring and mana efficient dot damage causes naturally. If they steal agro, they get to run, or they get to die. If they have a problem with this, they are more than welcome to leave the group or learn the agro balance in the event that they steal it early :)
You could:
1) snare slot
2) low lvl fear alot
3) debuff alot
But honestly it's just mana you didn't need to spend, unless you get your potime clicky snare. And in that case, it's more time and effort that you didnt need to do.

Gnek and I used it to split the first three mobs in 70.5 DoD mission the other day. When the warrior was ready they were able to pick them off easily though without us having to FD, so I'm guessing it won't work to build up strong hate, but it definitely gave some kind of aggro.

Speaking of tasting, I must thank you guys for linking me the Gnome Kabobs.
It actually drove the gnome mage in the group to ask the chanter to project an illusion.
So I had a new kitty to play with for a while.
