Hello,
I'm going to start playing EQ again, and I'm planning on making a Dark Elf Necro for my main. I have a question about the pets. Can you make a pet stay in a different zone? Like can I leave my pet in the dark elf city and go to the PoK or does your pet poof when you zone? I know that you can't get weapons back from your pet so I'm worried about arming my pet then losting all that armor and stuff just for zoning around.
Sincerely,
Pyro

It Poofs, same way with FD to long. Not sure of timer on FD but after awhile it gives up on you....

and is it true you can't get the armor and weapons you give your pet back? Like if it dies can you loot it? I'm really sorry for being a newbie I only played EQ back in 1999 for about 2 months. *blushes* Sorry again for the dumb questions.
Sincerely,
Pyro

It's ok to ask, always. You lose everything you give your pet, with the exception.
A charmed pet, risky proposition that that one is. But if you have a charmed pet, break charm, kill and loot. Not sure if mage summoned items are lootable.
Basically our pets are powerful enough and work well enough as where we have no need to give them anything at all except a smile and a pat on the back... LOL. Good luck with your pets....

Someone mentioned elsewhere in a different thread that you could "beg" your item(s) back if you had a high enough skill. I dunno about the validity of that--I consider all the stuff I give to my pet his to keep indefinitely (since I usually give summoned items that I don't want to bother trying to recover anyway).
There have been some good threads on the board recently that opened my eyes to the power of summoned items for low to mid-level pets. At 34 with Invoke Shadow pet, a hand of ixiblat or two with a muzzle of mardu or magi'kot belt really make a difference in total dmg output, killing speed, and overall pet health. It can get expensive, but if I have the xtra pp, I invest in it as I know I can make it back killing more in less time.

On the subject of purchased pet weapons you can get them back from a charmed pet when it dies.
I will usually pick up the mage summoned pet weapons if I am doing LDoN's at the Hard setting because the pp you get from the adventure is usually more than what you spend for the items. I usually don't give them to my pet till after the first few fights. If it looks like our group DPS is enough to handle the adventure I will save them for another time.

Wow thanx for all the advice! :D I'm going to start play maybe June...on Rathe. I hope to see some of you there.
Oh, one more newbie question...if your pet kills the mob and you didn't hit it do you get xp or not?....As you can see I've never played a pet class!! lol

The answer is Yes, One of the best changes SoE has made. Used to be once upon a time you had to do over 50% dmg, then it went to 1 hit at least. Keep in mind though, pulling with a dot or darkness constitutes 1 hit. Darkness is preferred pulling tool, so theres very few situations for doubt about xp....

Funny, that no one has thought to ask where the pet goes after it 'poofs'.

I have leveled a wizard to 65 and other than going ooohh.. look at that 6000 dmg nuke, he is boring. Your necro can solo anywhere where a wizard can and allot of places he can't. He cant farm in dungeons for squat. You on the other hand at least have a 4400 hps+ level 60 tank between you and the mob when you hit 65. You not only can root and snare like him but you can also FD and fear.

I'd really like to play EQ again.....EQ2 reminds me to much of Ultima Online...with the housing and all.....and with the new shaired bank slots My wife and I can give one another items without alot of pain.
Sincerely,
Pyro

yesterday i heard a newbie who tried out his begging skill saying that he got a 1 charge summon horse item from begging.
said he got it from an NPC in the bazaar stables.
can any of you verify this ?
maybe there are NPCs out there where it really makes sense :)
