Here is how and were to hunt from 1 to 52 in 7 play days and get good pp while you are at it. My experience is DE necro, so that is where I am coming from on this.

1) Neriak rats.. yes I said rats.. There is a spawn point right to the left of the exterminator in Neriak commons (2nd gate). It spawns right after the last one was killed. Absolutely no downtime. This will take you from 1-4 in just a few minutes.

2) Go outside and hunt a bit in newbie area. This can take you up to 7 or so. There is a skele monument just to the left of the EC IZ in Nektulos that is good exp if you are able to handle them. Pretty fast respawn time.

3) EC is also a viable option at the Orc camps when you get high enough.

4) Now you hit 12.. head to Paludal caverns and hang on to your hat. Try to get into recondite bandit group. It will take you from 12 to 21 before you have to go elsewhere.

5) Now you are 21 head to Marus Seru and agro / fear kite to 27 or so.

6) 27+ ... head to Timorous Deep and solo the spirocs on the Ogre island. After you get good with fear kiting here you can be fear kiting 2 or more at the same time. This will take you to 32 or slightly higher. Lead off with engulfing darkness so you minimize the resist rate on your kites and then follow with dooming, until you get high enough that the resists are lower. Another very good viable option here (no exp bonus but safer exp), is the giants in Frontier Mountains at the fort there. Shouldn't be too hard to get a group and the loot is quite good for the level.

7) Now you hit 32.. head to Dreadlands.. there maybe better places than this but it worked great for me. Once you get your 44 pet you will rock with fear kiting to no end here.. When you start to fear kite, get next to the castle on the north side (BW / FM), and pull them all the way to the pad while you run toward FV side of the pad. Now fear them and they will walk back toward the west parrallel to the castle. No adds and easy fear kiting. Stay away from the spiders until you are a fair amount higher. They are more spell resistant and some will snare you and have sow. You might want to group for a bit, but then work into the fear kiting. You can solo till you get a group or solo the whole time.
A Staff of the Dreaded Gaze would be a great help after you are high enough to use the fear effect. P.S. Everyone will tell you that you are too low when you are there to group. Ignore them and fear kite as I mentioned. Skeles camps are slower and harder than the fear kiting if done right (and less chance of adds) so leave them to the less informed necros.

8) So you hit 44.. you can either keep kiting in DL or head to BW to make some good exp and very good loot. The giants at the giant fort drop some of the best vendor loot in the game. Allot of it sells for 40pp - 90pp to vendors. The respawn time is fast too so you will always get giants. you can solo pull everything there too, just be careful as you track them out of the fort that you don't get a second one. Also time the spawns at the bottom of the ramp so you dont get a second one there too. Agro kite them around the side of the fort and you wont pick up any adds. You can also fear kite in SF at 44 but watch what you pull there if you do, There are some mobs that spawn there that you cant take even if you are level 60 without help (lavawalker, guardian wurms, etc). Go with someone to watch the pulls to do it right and you have to have some form of run enhancement. Also leave the chromadracs ALONE. They will DoT you and dispell.

9) Now you are 49.. you have a choice.. head to Skyfire and begin to fear kite the wurms, devourers, drakes, etc.. there, or head to cobalt scar and hunt them there. I personally prefered Skyfire because if you kite in front of the BW valley they will walk back and forth in the valley with no chance of adds, but there is a small experience penalty vs CS. You can make faster exp in CS if you don't get adds. The choice is yours. This will take you to 52 in no time.

So now you have arrived. At this stage of the game it is going to go slow. Velketors Labrynth with the spiders there is an option; also PoJ after you hit 55. There just isnt any really good places to fast level to about 60 when you can go to Plane of Valor and then it will take off again. PoD is great when you can actually get a group there. Resist soloing in the planes till you are much higher because the mob hit so hard and your snares will be resisted ALLOT there. People may try to get you to join them in soloing, but it will likely just get you killed which doesnt lead to any experience anyhow.

Good hunting guys!

