Im an up and coming necro, level 46 soon to be 47 thanks to a guide on this site, and my questions is this.
WHich ldon spot is the best to start doing? I have done a lot of the EC but i know that each camp is kindof centered around a few classes and when you get a lot of pts the stuff you can aquire can be better than PoT gear. Just curious.

MM has the silk outfit, EC has the dot focus, Nro has the pet focus, and miragul (everfrost) has your 64 dot. The only one you don't really need much from is SRO. Which does have protection of callaiv, but that's rarely used/purchased.

There is something about that spell though that I was not aware that makes it a very good addition to your arsenal (albeit situational). The spell does not block a specific amount of dmg (despite some documentation I have read to the contrary).. it blocks a specific number of attacks. What does this mean? It means it gets much better for your pet the harder the mob hits. If you are taking on a super mister nasty, then you can protect your pet from the wayward strike that might kill him very quickly etc (enrage comes to mind).

I have just started using the level 58 cousin to this and my rogue pet stood up to a BoT mob when the tank went down (due to having a very poor cleric in the group) long enough for me to get evac off; and he wasnt even down ANY in health when I gated. I do not know how long the bigger cousin spell lasts, but if that one is an indication it would def be worth it situationally.

Maybe this will help out. It's a list of items in each dungeon... what Jeb says is correct, however, if you''re poor and in need of upgrades badly (like my cleric did) a lot of people opt for 760 pt armor which is in EC for casters.... the BB stuff for 1492 pts is really nice, but if you're looking to upgrade more things in a shorter period of time the 760 pt armor from EC is probably the way to go. EC also has some fairly cheap augments. A +20m augment which is non-no drop and an extended range 3 aug ... each for a bit over 300 pts.... (as well as the BA4 aug for 1150 pts)

Take a look at this link. Decide what you want to buy first and go to that camp until you earn enough pts is the best advice.

Happy adventuring to you!!

The thing about protection of callaiv that makes me not get it is duration, you'd basically have to keep it memmed to use it and that's just not gonna happen.... After 65 levels and tons of aa'ing it doesn't take a genius to figure out when to and when not to send your pet into an encounter, by time you have the points for this spell and are even thinking about getting it, you have pet hold, so AE agro = nadda. The "insta-gibbing" of pets isn't something that happens frequently. The only reason I could see for this is if your REALLY into pet tanking and have a few friends who are necros who do the same. Theoretically you could 3-4 necro rhag 1 in ssra with this spell, alternating callaiv's and touch's of death, I don't know why you'd want to but in theory you could. Then again, what's the point, your 65 with almost a full spell before this anyway, what are you really gonna do with that old stuff anyway? Just one more spell SOE gives us that's not a SCREAMING TERROR upgrade....

I do LDoN for 3 reasons at 50+-- spells, boredom and loot. LDoN spells until 50 are pretty good exp granted but after that it slows down so much I wouldn't bother with it purely for exp. Being the perfectionist I am however I like to get every spell there is, and that includes LDoN spells. Of course I believe myself that it takes WAY too many points to get those spells. So far the only one I have is the 39 Dark soul (77 point dot does slightly less total then VoS for same mana) and frankly for our class I find them mainly not worth it (if I didn't want every spell a necro can have in my spell book I wouldn't bother). granted they DO stack with our current dots (curse class these are) but considering if you want to get them at the level they are used at you usually have to do literally 10+ adventures! I usually do LDoN for loot/fun because if you have ever been on one you have to be on your toes to survive and you get some pretty amazing loot from the names (now theres just that little thing of #(@)# lottery). and of course since they are tailored to your level there is some (but not enough to choose it over PoP) exp. some people say its good for AA but I personally prefer other zones for that, and there is a post about pling here but I think they are just plain stupid (no offense). I myself have tried soloing when a bad group bails with the first sight of an add, and frankly they are MAJOR undercons with pretty bad exp to go with it if compared to other zones, so if you are doing this purely for exp id leave that for 40 under and stick to soloing in other zones.

Anyway for whatever reason you are doing it if you have decided to go, id stick to this format (and make sure before every time, quiz and lecture and be a teacher, that everybody knows their job): bard/paladin (puller), cleric/sham (healer, but only take sham as last resort), druid/shaman (sup healer/buffer), enchanter/bard (CC but personally only take bard as last resort for this position), you/mag/wiz (nuking/support), pal/shad/war(main tank). Got your group together? good. Now I won't go into strategies because its midnight and im tired, but pretty much my favorite zone to go to is MMC (bb adventure) because it is the only place (don't quote me on this) that has undead. Which means you, cleric and paladin can have a ball there! Anyway have fun adventuring it is a lot of fun and challenge.
