Would it be possible for a experienced necro to post a guide of "Fear Kiting"

I must admit ... my fear kiting skills are laughable <_< so I'm looking for a guide heh if anyone doesn't mind

Practice......that is the best guide/advice I can give. Either you get the hang of it or not.

Simple variation (there are many variations of fear-kiting):

Park pet (Guard).....run and find a mob, cast a dark spell on mob and start to run back to pet with a hopefully slowed mob behind you, cast a DoT, send pet to attack, cast fear, re-cast dark when it is close to wearing off, re-cast fear.

This is a slow way to practice but pretty safe. Once you get the timing down and know the damage out-put of your spells and pet better, you can fine tune it.

Once you are comfortable with fear-kiting.....make sure you add at least one point of melee damage to the feared mob......you'll level faster.

P.S. Lich...learn to live with it, best mana regen in the game.

Another Variation

One of the problems I was having was getting cd to stick to flies in pod. (btw they can all be single pulled with proper positioning)
1.cast slurt run back to your camp (spin) cast root I use instill.
2. Stack hate dots eb usally will break root send pet.
3. Move mob to an area that when you fear (or more important when fear wears off) will stay clear of other mobs sit and med till he comes back dead and loot.
This has worked for me when I move to mobs that are little high for my level. As you gain levels then standard snare send pet fear dot is the best for mana and faster.

We need the 1 point melee damage to make sure that ALL experience-points will go to us, instead of just a part of them...

If we don't do any damage ourselves, our pet will steal some of the XP...

Get a Staff of the Dreaded Gaze... right click Invoke Fear.

The staff is a rare drop off of Xalgoz down in Kaesora, which is easily soloable by a necro of like 50th level or so. Or you can buy one, not sure on their PC though.

Pull with Darkness, send pet, right click fear, and DoT as Mana Allows. Make sure on High DP mobs you Re-darkness before fear wears off or you will have a pissed off unfeared, unsnared mob charging toward you.

Places I have Fear Kited
1.) Flies in PoD, make sure you pull them allllll the way back to the far shore of that litte lake thing, before you fear... fear path will take them into the water, so try to DoT before you fear.
2.) Gorangas in ME... pull them to the right side of the DSP zone then fear, they will walk down the wall and not out into the middle of the zone. Relatively safe but they have tons of HP.
3.) Rathe, pull with Darkness, right click fear, send pet, sit and have a cup of tea while the giant gets whooped. Good for making cash, be warey of KSers and crap like that though.

That's all I can think of right off... I'm 55th level and this is how I got there, so it does work for me :D

Just to clarify...

they mean 1 point of damage period, you dont actualy have to bust out your newby dagger and land a hit. It can be from a spell.

Gneville Lieng's Method
---------------------------
(Extended Range items RULE in open areas BTW)

this is combo of aggro / fear kiting that is very nice if you can get your groove on.

#01 pick your spot.
-- learn the pathing of the mobs
-- learn what aggro-assists and what does not.
-- make sure it's near a land mark you can see from a distance

#02 /PET GUARD HERE
#03 find a mob and get 'just' inside your casting range.
#04 Root it.
-- if it resists, decide very quickly if you want to try again, or FD

(assuming no resists)
#05 Snare DoT it
#06 Give it one good DoT
#07 Give it one good Nuke to break the root.
#08 run back to your pet keeping it in it's "follow you" range.
#09 using nerves of steel, wait to cast your fear spell so that it will land on the mob only seconds before it would have hit you.
#10 /PET ATTACK

I was solo'ing in OverThere like this when I was LVL-29 until LVL-44 this way. If you find this too easy, start repeating the process immediately after you send pet.

I could sometimes do three at a time in OverThere this way at LVL-35+
