Scapl/Cap adds to research?

I have research 195, and a geerlock, but what is this cap or scaple everyone refers to? someone give me a link or a full name so I can look it up?

Some say yes, some say no...some say I don't know.

I got my Scalp for 400pp, bought it just because I could....got my Quill (free) in a trade....dropped components to a Tink who makes them.

I wear both and really don't care if they stack or not.....I'd rather play it safe and unless the new tradeskill UI gives a definitive answer one way or the other....do we really know?

I have heard from many that they do not stack, so I have put my scalp up for sale and now just use the quill. I will tell you one thing I believe makes a difference....since my research has hit 197 and using the quill, I have never ( at least not yet ) failed in research as long as I get KEI first. Perhaps it's coincidence, maybe I have just been lucky, but I think the additional Int makes a differnce. I have failed research under the exact same situation without KEI. Call me superstious if you like ;) but I will not combine without KEI.

btw - the same applies to trade skills. Get KEI before trade's combines and see if it does not make a difference.

OK, found out last night...they don't stack. If you open your research book, you see your research level listed. Drop either the quill or scalp into your hat or primary spot and you see the skill-up. Drop the second in place...no skill-up.

I have been away from EQ since Christmas, working on location with no time or even a decent connection to play so I am/was unable to check myself with the new UI.....haven't D/L'd GoD yet either.

Since I got the scalp cheap...will give to Guild or Alt.
