View Full Version : What do you think about illusionless lich?

Frankly, I don't believe our lich is really unique any more, and the illusion component makes it drop every time we zone or evac etc which requires that we recast it often.
What do you think of the possibility of two lich spells (with 3 ranks each as it may be) one with illusion and one without, so you could chose to have the illusion or otherwise?
Would you still be ok with it if it came at the cost of losing one of the planned spells?

I'd rather not have it come at the cost of another spell, honestly. It shouldn't have to, he doesn't have to tune it or anything, he just needs to make an exact copy of the spell without an illusion portion.

I think it'd be a welcomed change. I can't say I know a single nec who really wants the illusion component to stay after all these years, and those that want it are in the minority. Skelly illusions are a dime a dozen, definitely not unique to necros anymore. It's a nuisance to deal with the constant reshrinking on raids and cackling (those of us who like sound!). It's just really old and lame now.

Well I'd assume that it's a "you get x spells total per archetype" kinda deal.

There is sound in EQ?

Personally, I wouldn't like it to come at the expense of another spell. So, just make the spell without the illusion and then if someone wants to look like a skellie, pick up one of the multitude of items that has it ....

eh, fix the stupid hair bug too. If Lich drops from 'not normal' zoning ( death, times out, etc), I get ugly hair. If I didn't want to look the purty, I'd have rolled a gnome *shudder*, not a Dark Elf for crying out loud.
I play a DE for roll playing purposes to a certain degree. The Divine Comedy by Dante described Lucifer (Judoe-Christian archtype) as extremely attractive and appealing for being a fallen angel. imo evil needs to be that so when the corruption and decay reveals itself, it's twice as horrible & replusive.
I also think that someone who can suspend, delay and master death could prevent themsevles from going into lich form (skellie) when they're skill set hits a certain level. A type of inertia on the cells from death/decay, kind of like a barbie (mold, plastic artifical), but maybe I just want to look pretty :)

Indeed....I welcome THAT form of lich.
BESIDES, we could be re-defined as "necromancers"...Well, with every high lvl toon and their mother's brother using AON.

I agree with Todwelt. There are several ways to get the skellie illusion now. Why not just have an illusionless lich and then get whatever illusion you want? Hell, the Efreeti Death Visage has a spector illusion that we can't use because it doesn't stack with lich (most likely due to the skellie illlusion).

Im all for illusionless lich. I would even gladly trade it for whatever traps we are to be expecting in the future... heh
but yeah, shouldnt have to give anything up for it, its the same spell, same numbers, etc... one would think anyway

Add me to the list of those wanting illusion-less lich. After so many years, its lost its allure.

As an ikky necro, it's always offended me that I have a human skeleton while liched. Give me either an illusion-less lich, or a lich with an iksar skeleton!
I'd take it asap. Not sure how to best implement it tho. I doubt many would use skelly illu lich with illusionless option tho so i think 2 lich spells aren't needed. Just dump the illu bit. That would at the same time make it persistant across zone and kill 2 flys in 1 hit.
Obviously, I'm for it. No secret there, so just adding my name to the list, heh.
If it's a matter of spell allotment, then yeah, just 1 Lich without an illusion.
Or if we gotta lose a spell, then I'm with Arkayn ... feel free to flush the damned trap that's probably on our slate already, knowing the devs.

I agree, lose the illusion ... or maybe devs could figure out how to give us a persistant illusion that matches our normal non-liching appearance =P

iv always loved being a skelly but it would be nice to not have to reshrink every time i zone or have to recast lich on raids,
it would be really great if we got a new illusion that was unique to necro's and sticks across zones and doesnt unshrink you but i suppose that might be wishfull thinking

im thinking the big red fiends from fire as our illusion tbh, then everyone would make a necro just cuz they want it!

I would love an illusionless lich, although then I might care what my robe looks like for the first time...ever!
Really something, anything, different would be nice...Having the red skeleton for a while was cool eventhough alot of us looked like some sort of twisted Christmas ornamate.

I liked the red skelly illusion (still do actually) simply because it set us apart. Why did they abandon the idea of that with Otherside? Its gotten so common now for skelly illusion clickies that the only way to set yourself apart from the riff-raff is having your epic equipped. I have to admit that I miss being unique as a skelly. If they would make the illusion unique again and made it withstand zoning, I'd be happy as a coon dog on the first day of open season.
