There will always be someone that considers something offensive. People find Harry Potter offensive, some people are offended by the Wizard of Oz, other's are offended by prayer, the pledge of allegiance, the united states of america, orange juice, pink panties, mr. hanky and the tooth fairy. Yes certain things are offensive to larger amounts of people, I do consider that, it's not going to stop me from doing or enjoying any of those things. Maybe not so much infront of people I care about, but still none-the-less. It was a paraody and was meant to be funny. I don't think the creators of that clip had any malintent to real rape victims and I took it as people making fun of "metrosexuals" with thier collars popped up and thier game cubes and thier natty lite.

I dislike certain words and terms. I know you know the word "retard" in casual use bothers me. I've used it before when I get heated and I hate myself for it later. When you've worked with or cared for somebody who actually is mentally retarded, calling someone that as an insult, to me is an insult to people who are affected by mental retardation. They don't deserve to be put down, they just try to live there lives as close to "normal" as they can and be happy at the same time. Why do people find that funny?

It's not funny, to me. However, I will tell people I am close to how I feel about that and they typically don't use that word around me anymore. That doesn' mean I'm going to flip out and cause a scene everytime some jackass uses the word though.

Maybe it's a gender difference. I wouldn't say I was necessarily offended, but I didn't find it funny either. Maybe women tend to be a bit more sensitive to rape "humor" since pretty much any woman knows someone who has been in such a situation. Being a woman and having had to contend with the topic more times than I'd ever want to, I guess I just fail to find humor in it when presented. But that's just me.

I am generally known to have a pretty twisted sense of humor so I don't think it's a case of needing to lighten up, either. =p