Wow, great guide Doomfir!!

So, I'm 40, would you say DL is good exp until 44 then? pretty quick? I'm at plaguebones now, but i'm wondering if the backside of KC would be better?

I'm not sure about necros but as a mage I stayed in various ruin groups from 36 till about 50 in DL then the mobs started to go BD and LB on me. You should do the plague skellies till they turn DB or LB and head over to either BB or S Ro and LDoN there. You're undead nukes and slows will be very much welcome.

I personnally leveled from 52 to 56 in Skyfire. Just move pass the entrance to the Overthere. Mobs in that area are higher in lvl and usually drop spells that can be sold for good PP. The fear path in that area is huging the walls which is good. Don't pull anything that has a weird name since they usually summon. Remember to keep all necro spells drops for the trade in at the Outpost in the Overthere; That's how I got my lvl 53 pet.

Good luck!

Just a heads up for killin around Karnors Castle..

If you go inside, this kills your faction with the overthere vendors. I had to pay others to buy my spells for me.

Just a heads up.

After 47 Gunthak and Dulak are pretty good for XP and Cash at the same time. YUo ought to be able to find an open spot in a group. NO FEAR KITING in eitehr zone or you will be the caboos of a nasty train.

aother good low to mid 50's place is Chardok... i soloed in there for a while on and off between 52 and 55.... just remember 2 things if you see two across from each other in the hall pull RIGHT one first... if you pull left you will get both due to pathing and the other thing is DO NOT go near the gatehouse ...it cannot be single pulled till your over 60. There are 8 in the hall you can work your way up and down and back again with almost no downtime. I just rootparked and didnt even use my pet other than to help IF i got an add.

heh just stick to your own city... all starting cities have rats or what not running around in them for getting some good exp 1-3 or 4... you dont have to travel to neriak for it heh

Plane of Nightmares and Plane of Mischief have been my soloing homes for the last several levels now. The experience is very nice for soloing and the mobs aren't hard to kill.

*Always have SoW for this, JBoots are too slow IMO if you get resisted on ths snare and just make the process of getting a snare to stick take longer than it needs to. Just stop by the Bazaar and pick up a 10 Dose Blood of the Wolf, they usually go for ~80-100pp on Veeshan.

-Pull with Dooming Darkness (mana efficient and a nice cast time).
--Always be ready for a resist. In the event that happens; build up some distance and recast (Cascading Darkness takes a year to cast, and the mob will catch up to you before you can fire it off, which is why I use Dooming), repeat as necessary til the snare sticks.

-Depending on your level, toss in Astyole or Cessation of Cor (as they are debuffs, they are almost guarenteed to keep you at the top of the hate list).

-Send in your pet; make sure pet taunt is off.

-Add your favorite DoTs (I use Pyrocurer, Envenomed Bolt, and Vexing Mordinia).

-Reapply snare/DoTs as necessary (waiting until snare wears off before recasting is not recommended... hehe).

All in all, this is really nothing new to seasoned aggro kiters whom likely have their own variation of aggro kiting that works for them. This is just the formula that I currently use for soloing the planes; especially PoM, as I believe the minimum mob level there is 56, so Fear is useless (and you shouldn't be using Fear in the planes anyway, be they PoP planes or not :P).

this is all very helpful personally i solo'd in PoJ from 49 to 52. what i did was stay in GY area and go look in the bar'd windows, these mobs are the exit grp mobs, i pull with my ceramic ring wich is only a 5dmg life tap.

-1 of 2 things will happen A. the mob will run to the bar'd window and keep running till he teleports thru them or B. run out his room and run all the way around till he comes up the stairs.

- i have my pet catch (easy for me with 5dmg tap)

- dooming darkness, i cant stress enuf on this spell as lvl 57 i still use this over other snares

- get agro from pet, lay your favorite DoT's i like Venom of the Snake gets agro right away agro kite around the GY until mobs drops dead.

