Last night I really needed some quick pp. Since I am working on getting the grand robe of the Oracle quest done, I saw a book in the bazaar that I needed to get (History of the Di'Zok). Well.. I have been on a buying spree lately and had spent all but 58kpp. The book was 60k and it was sure to be bought if I procrastinated... so off to OOT I went.

I really forgot how good the loot is from the seafurries.. but it is as good or better than the hill giants in rathe but a whole lot less camped. Do they drop as much pp as the HG's of rathe? no.. but they drop vendorable goods such as mithril amulets (145pp plus) and saphires (65pp) etc.. I made 1k pp in about 20 minutes tops and then went back to the bazaar and got the book. Left me with about 50pp in the bank but that is life..

Reason I shared this is that many people think about the hill giants in rathe for loot, but forget about the cyclops in OOT. Was one other person in OOT with me and he was camping gornit the HG (can drop 40pp plus) on the same island. If you got gornit and the seafurries you could make some really good pp fast. If you are in your 40's this would be a good exp camp as well as loot.

Another bonus to this camp is that they spawn fast! Even root rotting up to 3 mobs while the pet tanked another one I was not able to completely clear the entire island and that is at 65 using Horror etc.. The only thing a 40-50 has to watch for is quag maelstrom (think that is his last name). He is level 52 or possibly higher. I stomped him multiple times in short order but he might be more of an issue for a lower level. He kept casting mana sieve on me... :-) But didnt get any to stick.

Back to veksar for belts is all I can say till I make another couple 100k for the two remaining books i need.

Quag varies from lvl 46 - 48. Just fyi.

Reason why he is dangerous to lower lvls who dont know of him is his mana tap. Even with lich form he can drain mana fast enough for you to be oom very quickly if you arnt 55+ or have about 150 resist magic.

His manataping can be exploited in a way, even if your lower lvl then he, he can be beaten easily. If you have mid to very high magic resist he is a joke.( magic resist should be about 175 for consistant resists ) He will continiue to cast his mana tap untill it lands, meaning anyone can stand right next to him while pet is just beating away and he will rarely if ever swing while in melee.

Just some added info.

Again, grats on the book doom, i knew you were getting tired of trying to mess with your trader. Still havent gotten my spell grrr.

I recommend bringing along a Druid to distract him... while he's sucking up all their mana, you're killing him :).

That was how we took him down when duoing on the island, though it wasn't a deliberate tactic... he just hated the Druid more than my Mage until I started nuking him :).

LOL. I read this post and heard this before. I can't beleive I fell for this nOOb story again.
I knew it was undercamped from taking my Farmer there, LONG Ago. The Money ranged from 7 gold per kill to a High of 5 plats and small amount of change.

Well my necro, 49 has been killing spectrals in TT making 4pp per kill and vendor trash. 100 kills per lvl I'm taking in 550 plats. It's not like I need money, but greed struck home once more. So I send the Farmer back to OOT and seafuries, 7 gold to 5 plat and small change, in 1 hour of 55 farmer killing I made 225 plats MAXIMUM Including Vendor Trash, eyeballs and toes, plus a few words.....

LOL. You got me again because I fell for that story Once more.......

P.S. What should have tipped me off was the History of Dizok, Max 7k on xegony...

I don't think he was joking, and seafuries can be decent money..especially if they're dark blue/good exp still(money is good for your level, not necessarily good for any level). It is however like anything else in eq, you can walk out with 200pp cash and 3 stacks of seafury foam, or you can get 4 mithril amulents, 9 fire emeralds and 3 saphires and make 2k. It's just the randomizer. Something to consider, Doomfir is 65 and VERY familiar with this hunting spot so he's going to kill ALOT faster then someone around level 50. More dead mobs=more loot, and more chance for gems etc. The book on the nameless could be more money there simply due to number of quest-happy people there, server population, and contention level for loot of that caliber could be higher there then where your at. I really don't think he's joking, especially since he's been working on this quest for atleast several weeks(since his first post on it was back in January). You could of just had bad luck, or killed heinously slowly. There's NO comparison between the kill rate of a 65 necro and even a level 60 necro, nevermind a 50ish necro...pls take that into account. Personally if I want money, and don't *need* it immediately I clear out droga and load up my trader, or do 2-4 hard ldon missions to get something to sell.

Doomfir wasnt kidding.

We were both in oot at the same time though on different servers.

We were trying to see if we could clear the entire island before respwan while farming plat.

He made about 200p more then i did, yet im sure we killed about the same amount. Pet kills one while me/him would kill 4 others at the same time.

He got a few amulets i didnt see a one.

I was doing Gornit as well, who dropped an average of 35p ea. Doomfir wasnt able to kill him cause someone was already camping him.

As for the book, i know Doom had talked about tryin to get it for awhile.. he ended up getting it. He now has the Robe, having gotten all the books. Grats again Doomfir.
