View Full Version : Gear feedback

Basically, I want feedback here for gear short-comings. Not necessarily "your gear" short-comings(some of that is your doing). I want what isn't available at all at your level of play.

I don't want feedback like "Anguish foci aren't high enough". What I want is, feedback for foci/mod2's that are appropriate and suitable for your level of play that are NOT available. Class items of all levels that are devoid of foci..and if possible full set breakdowns of armor.

OoW has been out too long, don't expect changes. It's a good baseline on what we can reasonably expect our armors to have(and what should be available elsewhere).

DoDH, same deal..it's old, but well thought out. The mod2s are insane on this gear..and haven't been repeated/maintained..but it's not unreasonable to contrast that(and the groupable attainable gear) with new stuff, and base feedback for recommended changes off of that.

TSS and TBS group and raid gear feedback is really what I'm looking for here and what your posts should be aimed at. Please stay on topic and keep the language clean(at least clean enough that I don't have to edit every post before I copy/past it and e-mail it to merloc).

I posted this in a different thread, but my feelings haven't changed. Does sony have any plan in mind at all?

/q
I just don't get it. Sony comparatively gimps our class over 2 (arguably 3) expansions and then acts like they are doing us a favor by giving us a fire focus we should have always had available? Gear has ALWAYS been required for any necro that wanted to contribute.
At one point I read how proud Sony was that in EQ you could build your character in so many ways that there would almost never be identical characters. By putting key foci on only one or 2 items knowing that most necros view themselves as a dps class seems a little counterproductive to that. I expect you will see very little variety in sleeves in the top 100 soon. If this continues in 2-3 more expansions the top necros will all be geared similar.

Is this there plan?
Is this the same with all classes or does it just hurt us the worst because we require so many different foci?
/q

You're referencing group gear? If so, I need examples and what's lacking.

There's already a write-up for raid gear. If you have specific problems with lacking foci/mods/mod2s..you feel the hps/mana upgrades aren't sufficient, or want different/more clickable effects(within reason) please cite something specific.

Yer right, that was a generalized bitch. I apologize. I will send you all the spreadsheets you want, I guess my question is if I spend my time doing their job...will they even care?

Well, a handful of items have been changed for us due to feedback. The class item is getting a generic(in that it's similar to what everyone else is getting) fix. The TSS legs changed due to feedback..as will the TBS raid arms.

Merloc is listening when I PM him now, and generally is accepting of feedback..as long as it's of a certain quality. Whether that's enough for you to spend your time generating feedback, is completely up to you. I can't guarentee changes from any single piece of feedback..but the "commonsense changes" that haven't happened in the past are starting to happen now..albeit, slowly.

TSS foci is both sadly uncommon and many classed with additional clicks for competition:

FR 65% you have 2 options:

Iceweave Cloak of Blackest Night - Lorekeeper Grenwald (FC 1)
Stun Resist: +5% DoT Shielding: +5%
Class: RNG SHD DRU SHM NEC WIZ MAG ENC BST

Staff of Final Rites - Lethar 2.0 (AG North)
Shielding: +1%Spell Shield: +4% Strikethrough: +5% Regeneration: +7
Effect: Breath of Atathus (Any Slot/Can Equip, Casting Time: Instant) at Level 75
Class: ALL

I guess the strike through was for SK's with their fire dots? It *is* an all/all item, so it could be for anybody, but that's just mean! :P The cloak could use a few more mod2's.

MR 65% you have 2 options:

Sothgar's Ghostly Mantle - Stitch/Sothgar (AG East/West)
Spell Shield: +3% Regeneration: +4 Mana Regeneration: +4
Class: RNG SHD DRU SHM NEC WIZ MAG ENC BST

Crystalline Shoulder Pads of Gelid Winds - Beltron the Shade King (FC 2)
Shielding: +4% Spell Shield: +4% Regeneration: +6
Effect: Breath of Selay (Any Slot/Can Equip, Casting Time: Instant) at Level 75
Class: ALL

Both have so-so mod2's, though I do like the shielding even if it's something we rarely get any benefit from.

20% det mana pres you have 2 real options (replacing epic is not an option):

Dyn`leth's Elegant Belt - Dyn`Leth (AG North)
Regeneration: +4 Mana Regeneration: +4
Class: RNG SHD DRU SHM NEC WIZ MAG ENC BST

Embroidered Wool Band of Poetry - Lethar 2.0 (AG North)
Shielding: +2% Spell Shield: +2% Avoidance: +20 DoT Shielding: +4% Regeneration: +2 Mana Regeneration: +2
Class: NEC WIZ MAG ENC

The wrist is a wonderful example of how to do it right re: mod2's and class distribution imho, though I'd much rather have form of endurance 4 than a resist clicky, since resists largely do not matter any more. Dyn`Leth's belt has pretty poor mod2's. FT/regen should be one of the more populous mod's, it would be nice to have additional ones.

