I am a newbie player, and have currently a 12th level Necromancer, and I just came to understand how to 'Fear Kite'. My question is, are there other tatics Necomancers can use effectivley? If so what are they called and how do you do them? And please remember I am very new to this and feel like a 'special' person trying to understand most of what gets said about this game. If its not to much trouble a step by step example would be Great and very appreciated!! Thanks.

When fear kiting, you use your snare spell to pull a mob, the "darkness" line. Then, when the mob gets close you cast Fear, cast a few DoTs (your spells that cause damage over time) and send your pet. This lets you kill a mob without ever being hit.
That said, it isn't terribly effective at least until your early 20s. You get better darkness spells at that point that last longer, and eventually more DoTs and a longer lasting fear. The main concern is that you never want the snare to wear off or the mob will be on you quick.
You also want to make sure that you never Fear mobs into other mobs that may assist. I good place to learn is in front of the Overthere Fort near the PoK book at around level 18-20. The cactus and cockratice mobs don't assist one another, so you won't get adds.
Another method is aggro kiting, which is basically the same, but you don't cast Fear and instead, cast a damage spell (after the mob is snared), run away a bit, cast a damage spell, etc. This works better at higher levels due to control and mobs being immune to Fear.
However, from 12-20, you may be better off just tanking along with you pet and casting a few damage spells. Undead are especially good, since you have a decent undead line of nukes.

Thank you! That was by far the most helpful post I have gotten back. I was under the impression I needed to learn certain tatics early, its good to know I have a few level yet before they really are needed, I can in essence I have time to practice.
Again Thanks.
One thing Rijak left out be sure to turn off pet taunt when you are agro kiting.

And to turn off taunt, you click the button in the pet window that says "Taunt" (no, this doesn't tell your mob to taunt each time you click this...it toggles whether or not your pet will taunt automatically when engaged in combat).
Not sure if I'm breaking it down too basic...just not taking for granted that you've had a pet class before.
Just look for the emote your pet gives you after clicking that button...it will tell you if he's going to taunt or not.

Ya, thanks for the info but that in the kinda stuff I can trail and error. I guess what I was really asking was for a description on how the tatics were implemented in certain situations.
For Instance
In a Zona with Mobs that are indifferent yet social with wide open space and hills what would eb the best tatic, like in Marus Seru.
Or what tactics would be used in Pulling from the caverns of the Nethebian Lair.
Again I might be asking questions that dont really have answers, I have fought in both places and have yet to fins one tactic that works most the time. In NL I found it easy to single pull, DoT, Fight (to improve my Offense, Defense, and Peircing, and now Dodge), LifeDraw (or Tap whatever does 105) and then rest a minute and do again.

Ahh Netherbian Lair, I have many good memories of that place. Once you get into the 20s and get the spell "Screaming Terror" you can use it to pull the Netherbian mobs (the ones that run on all fours all hunched over) single outta the caves. Find 2 mobs together, cast screaming terror on one and run. The other mob will follow you. Then you can fear kite it in the hallway to Dawnshroud. When screaming terror wears off the first mob, more often than not it will not come after you (Screaming Terror has a "mem blur" effect, that means there is a chance that the monster wont remember you).
Set your camp up at the pillar in the innersection of the halls to Marus Seru and Dawnshroud, pull outta the tunnel system directly opposite the hall to Marus Seru. You will never run outta mobs to pull and its good exp till around level 29 or 30. You can start there before you get Screaming Terror but you will have to FD split the mobs or Fear Kite 2 at a time if you have the mana pool to do that.
