Proper use of pet hold

Ok, I'm gimp. pet hold don't work for **** for me. I was pulling Monday in POV, pet is seated quiet a bit away form me. Every time I try to get lumbering beast, I get adds. No tank or real healer in group, so I was trying to split mobs.

Mob hits me as a Death peace, my pet engages mob. wtf!!! I even smashed pet hold ( cause I was tried of loosing pet) but is did nada.

Am I doing it wrong??

IF your pet hit the mob before you hit Pet Hold, then the mob would have aggro on your pet and would continue to pound him into dust.

Did this happen repeatedly, or was it a one time thing? Note that you need to
/pet hold
after you park him, and after every time he's been fighting. The other command, I think it is
/pet back off
, will clear his aggro list. I had a hotkey that did them both (I forget which was first).

Also, I will note that I found it to be buggy, and occasionally the pet would misbehave as you describe, even when everything was done properly.

On your hot key, the /pet hold has to be first. else the pet could regain the mob on it's hate list.

Mine is actually

/pet hold
/pause 3
/pet back off
/vtell loketh 011

I found that when I had no pause in there, it sometimes didn't do the second command.

The /vtell I use so I know every time I hit that key (also have one on my attack) means I don't have to look to see what pet is doing, I know by the sound. Especially if I accidentally hit the key.

ah, good idea. I was hitting pet hold, then pet back off. But by then, he'd have engaged the mob. Waste of bone chips, lol.

I used to have a pet hold / pet back off hot key, but it seemed to foul my pet up when pet pulling, so I removed the pet back off, and just make sure I hit /pet hold after each fight where there might be something still on his agro list.
