View Full Version : Where and what level?

I'm PL'ing my necro with a well geared (Anguish pretty much) 75 Beastlord and can solo in WoS without any down time and probably MPG as well although I have not tried it recently.

Where would I get the most AA reward for my PL'd toon (he's 54 right now) and at what level should I just go 100% AA to get the most bang for my buck.

In short, I'll sac him to level 50 if I have to until I can max the obtainable AA before moving on. I just want to know what level to stop at and where to level so I get the most AA reward when grouped with the 75 Beast. I was only getting 1% AA per kill in WoS at 51 so that kind of sucked.

Thanks for the help.

get to 55 and then head to PoV caves

I'm not certain, but the fact that the higher level toon in the group will 'suck up' the xp seems to be true.

A while back I transfered my then 59 cleric to his own account. I got him to 62 and then did some aa's, both leveling and aa xp was pretty slow when grouped with my level 75 necro. Now he's 73 and nearly 100 aa's, and both aas and regular xp come faster in the same situation then it did with the large level difference.

Do you mean grouped with the 75 beast? Or solo on my Necro alone?

I'd also like to know when PoV outer becomes soloable.

You can zone in at 55 I believe...but I wouldn't do it without some buffs then, mainly for runspeed. I had real problems with resists at 55. By 57 or 58 I was soloing it fairly easily though.

Either one. It'll definitely be harder solo, and you'll have to take mana breaks most likely, but if you have the BST there for slows, crack and emergency tank outside of the group, it should go nice and fast. If you have a PoI factory key, the spiders are ridiculously fast kills to get yourself up to 55, though significantly less xp per mob. Depending on how fast you can kill them, PoI may even go faster post 55 grouped.

I'm mainly interested in what level to stop normal xp and switch to 100% AA so I can get my AA as fast as possible. I can duo up normal xp fast in WoS with Lesson. I'm getting almost a level an hour duo'ing. I'm concerned about when I should stop and get the best bang for my time in AA xp mostly.

Any guidance on that?

You don't need guidance on that, it doesn't matter. Get the extra spell slot and death peace aa when they're available. Other than that, at any point as a necro you can get 3-4 aa an hour from 55-75. You pretty much want dot crits and defensives after that. I would get the dot crits as soon as possible but as a necro spells > aa's, so that means levels > than aa's.

I think some of us do need guidance if you say I can get 3-4aa per hour at level 55.. o.O

But then I understand there have been changes to the way the AA system works since last I played. Still trying to find an exact writeup on that.

Actually, I haven't played in 8 months, and so the changes might actually be hurting you. It's pretty simple to aa fast though, find a place where you can kite non stop and not need to waste time medding or doing other stuff like complicated pulls. PoV, HoH, Fire, Vxed, Nest or Hive. Any of those places could net you at least an aa every 20 minutes at the right level.

There should be guides to every zone I mentioned with the exception of PoV because that is really self explanatory. I'm not going to go into detail on how to maximize your spell line up for the best kill speed/mana efficiency ratio, especially in the Hunting Grounds section. You need to find what works best for you, everyone has their preferences.

Just be cautious of the fact that at level 75, the zones that are good xp can be counted on one hand and more importantly, are only in The Serpents Spine and Buried Sea expansions.

By good xp I mean white cons or higher.

If I could go back in time, I would do this:

Get level 67 and turn on 100% AA and grind in Vexed.
Get level 70 and all OOW spells turn on 100% AA and grind in 69.1 Hard.

AT 75 your only options are Icefall Glacier, Direwind Cliffs, Vergalid Mines in TSS.
I do not have TBS so cannot comment.

Thanks Schaeffer and Reyla. That is good stuff, I'll take those thoughts into consideration and probably try Reyla's idea and see how it works out.

Just a quick update. (Remember I'm grouping with a 75 Beast with 1200AA and Anguish gear)

I hit 60 this morning and was experimenting as I was leveling up. FYI - I only level for 30 minutes every morning using my Lesson of the Devoted AA. I was getting approximately a level every 40 minutes from 52ish onward.

In WoS (I hit the Dragorn camp on the opposite side of the castle from the cubby, just outside the one Murk cave, I rarely get the camp cleared before repops):

At level 54 I was getting 1% AA XP a kill, ~4-5% Regular XP a kill (w/Lesson)
At level 59 I was getting ~4% AA XP a kill (I think), ~3-4 Regular XP a kill (w/Lesson)
At level 60 I'm getting ~10 AA XP a kill, not sure how much Regular XP as I'm going to smoke out a bunch of AA at the moment.

At 60 I am getting about between 2-3 AA every 30 minutes with Lesson.

If you have any place you know is better PM me or respond here. Thanks for the previous posts and help and I hope my post helps others.

I would look for the lowest red cons possible. I'm not really sure what an anguish geared bst can do, but my opinion is that WoS has always been horrible experience. It was never a hotzone when I was there though.

Old school classics like Halls of Honor may be good for another level or two, probably not better than a hotzone though. Tactics is slightly higher level, maybe jump down into the pit even.

If you happen to have fire access on both characters, that would probably be a good spot.

I have Fire access on the Beast and I'm sure I can get it on the Necro no problem I just have to catch someone doing FR. I'll experiment in there as I have a few other characters flagged for Fire and see what the AA xp is like with them first befire I go through the trouble. I'm getting really fast kills (~ a min a kill) and xp (5% a kill grouped with no Lesson) in WoS at the moment.