23% det spell haste, 2 real options:

Cinderskin Buckler - Sothgar/Stitch (AG East/West)
Shielding: +3% Spell Shield: +3% DoT Shielding: +3%

Wyrmband of the Devoted - Lethar 2.0 (AG North)
Stun Resist: +5% Mana Regeneration: +3

The lethar ring is more desirable due to its hp/mana, but its mod2's are sad. It could definitely use more and better numbers, especially for being on the endboss of that half of the expansion. I mean the 'Fabled Lightbringers Earring' has technically better mod2's.

Forwarded to merloc,
Thanks for the write up. I know this gear has be hashed and rehashed several times over, and even though everyday that passes makes a change(beneficial) less likely, it can always give him something to think about for next time.

hey guys i know its been quite some time since i have been on but i have noticed one thing that i have always wondered. you said clickies. well there are 2 that would be great. one it i use all the time is tiny companion. i know that there is one that drops in time. but that is a rather rare drop. and also summon companion would be nice. as much as i have been running lately, i will get where im going and have to wait for me pet. not a big deal but you are asking. i mean this could be like a level 40 quest for these items. summon companion, im not so worried about but i use tiny a ton. or ever throw us a bone, give us a spell that summons an item that will have these effects on them that we can put in a bag and use 10 times or even 5. hell even dmf i use that alot also. there are a several spells that a necro uses that could be made into a clicky that would just make more sense. i know that when i have to switch inbetween 3 or 4 utilily spells it kinda stinks. yet again these clickeis could be done in either quest, which that would be nice or spells for basically sumoning stone type. i mean they could do that with every class. there are certain effects and spells that make no sense why there is no midlevel click stick for it. a i lazy no i just like everything to flow really nice is all.

Ofossaa the enlightened :p actually not too bad to kill these days, although I never had any luck with that piece of shit.

I personally use the bristlebane clicky orb for both my pet and myself, fight is about the same difficulty (i boxed it). Could always go for that pain in the ass dodh trash drop too.

the plane of time range is both a pet foci and tiny companion. I suggested that all pet foci items double up a while ago..apparently it fell on deaf ears.

I wont point out anything i'll just say he needs to revamp focuses and mod2's on Solteris gear totally.

I just don't get the guy. Did he play at Qvic raid level before he went to soe? It certanly seems to be that way since anything he makes ain't better than that mod vise.

It's sad when you need to argue with him for 3-4 months with multiple PM's to change 1 fucking item.

well. I cannot honestly give good examples of higher end, as the team I'm in is just hitting demiplanes, so we're just getting the into the nifty things ... but I can comment on some lower end TBS which needs commenting upon.

Praetorian's Energeiac Silk (anything)
Citizen's Energeiac Silk (anything)

those lines of silk equipment still have "Combat Effects" instead of stun resists. I have only 2 items of Praetorian's Energeiac Silk, and that was primarily due to lack of stun resists.

Sadly, I only have DoDh gear, but my only beef is why doesn't Praetorian's armor have a pet foci??????

I'm not asking for the the best, but giving a pet foci to midrange Necros would be wonderful since we have to "bust" out the faction to get it.

Just a thought......

Praetorian armor is archetype, not class specific. Wizards and enchanters don't have pets(or templates for the things they call pets)..therefore, no pet foci on armor.

There's items in ashengate, zhisza and the buried sea that all have pet foci on them(typically range items). Anguish and qvic boots should be easy to get.

Khyandys
10-23-2007, 07:34 PM
I don't understand that. Most of the focus effects on the armor are not equally-useable by all of the int casters, anyway, so I don't see why wiz/enc being unable to use pet focus should keep it off the armor set. I mean, nec/enc have no use for the cold damage focus, yet there it is on the gloves.

Not that I really care one way or the other about the absence of the pet focus. I just don't understand that reasoning.

Jebasiz
10-23-2007, 07:48 PM
This is only visible armor, it's not meant to be all encompassing.

A cold focus is a better focus for mag/wiz then a pet focus is for nec/mag. It's also harder to acquire outside of visible armor. IMO, the armor is pretty well designed from a focus standpoint.

Auree
11-25-2007, 03:25 AM
sorry. I'm not on there very often.

well. being never on the cutting edge of equipment, I've personally prefer that the pet focus not be on the armor, though it's convenient.

the pet things they've put so far have been less useful than an effect they could have otherwise offered, so I'm fine swapping in & out a focus just for making a pet. I've been doing that seemingly forever.

The older raid foci have been better than what they put on groupable items. perhaps that's different now.

locking now. You can start a new thread for SoF gear.
