Well, I started a character on Sullon Zek to kill something that doesn't have pathing issues(people!). I was in field of bone exping and minding my own business, being a good little leezard. I was kinda chatting with umbrello and aryse and then I get "the group invite." I don't know many people on the server yet so I thought it'd be a good idea to maybe meet a few other people and get to know other evils I might see later lfg'ing for ldon and such. I had a level 8 cleric, 7 rogue and a warrior with me(who left to play on firona vie after not to long). With the warrior pulling it went well, we got some nice exp and didn't have to really be to selective pulling from the pit (mobs range from roughly level 4 to 14 there) as long as it was under level 10 it wasn't a problem. After the warrior left, I assumed the rogue would tank...

The rogue went and pulled a scaled wolf hunter, and got a scaled wolf and scalebone skeleton... I was like neat "one red con for each of us, sigh" I told the cleric not heal the rogue, so we don't agro the wolves, and to help me with the skeleton I pulled off the rogue, back a little bit. We killed the skeleton, the rog died (no shock there) and the scaled wolfs passed harmlessly by. The next pull the rogue makes was 1 mob... The cleric doesn't heal him at all, and he dies again. Next pull same thing.

That's when I asked if he's played before.... He replies "no, but I've watched my brother before and learned alot" (Could of friggen fooled me!!!) I then explained the concept of single target agro management and how that means that most of the time, it helps the cleric (him) only have to heal one group member, conserving his mana and allowing to his groups to kill more mobs over time, and that the rogue who was dying every single pull should be healed, to make this possible.
I guess I figured people on a PvP server of a 5 year old game would play at a high level and kinda "already know" what they're doing a whole lot....anyway, I'm glad I'm a soloing class(yet again), anyone else encounter stuff like this? Clerics that don't heal.../boggle

(Apologies to The Drifters)

They say the best PCs are sold on eBay (on eBay)
They say there’s always Vex Thal folk on there (on eBay)
But when your monk just pulled a train
And runs it back and does not feign
The glitter rubs right off and you’re nowhere (on eBay)

They say your rep’s for sale as well on eBay (on eBay)
But I hear lots of sold toons sing the blues (on eBay)
‘Cause how ya gonna show you’re phat
When you forgot to buy some plat?
And all your bank’s got is some nodrop shoes (from eBay)

Ha! The players just don’t last too long once eBayed (once eBayed)
They make fools of themselves, you can see
“I won’t be tashing,” the chanter says
And it seems he’s afraid to mez
Now all these mobs are aggroed right on me

Can’t take another pickup group
I’m gonna bail and fly the coop
I wonder what a shaman gets on eBay? (on eBay)
On eBay (on eBay)

Yeah yeah, I know: These were newbies. But still... I had to get it out of my system.

At least these guys were low level, and honestly were trying. I still run into this kind of horrifying lack of knowledge in level 65 characters, only by level 65 it's calcified and now accompanied with a lovely belligerence as well.

I truly love newbies. If I see some poor slob repeatedly dying to the bear cubs and gnoll pups in Everfrost, I'll happily log on my shaman and give them a slight advantage (usually regen, Bih Li, haste, and an AC buff) for the first couple levels. I don't like contributing the the "OMG GOTTA HAVE TEMPERANCE/VIRTUE/KEI/ETC*" mentality.

Jeb, I think you quite likely started that fellow off perfectly. /salute

* In caps for a reason: many flagrant violators of the Fizzleplink Self-Sufficiency Rule talk like this. Yes, really.

Hahaha Love it Fizz. I just really dont understand how we ever made it through the darkages when there was no kei, virtue, temp and all the glitter people get nowadays. God forbid if a cleric should have to sit and med. And good lord if a tank has less than 5k hps hes no better than a low level skelly pet.

Whatever ever happened to the challenge?

I don't like contributing the the "OMG GOTTA HAVE TEMPERANCE/VIRTUE/KEI/ETC*"

I asked a nice cleric for a rez once and she was "kind" enough to hit me with temp too

Now im addicted and im only 25 /sigh
I still play most of the time without it since im poor too but im always think "If i only had temp icould take that red over there"
