This applies to all casters, though im using it more from a necro's perspective. Basically, since you have gift of mana (GoM) and gift of radiant mana (GoRM), you need to maximize your usage of these two abilities. Some classes may not have any 70 or lower spells memmed so this first part doesnt apply to them, however, dread pyre is a necros second best dot behind ashengate pyre and its level 70, so here goes.

1. if you are like me and use a level 65-70 dmg (heal) spell , you need to keep another 65 - 70 dmg (heal) or utility spell memmed. that way when you get gift of mana on one, its not wasted, because you can have another one memmed to utilize its proc.

2. dont lead in with your highest mana spell of a given pair...

assume you are casting 2 level 70 or lower spells (gift of mana), and 2 spells 71 or higher (gift of radiant mana)... cast the lower mana costing GoRM spell first, that way if it triggers, you can cast the higher one for free. now we play and if/then statement game. if after casting your higher radiant mana spell, and it procs radiant mana, cast your higher gift of mana spell. if you dont get a radiant mana proc on your higher radiant mana spell, then cast your lower gift of mana spell, so if you get gift of mana proc on it, you can cast the higher mana costing spell of your gift of mana spells, for free. now if it procs, well, refresh the lower one again, or lose it...

by doing this, you use less mana overall, because you lead in with your cheaper spells and can get the higher ones for free, rather than casting the higher one, and getting your cheaper spell for free. over a duration fight, or while grouped/soloing, this saves substantial mana, resulting in being able to apply more dots, or have less down time, when you are, oh, i dont know, burning lesson of the devoted or double experience potions while grinding to 80, or grinding out all those new aa's (or old ones on alts).

GoRM (Hi): your higher mana costing level 71 and higher spell
GoRM (Lo): your lower mana costing level 71 and higher spell
GoM (Hi): your higher costing level 65 - 70 spell
GoM (Lo): your lower costing level 65- 70 spell

I hope that shows up right when this is submitted...

anyways for necros specifically, at 75... say you're snare kiting in the hive (my fav place to grind) i keep my spell lineup as such:
* highest level snare spell (procs GoRM)
* AG pyre (proc GoRM)
* Pyre of the Fallen (procs GoRM)
* Dread Pyre (proc GoM)
* Mind WRACK --- NOT mind dissection! (mind wrack procs GoM)

i know mind dissection is a better spell, but if you get an extra GoRM proc, rather than burning it on mind dissection, burn it on Dread Pyre, or if you have multiple mobs in tow, on AG Pyre on a separate mob. the trick to this is, by using mind wrack, if i get a GoM proc on dread pyre, i can cast this one, using it up, and giving myself 340 mana back for free, plus feeding it to the casters in group (usually wifes mage or druid) but by doing so, it cuts the overall cost of Dread Pyre in half basically, after focus and aa checks on the cast, and getting half the mana back that was spent on Dread Pyre.

also note, that i cast snare first of course, so if i get GoRM, i hit AG pyre for free on the mob. if snare doesnt give me AG pyre, then i go to the 300'ish mana cheaper spell, Pyre of the Fallen, so if that procs GoRM, then i still get AG Pyre (1k+ mana) for free (also, by leading in with pyre of the fallen, it takes longer to do its damage, by several ticks, so its more likely to run its full course, vice only being halfway used up if mob dies, vice mob dying from AG and Dread pyre, with 2 or 3 ticks to go on pyre of the fallen). If AG Pyre ever procs GoRM, then i follow up with Dread Pyre, my second most expensive mana spell.

you can vary this for other spells (DR, PR, MR, etc) but for the example given, fire is NEVER resisted by mobs in hive, so its all i use (no resists is way more mana efficient than using a mana efficient spell and having it resisted even 1 in 6 or 7 tries).

any caster class can apply this to their lineup (if not using any 70 or lower spells, then just use your GoRM spells) but if you use a 70 or lower, you need to have 2 of them. this doesnt just apply to dps, healers can make the most out of heals and buffs this way too.

dmg/heals per mana is the name of the high end game... blowing up a parse is cool, sustained dps over an entire fight or grind is way cooler. it shows skill in playing your class, and can maximize your mana.

Happy Grinding, and of course, apply this principal to any new "gift of" proc AA's in the new expansion!

I would never use any GoM proc on a mana tap. If the mob(s) you have are already loaded up w/ dots, go pull another with Dreadpyre/AGP.

Personally I prefer to use more dots like Searing Shadow/Pyre of the Fallen/Lifeless/poison dots rather than stacking DP and AGP all the time, I don't like to take med breaks more than once every 20 minutes or so.

I keep both Corath Venom and DP in my line up, DP because nothing pisses me off more then a gom, gorm, goem going off then the spell fizzling that you are trying to cast with it, thanks to spell casting mastery aa thru all 70 spells this cant happen to me with DP and Corath is there just in case my DP procs a gom because none of the other spells in my line up can use gom, and it is still a pretty efficent manawise dot that doesnt slow me down if I cast it without a gom.

That is off my kite lineup though depending on where and what I will swap if grouping/raiding.

when kiting in crystallos or FM i use in this order.

snare
searing shadow
venonscale
vajsid#$ (SoF)
kedge rk2
corath
AG rk2
DP

usually i only have to recast kedge, corath to kill the mob (in FM, crystallos it takes about 2 full rounds to kill, sometimes more).
with the right rythmn, GoM procs i can do this almost none stop in FM.
i keep AG/DP for the end to get them GoM procs.

if i'm in a group its AG2, DP, venon, kedge, corath, SoB/R.Venin/MVivivsection
when it comes to group dps the more i can do the better even at the expense of mana, and having to drop to OoC every 10min or so.
