Would it be possible for a experienced necro to post a guide of "Fear Kiting"

I must admit ... my fear kiting skills are laughable <_< so I'm looking for a guide heh if anyone doesn't mind

I don't have a "guide" but heres some tips:
Fear Kiting:

First pull the mob with darkness line (snare.) You should have enough time to cast fear before it even gets to you. If you don't have room run back a bit and cast fear or send pet in to take control of the mob while you cast fear. Send pet in after fear takes effect and cast another dot. Re-cast fear and darkness as necessary. An important factor of fear kiting is where the mob goes. Its possible for other mobs to add if you get close enough. Feared mobs will always go the same direction so figure that out and fear them away from other mobs. Or aggro kite (see below)

Advantages: less mana consumption, you can med a bit while its feared
Disadvantages: you have no control over where the mob goes, fear might wear off and the mob could kill your pet before you have time to recast fear.

Aggro Kiting:

First turn taunt off on pet (/pet taunt). Pull mob with darkness. Cast aggro generating spells (low level poison bolt is suggested). Also you can cast like 3 or 4 dots which will piss the mob off bad enough to chase you (while your pet beats on it) The point is to have the mob angry enough to chase you and ignore your pet. Darkness must be kept on mob at all times.

Advantages: You have complete control over where the mob goes. Monster shouldn't be hitting you or your pet if you do it right.
Disadvantages: Could waste more mana casting dots or aggro generating spells, mob could turn on pet if you dont generate enough aggro.

I have been using fear kite lately because its become harder and harder to keep aggro off my pet (have the 44 pet currently and he generates a LOT of aggro for some reason, even with taunt off). However I see many high level necros aggro kite so im probably doing something wrong. I haven't tried this new tactic of chain casting posion bolt (low level dot) to keep aggro. But ill give it a shot.

Good luck and remember, you always have feign death P

Fear kiting is pretty well explained above.

Aggro kiting: One of the keys that you didn't really mention is your position in relation to the mob. If you get too much distance between yourself and the mob that should be chasing you, he will turn and start beating on Kebartik; which is bad. So stay close to the mob, but obviously not close enough to get hit...it also is a good idea to get a little distance between the mob and you and then sit down to med for a tick or so. Sitting will give you a tick of med time and will also help to keep the mob pissed off at you, which is what you want.

For aggro, it is best to cast our disease based debuff (Heart Flutter line) spells. I've never tried chaining low lvl poison nukes to maintain aggro. That may work, I just always felt it was better to be doing REAL damage to the mob instead relying on the pet to do all the work, which makes the fight longer and xp slower; but if you are spending a lot of mana and having to med between fights, then perhaps this would be a good alternative as long as you can maintain aggro.

Fear kiting: I miss fear kiting and really enjoyed it in my younger days. Unfortunately, our best fear is only good for mobs that are 55 or below, (I think is the cap) so until/unless we get an upgrade to fear, that tactic will go away when you start hunting in the higher tier planes. That's why you only see higher lvl necros aggro kiting (for the most part).

Anyway, hope this infomation is helpful to someone.

Recommendation:

If you are aggro kiting, don't send pet in at all. Only let him auto aggro your mob if you're hit...and in that case...LET him have hate until you're safely moved away and then back /PET BACK OFF until he's free again.

Need to learn how to aggro kite? Get in a indoors dungeon and hunt for a day or two, you'll have it mastered in that time.