- rince and repeat =)

- Beware dont run to close to the windows, because they might add

- also VERY important keep the iksar mob by the stairs window down, cause he will add and train u, sucks a lot when that happens

have fun all hope i was helpful

Another good plan to get to lvl 20 in a matter of hours is as follows

(this first part works great for DE's and also not the best way to go without help)
1. get about 20p buy about 5 stacks of red wine head to 3rd gate in neriak go into the library. Once inside the library there is a room on the left with a DE male inside give him 4 red wines at a time (rember not 4 at once but split them up) this will get you to lvl 4-5 b4 the stacks are gone. after that find a druid thats atleast 46 (KEI factor) (i did this with my wifes Druid and Pl'd my wizzy this way)
2. now head to befallen or Kurns tower (now in kurns u can stay to lvl 20 of if you go to befallen stay there to lvl 10)
3.after befallen go to Pauld till you in your 20s

Now the key to making this work is the Drui all i had to do was keep myself healed and have thorn's up at all times. Hit each mob only once and let thorns do the rest. Only problem with this form of power lvl'n is you dont get the chance to rais spell skill up and you will see alot of Fizz but if that dosent bother you then it's a good idea.

Befallen and kurns is good because it gives Dungeon and undead xp bonus plus a good suply of bonechips...

There was a question about the spirocs at the level mentioned. Yes you can do them at the level I mentioned. Only the provens are high enough to resist some of your spells at the lower level, but they are a push over after you get to the 30's. You might have been thinking of the raptors in the south part of the zone? Those you could not do till much later, but I caution them anyhow since you will get adds. Those islands are typically reserved for the quad kiters such as wizards and druids.

Well, I did, shadweave thicket till lvl 9 or so, get silks and hopper hides, can sell those or do a little starting skill stuff, and they didnt mind I was an ikky. at lvl 9 I paired up with a mage and we cleaned out kurns til lvl 22 then finished up at PC til 24. At 24 we headed over to MS, stayed there til 30, then LDON came out, woot, LDON for necro's is great, exp bonus and off tank if needed, or do what ever the group needs. I did do some OT and some DL if I didn't have time for an adventure, but LDON has been some really good exp and grouping for my necro.

The spirocs on Ogre Island range from leve 39 (Proven) to 50 (Lightbringer). My 52 necro soloed them in the 40's. I don't think I'd try it at 21, jmho.

Doomfir

The highest level in the bird city is the proven. The Warrior is off to the south on an abuttment rock and if there is a lightbringer past him, he inst there often because I have yet to see him. He is NOT in the spiroc city.

If you are squimish, then by all means do something like Marus Seru instead. Very good exp and the zone is close to where you can hunt. The golras in TD are also an option.

The levels listed on Eq bestiary for the spirocs is

A Spiroc Lightbringer 50 - 50 Monster
A Spiroc Lightfoot 35 - 37 Monster
A Spiroc Proven 39 - 42 Monster
A Spiroc Warrior 41 - 43 Monster

I personally think these numbers are WAY too high. A lighfoot is def not 35 - 37. That would put him higher than a rathe mountain hill giant and I had a harder time with hill giants than I ever did with a lightfoot. I think a lightfoot hits around 50+ and a hill giant hits for 75+ 85 or so.

Spirocs are first, then raptors second.

They also put Dinus = to spiroc proven, and if ANYONE has ever hunted on the raptor islands they would know that is a crock. Dinus is probably one of the highest mobs in the zone other than the named serpent, or the high elf guy (Alrik Farsight) on the middle island in the zone. They put him <= a viscous raptor which is his PH. I think those posted levels are totally off base.

Giants are supposed to have more HP's and hit harder... They're giants, think about it, it makes sense.

Doomfir
12-30-2003, 11:32 AM
Very true.. but they are also 32-34 which was my point. If they hit harder than most mobs for their level then if a spiroc didnt hit as hard then that would put him equal in level as the giant which is 32-34 and not 37-43. The proven may be as high as 43 though; Dinus however is at least 46 (named raptor).
