I am starting to run out of Must have AAs, still a few to go, though. And am looking towards the future and what AAs I want to work on. I am currently at about 5k unbuffed HP, but working on it. I do run low on mana at times, and I was looking at Blood Magic and thinking it might help me when I get LoM. However, I see that it can be really really hard on the HP.

What amount of unbuffed HP would you all recommend getting before I start to use BM?

(my magelo is a little behind on AAs, but only about 10 pts at most)

Thanks for your info!

I almost never ever use it and I have 11K hp. It's a joke. Are you sure you dont need Innate Lung Capacity 3 instead?

After the first 5 spell casts, it just gets brutal.

Here's a few AA's I think you should get first, in no particular order:

Channeling Focus
Spell Casting Expertise
Combat Stability
Natural Durability
Mass Group Buff
Flesh to Bone (ok you don't really need this, but I like it)
Planar Power
Innate Enlightenment
Innate Defense
Mastery of the Past
Convalescence
Persistent Casting (Maybe wait till SOE 'fixes' channeling)
Fury of Magic Mastery
Advanced Theft of Life
Defensive Instincts
Discordant Defiance
Mystical Attuning
Healthy Aura
Expansive Mind
Soul Thief
Chaotic Potential
Destructive Fury

i agree with Xis's list, but i don't think the AA is trash, either =( i wouldn't get it until you had ALL of the ones on that list and then some, but i use it to reverse twitch, or if i get to the bottom of the barrell and the mob's got like 10% left and so on. with a good healer (or some well-timed potions) it can come in pretty handy.

Blood Magic is underrated. Haters ;=)

Seriously though, after first getting it, thought it was fairly worthless. Over time as Ive tended to use it more and become more confident in how to use it, absolutly love this aa. It's by no means a priority purchase, but when you face off on mana draining mobs, ones that mana drain and overwrite lich even, its very helpful.

Hell in DK the other night, half the undead groups were, well dead. Burned bloodmagic and went to town, 9k ae's be damned. We ended up winning with less than 5 seconds to spare, only me and the now oom cleric were alive in my group.
Good times!

So to sum up, very situational, but good in those situations. If you get on south in jelven, fight the chick in ToB, run omm on ARo etc etc good thing to have at your disposal.

When you want the raid to have lev, yeah, have to admit I prefer mgb to dmfing groups.

I've had great experiences with Blood Magic. I'm glad I have it and use it now and again with nice results.

Blood magic is incredible if you aren't a converted necro from some other class that jumped on the class = dps bandwagon when PoP came out...

take hive hard instance (ciceros notebook)... lesson of devoted running, chain pulling, kiting 3 mobs at a time stacking dread pyre, pyre of mori, and funeral pyre on each mob... dont wanna waste that lesson... but mana gets low when you chain pull (ie, clearing all wanderers, entire first tower, both campfires in 30 mins, with just 2 people).

trick is to be on just 1 mob kiting when you burn it. pull said mob with snare, hit blood magic, land dread pyre, then fang of death (keep those hp coming back) and since its all about getting mana back, cast mind flay. throw a pyre of mori on mob, send in pet, and kite a bit... when the icon starts flashing, refresh dread pyre, lifetap until the icon goes solid again. you now have at least 1 more minute of blood magic, meaning you'll be able to mind flay again also...

now your hp may be getting low, target yourself and cast a soul stone, then hit your heal over time X potion... refresh fang of death. by now mob should be dead and you can pull another solo mob with snare, dread pyre... and now your icons should be doubled up... start lifetap nuking till you get gift of magic, or your hp slowly drop to a point to not allow it... dont forget to mind flay or dread pyre when you have GoM up...

point being, i can get blood magic to last for almost 3 minutes, if you dont try to burn the mob down... pace yourself, use fang of death, mindflay, heal potions, soul stones, and take advantage of GoM... use this on solo pulls only for best results. ive gone from 50% mana on pull, to 100% mana and only being at 50% hp with my second mob well in tow...

11k mana pool, 10k'ish hp... word of warning... if i am unbuffed, and have double blood magic on me... at 70% hp, dread pyre can kill you. if youre afraid to die to find out what works best, dont play a necro...

I so want to get this aa but my gear is crap. This is exactly the thing I want out of being a necro though some risk and ingenuity to try and get an objective done solo.
Thanks for the write up on this Xelera!

Xelera I think you mean Soul Orb or Shadow Orb.
Soul Stone is a WoW thingy.

Does Mastery of the Past work the same for necros and other classes as it does for bards? Otherwise I can't putting on a list of important AA.

I don't have Blood Magic but my raiding necro friend says it's one of the best AAs around. On a long fight it lets you regen a bunch of mana while keeping DPS up. I don't see how it could possibly be lower priority for a raiding necro than many of the AAs on Xis' list.

Also, soulstones are the GL corpse summoning reagents, not just a WoW thingy.

Yah, but he/she said:

"now your hp may be getting low, target yourself and cast a soul stone"

Yes, but it would be understandable if he confused soulstone and soul orb without ever playing WoW.
