Well,
I am new to this great game and from this forum i think i made the correct choice with a nec as a main char. Tried a warrior but bored of it quite fast. Only problem is that spouses as always dont mix well with computer games. (Any hints with that problem is welcome ;) )
anyways i got some general questions:
1)
Is it possible to set the pet to auto assist some1 else in melee,
so i can be afk and my pet still assists the tanks in a group ?
2)
What is the best spell to increase the conjuration magical skill ?
3)
Do spells get trivial at a certain skill lvl ?
I got the feeling that my conjuration only goes up when i summon my lvl 20 pet, not when i cast the lvl 12 darkness spell for pulling.
4)
Are there any good divination/evocation spells later that it worth increasing the skills ?

ah, and one more question.
Is it possible/legal to use triggers /chain triggers and how ?
Increasing magical skills by triggering spell casting might be a nice way of filling time while going for a smoke, pizza, phone call,.....
thx a lot in advance :)

not too sure whatcha mean by chain trigger, but all spells aer casted by clicking the spell button on the bar, or hotkeying /binding it to a key.. I usually use 1,2,3,4 slots for my main spells tha I need to have up during fighting, or situational (groups, raids) uses.
There has been some stories of peeps able to created a "true bot" to do things while they were afk, but I'll take a stab in teh dark and say, 1) its illegal , 2) extremely difficult to do, 3) probably not worth your time since you're a new player, just play teh game :)
As far as skilling up a skill like "abjuration" or other spell specialty skills, just cast teh low lvl one over n over and it will skill eventually. Teh low lvl ones are more mana efficient and will fizzle less (if you're having that problem).. Ask a chanter for Clarity as well. I usually got my skillups in PoK or someplace neutral so u won't get attacked.. Evocation is a good one to skill up too, when I was low lvl, I didnt nuke as much as it wasnt as mana efficient as dotting, but when I got a semi useful nuke, I found that I needed to skill it, so spent an hour or two in pok/nexus nuking my pet lol. cya around,

1) Far as I know you have to be there and tell pet to assist antoher player unless you are hit by the mob, then the pet will auto attack the mob that struck you.
2) Chain cast disease cloud on your pet. It cost 10 mana with only a 1.5 sec cast time.
3) Spells dont get trivial at any level.
4) Destroy Undead (1200 DD) Evo. 300 mana.
divination - pretty worthless to us necros.. not to many spells require it.. maybe invis spells but thats bout the extent of it.
Far as a bot goes.. sorry not any that I know of.. but You can macro a spell up to 5 times onto a button so you dont have to click quite as often...
Edit on of your buttons macros and type the following in...
/pause 100, /cast 1
/pause 100, /cast 1
/pause 100, /cast 1
/pause 100, /cast 1
/cast 1
The pauses, while listed first on the line will actually execute after the second command. Alter the 100 to what ever cooldown the spell requires. I believe that the 100 ~ 10 secs but not positive.. not infront of the game ATM to check. I'll look in to the idea of a bot though.. would help max out skills which otherwise are mind numbing clicks performed in POK.
Hope that helps a bit.
Edit: actually now that i think about it.. i think that the /pause 100 actually pauses for 1 sec and not 10 secs..

Hehe, I always thought that 1 pause was .1 second, so 100 would = 10 seconds, but to always be safe you could just put pause 1000 lol ;)
Edit: Oops messed up on me quote

Pause is measured in 1/10s of a sec, so pause 10 is 1 second.
Oh, and when you see "/pause xxx, /cast 1" the pause actually takes place after the cast. Pause is also the only command you can "stack" onto a command line like that.

By "chain trigger" what most people mean is they use a joystick with a rapid fire button and program the button to a key command. So if your trigger is set to the "1" key, and hot key macro for hotkey 1 is /cast 1 and your spell you want to skill up with is in the first gem slot then it will continually cast the spell, even when you go oom, you can cast everytime you gain enough mana to do it again. Works well on a Mount and with a KEI buff to start with. Go afk come back 3 hours later, maxed skill...

I will give you one BIG tip that I rarely see on necro boards: Beef up each skill as much as possible per level including DEFENSE skill.
Each skill has a formula that determines how much you can increase that skill based on your level. Also, you should malee with mobs at the early levels to increase defense skill. Why? For each increase in defense, you get 2.5 points in AC. Max defense is 145. If you wait to try this at the post level 30 or 35, the mobs hit too hard. Do this in early levels and you will be a much happier necro. Many high level necros have regretted not doing this.
