I didn't see any mention of our ability to do this mission (Gorillas in the Garden) in a search so I wanted to provide a guide for other necromancers still trying to gain faction and orux in TBS.

This is a Katta Castrum mission that is a nice (if sometimes annoying) spot for the solo necromancer gaining faction (you do need 2 others in the group to get the task). Note that it is *not* a place to get XP as you will not be killing any mobs to finish the mission (unless you decide differently).

Step 1. Get the Mission (Head Attendant Haestus)

Find Haestus in Katta (go down to the basement of the main temple where the bankers are and through the central teleporter--you'll find the him to your right after you are teleported).

Say "assist" and he'll spew some stuff then say "prepared" to be teleported into a Jewel of Atiiki instance.

Step 2. Shelfezmaken

Once inside the instance run to and hail the sphinx, Shelfezmaken. You will receive a "Gorilla Wrangler's Staff" with which you chase off the gorillas by right clicking.

NOTE: You can re-use the staff in subsequent missions; you do not have to delete it between runs. However, you *do* have to hail Shelfezmaken at the beginning of each run. If you already have the staff you will not get another.

Step 3. Chase off Gorillas!

This is where all the time is spent. You need to chase gorillas from each of the three levels in the gardens area. They will run up nearby ramps on each level and will be "trapped" (i.e. poof and your task will be updated).

Bottom Level (Chase off 4 Gorillas)

This can sometimes be the most annoying level as the area is relatively small and you need to find a somewhat isolated spot where you root/rot a gorilla to at least 21% health. Do *not* kill the gorilla. My casts typically are:

1. Greater Immobilize
2. Snare (I still use my handy Ossein from PoTime)
3. Dread Pyre
4. Ashengate Pyre
5. Pyre of the Fallen Rk 2 or Pyre of Mori
6. Curse of Mortality
-- wait for DP to wear --
7. Dread Pyre
-- wait for AP to wear --
8. Ashengate Pyre
9. FD

Usually that is enough to get a gorilla (other than the boss) to 21% but you may have to toss another dot in. I generally wait for the "enemies have forgotten you!" message by which time the gorilla is at 21% or less. Run up to the gorilla (be invis) and from a short distance right click your "Gorilla Wrangler's Staff" to scare him off. The range on the staff is not huge.

Of course sometimes resists occur or root wears off...just FD them off and resume.

Note that if the gorilla is at 21% and nothing seems to happen when you click the staff then he needs a few more HPs shaved off...usually a nice life tap will do then either quickly try to chase him with the staff or FD and wait to get a bit more distance.

Also note that the gorillas can sometimes be infuriating in that they won't always run up the ramp into the trap but will wander elsewhere. Sometimes you can wait 'em out but sometimes you just have to chase 'em again with your staff to goose them up the ramp.

Middle Level and Top Level (Chase off 3 Gorillas Each Level + Boss on Top Level)

Basically it's rinse and repeat the above with gorillas on the middle and top levels plus the main boss on the top level (who is really no different in terms of handling other than she has quite a few more HP than the others and is in a tighter area with a higher density of social neighbors ;) ).

Step 4. Shelfezmaken Part Deux.

After you've chased off your quota of gorillas, hail Shelfezmaken on the bottom level and pick up the ground spawn (a flower) that will appear at your feet.

Step 5. Turn In

Return to Head Attendant Haestus in Katta and hand him the flower you picked up off the ground. You will receive faction and anywhere from 50 to 75 orux.

This generally takes me anywhere from 1.25 - 2 hours depending on luck with roots wearing off and neighbors aggro-ing.

Enjoy!

I've done this with my wife, who plays a chanter (makes this a cake walk). I just don't have the patience for it to be honest though. Fate of the Combine goes much quicker for us, and since school started, the reward for FotC bounces between 42 and 50 orum per run. But a good write up though. If you need a change of pace, this is a doable mission for sure. Just gotta be patient with the pathing at times, and also the aggro range of the other gorillas and bugs.

Yes Fate does go much faster but (at least on my server) it's usually worth about half the faction/orux. When I was in hardcore faction mode I started doing Fate but found it more efficient to do "The Great Invasion" and then this one when I discovered it. I guess for me it was also a little variety added to the mix (doing these missions gets boring no matter which after awhile hehe).

I've also solo'd Solteris #1 but it takes too long (nice XP though!).

Low orum fates are not that bad if you have a toon on the same account. What you do is add your same account toon(s) to the task when you start, then switch to your necro and solo the shitty expidition, get the reward on your necro. Then dont leave the expidition and log in as your alt,if its 30 minutes or less your toon gets the orum too.It makes a 25 orum expo a 50.
