Freaking noobs

Ok so i'm minding my own business in PoK one day and this noob comes up and looks at my stuff. I'm like ok I guess they don't no it's nice to ask first. (i don't understand that either) So then they say out loud can you give me some stuff i'm new. So I /tell them and say no... Ha i no it's rude but thats how i did it. So the person cussed me out in the text box. Finally I give the guy some pp (i'm broke anyway) and he's like, thats all you are going to give me? so then i just ignore him and he finally goes away. But anyway is anyone else tired of these noobs that ask FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!¿¿¿¿¿¿¿

I normally just toss up the lovely(if under used) AFK flag, so between their tells they get no reply and suddenly I'm afk... Most get the hint. Sometimes I'll toss on afk and run around them in circles and never reply, I guess I sort of make a game of being rude /shrug it's all good I guess. If someone wants a spell combined, np...if someone I know needs help with something, fine...if a complete stranger on a level 1 character of a 5 year old game is begging for something on a naked character, I assume it's a /trader otw to bazaar and treat them accordingly.

I just respond with "Sorry, I don't give to beggars" if they say anything further, they go on my ignore list.

Real newbies don't have the sense of entitlement that beggars have so I don't feel guilty for a moment.

I hate when people beg for things. I have no problem tossing a newbie some plat for their spells, when I am wandering around neriak or something, but I do not generally give people things when they beg. If someone asks for my help I generally help them, but asking for my pp or items is not ok.

Heh, since I tradeskill, I almost always have some shitty items sitting around I can give out - I never give out pp, but I'll give out items.... BUT I make them do something first, like make up a haiku or a rap about me or chug a stack of drinks and run through somewhere slightly dangerous, or make them find me in some place noobs don't usually know how to get to (like the evil side bank in pok, lol when they can't find that, or the pok elevator) or some other such work that is preferably designed to embarras them, amuse me, and make them remember me.

I often have noobs ask em for stuff. I simply state, if you are a noob in pok, you arent really a noob, because no noobs know where to go to beg. Most of my bank is taken up with quest items and spell research, I do tell them, come back in 15 lvls prove to me you are going to stick around awhile and I'll make you a few spells. if its not a necro I state I give all my spare weapons to my pet, and if you are truely a noob then 10plat will do you good.


But the funniest noob thing that happens to me (cause I'm not wearing robes) is I have people come up to me and want me to buff them. ( they think Im a shammy) I tell them I'm a necro. and still repeat Buff me....and even offer me plat, I'll give you all the buffs I can.....hit them with dmf and spirit armor..okay I'm done. WTH...wheres sow, I don't have sow, WTF...what kind of shammy are you...I'm a necro. what kind of reader are you?

when will they learn? I usually give the plat back, but I let them stand dumb founded for a few seconds..

For those that ask me for money and items i basically tell them to earn it themselves. Not usually in that nice of wording however. Only thing i freely give away are my lower level research spells. They never seem to sell so i will make about 20 and then start giving them away.

Any of you ever bound yourself on the elevator?
I had a friend bind himself there and when he died he spawned and kept falling and dieing. Lost about 10 lvls that way.

Time to admit a true story...

/sigh I myself used to beg alot pre- level 5...

Yeah, I know its dispicable, but I did it. Of course, I dont now, but I remember whne I actually did.

In fact, It was another Nec that showed me the error of my ways. He took about an hour out of his time, even declined going on a raid with his guild just to sit down with me in the bank and explain to me that this wasnt the way to go about getting money.

He kind of gave me a revelation and talked me out of just beggin for p till I had enough to buy gear and spells.

Well needless to say, his advice is pretty much stuck in my head and whenever I see a newbie begging I /tell with them for 15 or so mins and give them some advice. Some follow it, some dont. But I decided to follow it, and enjoyued the game, and even one of my guildees commented having seen the way I begged at Level 3-5 and the way I handle beggars now.

No idea why im sharing this, Lol.. But hey, Im not one to hide anything. And yes, If asked for HELP, i generally am nice enough to give them a hand. Even helped a total newbie do his quest armor. But having the experience of a beggar, I know now how much it annopys people and I regret having begged.

I play Eq for the people and I frequently take my Druid alt out and buff everyone in EC or Misty or Nek stupid with Skins, Sow and regen. I pass on to my druid any stuff that normal people would sell. Serrated Bone Dirk, PoJustice Piercer, Charred Guardian Shield etc then hand them to legitimate noobies.

I do this because someone helped me out when I started and I am paying it forward.

What is a legitimate noobie? I here you ask. Well they have a few pre-requisites:
1. The best weapon they have must be made of rusty metal or wood.
2. The only armour they have Has a * on the beginning or the end.
3. They DONT ASK FOR HELP unless prompted by /ooc or /tell.

I like helping people out, but strangely enuff I dont like people running up to me and inspecting my stuff without asking and then DEMAND I plevel them or give them stuff.

I am just silly that way I guess.

I make it a practice that when I am in a noob zone to look around for those true newbs that are just starting out. I recall how cool it was win I was a true noob in the game and got help/advice from people, and try to give that to other that are joining the game.

I will go around newbie zones with some old items or junk I find in bank and hand it out to actual newbies as mentioned above definition I follow. This is because when I was 20 or so a nice shm came and set me up with a full suit of gear to wear. Cant even remember her name atm( but was so nice I hadn't even asked for it was just WTB certain items in nfp she said what you wearing and hooked me up. So every now and then when I am bored I go sit in FoB at the ramp buff heal burn to hell. What ever I can do to help then request them to help someone else once they are up in lvls. Have seen only one person follow this personaly but I would hope others have as well.
