Starting Research

Ok i got to 16 and learned Research but I dont know how to raise it i spent like 100pp on stuff for it and it wont go up. What are some training research that can raise my research.

When you spend the initial point in Research it brings the skill to 16. I believe you have to hit level 20 before you can get anymore skill ups.

I am just going to tell you what I did for maxing research. Basically I put all of my training points into it every level. I also kept every word I found in my bank. Every so often I would go and see what words I had and what spell combines I could attempt to make. I would also check the ldon camps and merchants in pok to see what they had for sale. If I found two that were needed for a combine I would buy a stack of each or however many I could afford. Now that would be so much easier with the new UI for trade skills. It is not a way to get really high really fast, but by the time I had to research the spells for the 50 levels that are expensive I was able to do it without ever failing. I am not counting the one time I was making an extra to sell. If you are worried about succeding, then I suggest getting a geerlok for sure.

One last thing I forgot to mention before. Make sure that you get as much int as possible. Sometimes I would upgrade some gear and lose a little, but if you keep it in the bank to throw on for tradeskills it is not such a bad idea. Also this is the time to use the enchanter mind buffs to raise int. I would always go get kei before working on any tradeskill once I was high enough. It still felt dirty and wrong though.

I totally agree with Tiwaz... I put all of my points into reserach every level, I also combined words that I kept in the bank and worked it up that way.... it is not a waste since you can sell the duplicates :)

I posted this in another thread and Schaeffer mentioned it in his reply....you cannot get skill-ups in research until level 20...any effort to do so will just result in wasted effort and lost time.

I used to have the level limits written down when I first started but they are easy enough to figure out if you read up at EQCastersrealm and MyrithianTower about research.

If I were you, I'd make a list of items to bank for making research runes, spell components and just level to 30 or so, then get back into it...spend some points, make runes and attempt combines.
