View Full Version : My AA progression so far...

As soon as I hit 51 I got run3, regen3, and meta1. Then after doing a little reading from these forums I did the extra spell slot AA at 55. Turned off AA xp and leveled to 60 where I got my "safety net" and then did scm2 and scf1. I decided to level up to 61 before doing anymore AA grinding. I have to tell you, AC is an extremely easy zone for AA exp. I've gone from lvl 57 to 61 and got 11 AAs in only a few days total time played. I like this zone but man does it get boring. The aug is a decent aug and even the quest is decent (for us non-uber types). I figure I'll grind out a few more AAs here before I travel to the even further out-of-the-way hotzone, DN. Maybe I'll skip that one all together since I usually have enough guildies in WoS to get a group.
Anyways, after scm3 and scf3, what would be the next best choice?

Death Peace is arguably the AA I am most satisfied with the purchase of.

I'ld recommend getting Run5 soon, I found it made my life alot simpler, and cheaper.
As far as DN, I'm 62 and went there and found aaxp to be pretty slow, 2% per kill solo. Finding dk blue mobs at 62 was/is difficult, a majority are lt blue. The only real advantage I found is the mobs die very very fast, Darkness, Funeral Pyre adn Dark Plague, mobs dead before the dots wear off.

I agree with the suggestions - go for death peace & runspeed 5 asap. DP will save you gobs of mana if you feign much at all, and give you another gem to stuff with a DoT for more DPS. Runspeed will never be regretted, and always cherished.
I'd put a much lower priority on SCF, like somewhere around the bottom of the list until you are well into DoT crits. With SCF3 you will not increase your survivability or DPS by any sustained margin - you can exclusively lifetap mobs to death and go 3-5 mobs without a single crit. It is eye candy only; the real stuff is DoT crits which should ultimately take priority over all.

Care to share your leveling path from 50-61 Hanavas?
Yes I know there are whole forum sections and guides for this stuff.. but 90% of that info is so out of date it's embarassing. Hard to find people who have leveled their nec recently.
Actually, the info is still right on. I'm 65 atm. PoP is gonna be your friend.
PoN ravens till the XP drops off, then PoN gargs. When XP drops off, do the cave in PoV. Then HoH basement. Then NC murkgliders at the zonelines for a level or two, then NC Stingers to 65+.
Not sure where the 50 - 60 areas are in TSS, though I'm sure the XP is good there as well.
I'm just now considering heading to the gnolls in the Steppes for the aug. Should be interesting.
I have 40 AAs atm. Just finished CA3. Gonna get Death Peace, pet hold and run 5, then level to 70. AA some more, then level to 75. By that time, it'll probably be past November and I'll get to level to 80.

If anyone in your guild is kiting the Jewel of Atiiki instance, can't recall the name atm, ask to come along. The XP literally flies by.

Some of it's good, most of it's crap. Like HHK. Comparing HHK to soloing in any the hotzones now is laughable.. Echo to 50 is laughable. DSP is bad.. LoIO is bad.. any of the Karanas are bad.. yet these places are still listed in guides and you get people suggest them when you ask for somewhere to go at 'x' level.
It's just one of my pet peeves when I see people recommend places to level because they had a good experience leveling there 3-5 years ago. Personally if I had to sell my soul to avoid ever stepping in PoN ever again the price would be cheap.
lvl 55-57: Blood Ravens at Plane of Nightmare Approx. 25 hours.
25 hours for 2 mid-levels. I'll pass thanks.

Anybody doing ravens from 55 - 57 need a brain transplant, I agree. I moved to PoV at 55 iirc, and I had been doing PoN gargs before that.
If PoP aint your cup o' tea, check allah's, or elsewhere, for recommended levels of TSS zones and have a ball!

Over the last six months I’ve leveled my Necromancer to 75. I’m sorry, but I didn’t keep a log of exactly where I hunted at each level, but in the fifties I did time in Plane of Nightmare doing mostly Gnarled Treants and ravens when they got in the way. Then Gargoyles for a short time, but moved to Halls of Honor basement somewhere between 58 and 60 I believe. That was good hunting (for me) as long as they were dark blue. Yes, there may be better places, but if anyone would care to suggest specifics it would be much more helpful than simply stating that certain places are crap. After HoH I floundered around a bit, but finally settled in doing Snow Leopards in Icefall. They seem seldom camped and give good exp for some levels. Whether they are doable at what level will depend on your gear and spells.
I completely agree with getting Death Peace and Run 5 ASAP, they are the gifts that keep on giving. Whether to work on direct damage criticals or damage over time criticals is perhaps a matter of how you hunt. I use almost no DD spells in solo hunting so Fury of Magic is still on my “to do” list. I would also recommend Persistent Minion. It is really nice to be able to camp where you’re hunting and later wake your pet with his summoned weapons still intact.
For what it’s worth, here’s the path I took for my first 145 AAs. I am NOT saying it is optimum; that is certainly subject to debate, but it seems to be working and I don’t really regret any decisions.
Innate Run Speed 1, 2, 3
Innate Regeneration 1, 2, 3
Spell Casting Mastery 1, 2, 3
Pet Discipline
Combat Agility 1, 2, 3
Swift Journey 1, 2
Combat Stability 1, 2
Critical Affliction 1, 2
Mnemonic Retention
Critical Affliction 3
Lightning Reflexes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Combat Stability 3
Death Peace
Natural Durability 1, 2, 3
Advanced Pet Dicipline
Improved Critical Affliction 1, 2, 3
Suspend Minion 1, 2
Persistent Minion
The order of some of these was dictated by level restrictions on the AA and my personal balancing between my general belief that Levels > AA and the fact I WANTED some of those AA’s and they made the leveling easier.

I know I soloed a lot in DS in my early 50's (pre hot zone). The exp wasn't the greatest but it was easy. I also did the Dranik instanced zones with my brother playing his necro and botting a shammy of about the same level. I hunted in Veksar quite a bit but never ventured too deep and spent a relatively short time in GE (tried soloing there but grouping was far easier and safer). At 57 and when they made the new hotzones I went to Acryla Caverns. I leveled from 57 to 61 there fairly quick and got around 20 aas there. At 61 the reg exp seems slow no matter where I go. I have found that reg exp is pretty much the same in DN as it is in AC and the aa exp in DN is only slightly better than AC. I spent some time in BoT last night with some guildies and got more than 1/2 way through 61 there.
I would recommend AC for reg exp to 60 but I will warn you...it gets mind-numbingly boring there after while. I solo there for aa exp still although I think I'm going to make the push to 65 before grinding more aas.
I have run3, regen3, meta1, scm3, scf1, pet discipline, theft of life1, and Mnemonic Retention

Level 61 and 30 AA is fine.
Focus on getting to level 67 for a huge power boost from new spells and the first Omens of War pet.
2600 HP and 4332 Mana unbuffed is also fine at level 61 simply because you can't wear the level restricted stuff from Dragons of Norrath and later yet.
