Hi all,

Just found the site, and find it very usefull. Figured i should register and start to participate too :P..

Reason my post is in here is that I have a huge frustration with research words..

I have been playing EQ for 4.5 years now. I have a 60 Druid, a 47 Cleric, a 30 Warrior, and now I have a Necro... Currently lvl25.

Now before i get flamed for being another of those that 'jump on the Necro bandwagon' types I admit that i FULLY am one... I mean HOW MUCH DO NECRO'S ROCK ???

Anyway i digress...

Both myself and my good friend started a necro together. Our plan is to rip up Norrath from the ground up as a duo. So far we are doing phenominally well and having a great time doing it. We are not PL'n or cheating in any way (well other than using our respective druids to port us around/sow etc)


I have my 24th lvl pet spell. My friend does not. I have it because one of my other chars had the words i required... We are missing Words of Allure.

Words of Allure are simply impossible to get hold of! We have been trying for just over a week to find them. Thats 2 of us!

We have tried every merchant we can think of... no words.

We have tried the Bazaar, but only once did we see them and they were 5k!!! No thanx, for a spell that might go poof anyhow!!

We have tried ALL and yes i mean ALL the named drops that supposedly have them (we started off with the necro's doing skellies in LoIO, but found we needed to kill quicker so went to our mains and ripped the place apart.. No words... We have been doing this for the whole week, and nothing is dropping those damn words...

Some of you may say ignore it and move on till you get the 29th spell. But put simply we dont want to. We think the 24th spell will greatly enhance our enjoyment and capabilities (i mean all that extra HP counts for a LOT)

So please, someone, anyone.... for the love of god /sob......

DO these things still drop??? We are both beggining to wonder...

Yes, they still drop. You might try killing the sarnaks instead of the skellies though. I think i got mine from sarnaks

I've found Words of Allure twice in the past month or so on the miner merchants in HHK basement so I'm guessing they drop there.. HHK would even be good XP for you guys at that level.

Casek, welcome to Necrotalk :) It's been awhile so I don't remember where I got mine, but I don't recall ever having a problem finding any of the pets. I don't know if it is true, but I have read that this spell is actually purchasable in the Ogguk Shadowknight's guild. When checking for spells, check out eq.castersrealm.com and click on the spell. There are usually pages of input from other users telling where they found words or purchased the spell. Hope this helps.

IM only 25 as well and i got lucky and bought the spell in bazaar
I did the research thing on my wizard upto 200 skill so im a bit burnt on it but i may still pick it up for my necro if i get bored

I have gotten allure from clearing Runnyeye. Not many players go there but it could be easy done.

Occassionally you can find the words of allure also on the dwarf merchant in LoIo. The words also drop as mentioned in Runneye

We still have had no luck.

We decided to say to hell with Chardok faction and ripped apart the fort in Ill Omen. (2 necro's at lvl 24/25 can OWN that place LOL, well we did anyways) We got loads of drops of words... No Allure.

We did Runnyeye with the druids, Only chars in there, cleared the place... No Allure.

Tried the Merchants in Ill Omen, and Ogguk... No Allure.

Tried Bazaar... No Allure.

Necro's are now 27 and 28... I find it frustrating as hell, its not like were not trying :(

I'm 36 now, and I don't recall having too much trouble getting that pet. I checked the bazaar regularly and I sure as hell would not have paid that much for a word (since i have never had that much anyway.) I am having trouble now with the pet buff spell intensify death...can't find that one....

I was given My 4 words of Allure. Heard Runnyeye was the place to get them more than once. That would also be reasonably close to the HH mercahnts woudl it not? I never personally fought in Runnyeye (though thinking about doing it for giggles with my 53 Necro to see what drops.).

I would definately encourage you to stick with practicing research. If not for researching, I wouldn't have Funeral Pyre yet or several of my other spells. Selling easily researched spells has easily financed some of the higher, more expensive spells which I have a hard time getting to, being in a small family type guild. However, I do have to admit that I kind of cheated. I had never spent a single training point after I hit 20, so I simply sold them all back to the trainer to bring my research up to 200....and I don't regret it one bit :D
