I know fear can be a bit tricky to break in with a group and many guilds wipe from doing just that but has anyone ever done exp hunting in Plane of Fear?
I am thinking the best way to do this would be to camp in the zone when it's clear and come back when mobs start repopping. If that is the case what is the repop time of fear is it 3 days or a few hours?

i would forget fear all together as a hunting ground. if you die and the zone is full. you might have significant problems just at corpse recovery. I have heard of people loosing their gear because of it. While this would be very unusual, i've heard of it.

There was a guide on another Necro site for soloing fear at 61+. AFAIR they suggested you basically zone in invisible, run to a safe spot in the zone, FD and then /q to lose aggro if any see-invis mobs were chasing you. Then they used the level 4 Fear spell to kite mobs (at least wanderers that were fearable) so that they didn't get too far from you and aggro others.

Of all the places to hunt, Fear has gnawed itself a special place in my heart. There's nothing like having a critter get away... and 4 mins later hearing your name called across the zone.

I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate fear.

Conversely, I love Hate.

I think the biggest issue with fear is the spiders that port you across the zone somewhere. Unless those are KEPT feared then you going to be ported somewhere only to get a ton of agro afterward. I have not been to fear though since they last revamped it. Didnt they change the zone in and did it improve the adds on zone ?

"since they last revamped it."

Er, wasn't that 3 or 4 years ago? I don't remember any recent revamping beyond moving some of CT's drops to his minions and making the Shissar thingy beta-neutral

No, I am talking since then. I was not sure in what way they were revamping it, but was suppose to do something with the zone in area. I only partially paid attention to it since I hate fear and really don't plan on going back unless I have too. I can't imagine even wanting to solo there since there are so much better areas for exp vs. risk.

Are you talking about the "stealth agro-range increasing" revamp? Thing is...soloing in fear used to be a piece of cake. I won't go there now unless a friend is dead, or will be if I don't help them get something there (I have some very stubborn friends hehe). Fear is a complete pain in the ass now IMO, it used to be invis, zone in...get agro or not, run to west wall...and fd if anything follows you. Make a pet, and start kiting. Possibly /q'ing between fd'ing and making a pet. Now it's start kiting, get those damn imp and zombie adds from the hill the zone in is on while your kiting along the wall, fd'ing and getting summoned as you stand up, I'm not sure where I read this, but in Pofear when you fd your agro doesn't go away, it's just transfered to the next closest mob....or that's the way it used to be, and it does suck kiting a gorrilla and being summoned by dread upon standing after fd...... If you *have* to exp in old world planes I suggest mischief, then hate...Air, fear and growth just aren't worth the agrivation imo.

Greetings,

What is the respawn time for the trash mobs in Plane of Fear?

Also what is the respawn time for the named in Fear?

Thanks

i'm pretty sure the trash is 8 hours (may be 6, but not shorter) ... named are 3 days, more or less (some, like chanty epic mob, seem to be a bit rarer)

soloing if fear isn't too tough btw, though i wuldn't do it unless you need something off the trash... it's not terribly efficient

Fun though: and you do at least get a bit of AA XP if you turn in all the armor drops.

HOLY RESURRECTED THREAD, BATMAN!

Fun though: and you do at least get a bit of AA XP if you turn in all the armor dropsI enjoyed Fear since I went there at 65 for the first time in a long time, broke it alone but it was a massive pain... enjoyable for the experience, but not so enjoyable for the xp if you know what I mean :)

Wasn't too dangerous as the trash doesn't hit hard, the problem is getting adds and then the shadowstep proc that some of the trash carries. Pet tanking for the most part solves that problem just not terribly efficient.

Fun... especially when it starts to rain blood. Don't expect to get much help if you do get into trouble there... Us Necs have an easier time than most (at least non-fd classes) of getting in there...

i've been doing fear on and off for my bard's 1.0 epic drop (which is insanely rare) ... he's L55, so no FM (or i'd probably solo him there instead of duo with necro)

i just group him with bard, selo's up and run to the far side of the zone (opposite temple) and FD... necro usually makes it... bard does too (via rez sometimes, but if he can outrun mobs on him he loses aggro)

after that, it's FD pulling... the only issue from time to time is getting an enraged imp pop off a scareling, but they are no aggro if you don't attack and their assist range is pretty small

Yeah. Guild chat was amusing when I told them I'd camped out in Fear after the raid the previous night, and was soloing it... I was the first necro in the guild to give it a try, and the others had bad memories of raid wipes with three-hour corpse runs and multiple XP deaths :).

Not so bad anymore since the guild lobby. At one point there was someone running open raids on fear. I told the younglings in our guild not to go, that we'd get their drops for them on our own time...

Then they wiped and the raid disbanded and they wanted me to go get their corpses... All 6 of them!

Yeah, right!

Fear has sure been trivialized by the new gear and the new levels. Now its np for a necro to break in solo. Kinda a neat trip for those of us who were scared away by the horror stories for so long :P

This is so true.. I feel like I am cheating.

I remember the first break in I was chosen to be part of. 2 groups of 6. 30 others waiting for the ok to follow. Standing on the ramp and just praying I didn't screw up.

The Gift first broke Fear for Cachet's epic, pre-DoN with me^3 at 65 and a 58 Druid and a 56 Warrior. It was a rush.. and to be honest, Shadowrest was in already so while I knew it could be bad.. not *that* bad.

Now.. it's just a fun place to visit.. althought I did get DTed thrice last time. Woo hoo!

Yeah waiting a week to get your gear still sucked though, lol

It's actually probably safer solo: the only times I've died in Fear were when the raid aggroed the KoS Imp for the Berserker epic... its AoE breaks FD.

Of course I was never soloing the zone when the death-touching golems were up so didn't have to worry about random aggro-transfer to them.

on one raid i lead we killed the ireblind 3 times in a row... he kept popping off his adds after he died

since then i've learned that the enraged can be memblurred and is no aggro unless other aggro mobs nearby
