Hi i'm a newly returned player to the game starting over with a necro instead of taking my monk out of retirement.
Last time I played level 70 was the cap, not sure which expansion was the latest but now I see some people recommending new players to level in TSS zones and do the armor quests there instead of the taking the normal path of kurns, PC, EC, OT, DSP, PoP, etc.
Having no experience whatsoever in TSS, I ask is this the best option? Other than the armor quests, how's the exp?
I'm currently level 23, went from the tutorial to Kurns to Paludal and now i'm doing needlites in Echo. I figure i'll stay here to 29 or 30 so the decision now is after that to head to DSP or head over to TSS zones. Any advice is appreciated.

Check the Hot zones.... go through the progression in each of them...
I returned last March after 3 years and hit each hot zone up and was 70 in 3 months.
I am a casual player also...so it was pretty quickly..it also helps knowing the game.

I fully agree with the above, hot zones until you're around 58. Hit the ZI to the steppes, and work the lower level snakes/lizards there. Resists are fairly common for a level or 2, on the snare ... but very much worth the risk. I was pulling 2% regular experience per kill for about 3-4 kills, then would get 1% on the next. AAxp was close to 10% per kill, which took about 4-5 minutes of kiting. Stay at 61-62 and knock off some AA, at 63 the ZI mobs give about 6% aa, still quite good though.

Stay with the hotzones until level 40. At level 40, go to Goru'kar Mesa (from PoK, take the book to Blightfire Moors, then go north around the swamp on the west side to Goruk'ar Mesa at the far north of the zone). When you zone in, follow the left wall a little ways and you will see 2 NPCs standing there. Scout Madu is the one you want to talk to. He is the quest NPC for the level 45 TSS armor. This is some really good stuff. Here is the gear that you will get:

That's a lot of mana regen and hp regen. By the time you finish doing all of the quests, you will be able to wear the stuff (will take you through a few levels doing all of the quests). After you get your TSS gear, you can go back to the hotzones and level up again. That gear will take you into your 60s and by that time you will start to get better gear through grouping, raids, and quest.
I wish i had this kind of help when i started 6.5 years ago....but it was an entirely different game then.

Hehe thanks for the advice Nekrax but it's a tad too late, already 61 and with generally better gear than those quest items.
Maybe someone else will see this thread and it will help them though.
